In or·der to invesligate the possibility of cultivation of circinate leaves the adequate quantity of fertilirer, the extention of collecting period, the production of circinate leaves of better quality and the varialion of · starch content of rhizome in the given period were experimented .The results were as follows : 1, Edible circinate leaves of fern have been collected in natural state only in spring but it is possible to collect them from April to July, if fern is cultivated. The yield of circinate leaves increases gradualy from April until early July and decreases severely thereafter. 2. The number of circinate leaves is more in the sunny plots than in the shade Plots. This shows the possibility of mass production is in the sunny plots. But the quality of circinate leaves under the shade is better than that under the sun. 3. Height growth of circinate leaves shows its peak on the fourth day after the leaves appeared on the ground and the circinate leaves have best quality for edibility on the fifth day, and therefore mass collection should be done 4 to 5 days after its appearance "on the ground. The condition of collection may be affected by the relative humidity and the ground temperature. 4, Starch content in the rhizome is about 40% based on dry weight from September to March. and decreases into 30% in the growing season. Therefore, the favorable period of rhizome collection for starch is considered to be from late September to late March.

The present study investigated the effects of hormones and bed soiis on rooting of both shootand root-cuttings of frotrrorrrf'o farf'foff'in order to fiild out means of vegetative propagation.The obtained resuits are sumnlarifed as follows '1 . Cuttings treated with hormones rooted better than tile nontreated cuttings.2 . Naphthaleneacetic acid appeared to be a Uetter root-promoter than indoleacetic acid.3. CutlinEs treated with hormones rooted bettel'in the sand bed than in the clay bed butnon-treated cuttings rooted better in the Liay bed. Especialll· the ruttings treated with IAArooted well in the sand bed.it . Root-cuttings were found to be bettel'than she()1·-cuttings as the cutting materials forthe vegetati#e propagation of this species.,j When root-cuttings were used, thin cuttings sho)ved higher rooting results than thickc outings.

The specific difference of trap tree tempting pine bark beetles, suitable cutting dates of those, the dates that pine bark beetles invade into trap trees for laying eggs and that imagos escape from those at Jeonju area, effects of enticting apparatus alluring the insect, difference of content of benzoci acid contained in bast of trap trees (Pinus densiflora) on cutting dates and length of twigs tunnel made by a bark beetle at the second attaking time were investigated. The results were as follows. 1. The specific diference of trap tree tempting the insects were arranged in decreasing order Pinus densiflora>Pinus thumbergii>Pinus rigida. 2. The suitable cutting datesof trap tree were from October to February of next year and the best time was February in Pinus densiflora but was January in other two species. 3. The dates that the insect ins\vaded into trap tree for layin eggs were from the early March to the end of April and the peak time from the 28th to 31th of March at Jeonju area. 4. The dates that the imagos escaped frome those were from the 17th of May to the 10th of July and the peak time from the 11th to 15th of June at Jeonju area. 5. Effects of enticing apparatus alluring the insect were very low. 6. there were few difference in the content of benzoic acid contained in bast of trap trees(pinus densiflora) on cutting dates. 7. The length of twigs tunnel made by an insect at the second attaking time was 22~46㎝ and th average length was 31.6㎝.
