요추 추간판 탈출증 치료 중 진단된 다발성 골수종 1례

Objectives: The aim of this study is to notify incidental diagnosis of multiple myeloma during conservative treatment for lumbar disc herniation, caused by right flank pain. Methods: A 45-year-old female came to our hospital for the control of pain caused by lumbar disc hemiation L5-S1. After using Cox technique, she occured right flank pain and found out multiple fracture by bone scan. For further evaluation, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma with bone marrow biopsy. Results and Conclusions: This case report suggests that clinicians should consider the possibility of multiple myeloma in the case of multiple fracture without trauma.
자기공명영상 (Magnetic Resonance Image)을 통한 요통 환자의 다열근 위축에 대한 후향적 연구

Objectives: In the assessment of the lumbar spine by magnetic resonance imaging (hereinafter, "MRI"), changes in the paraspinal muscles are overlooked. The purpose of our study is to examine the correlation between the multifidus muscle atrophy on MRI findings and the clinical findings in low back pain (hereinafter, "LBP") patients. Methods: The retrospective study on 38 LBP patients, presenting either with or without associated leg pains, was undertaken. The MRI findings on the patients were visually analysed to find out a lumbar multifidus muscle atrophy, disc herniation, disc degeneration, spinal stenosis and nerve root compressions. The clinical history in each case was obtained from their case notes and pain drawing charts. Results: The lumbar multifidus muscle atrophy has occurred from more than 80% of the patients with LBP. Most of lumbar multifidus muscle atrophies have increased from lower level of lumbar spine. It was bilateral in the majority of the cases. In addition, multifidus muscle atrophy was correlated to the patient`s age, disc degenerations and spinal stenosis. On the contrary, gender, the duration of LBP, referred leg pain, disc herniation and nerve root compressions had no relevance to multifidus muscle atrophies. Therefore, when assessing the MRIs of the lumbar spine, we should have more attetion on multifidus muscle, because it has lot`s of information about spinal neuropathy problems. Conclusions: Therefore, the examination of multifidus muscle atrophies should be considered when assessing the MRIs of the lumbar spine. In addition, it helps to evaluate and plan the treatment modalities of LBP. Moreover, it prevents from LBP by discovering the importance between the multifidus muscle and the spine stabilization exercise.
Cox 수기요법과 침치료로 호전된 척추전방전위증의 방사선학적 변화 : 증례보고

Objectives : We have evaluated the effects of cox technique treatment and acupuncture therapy by experimenting two patients suffering from instable spondylolisthesis. Methods : Two patients were diagnosed as instable spondylolisthesis through X-ray examination. We used cox technique treatment and acupuncture therapy to the patients and measured VAS(Visual analogue scale), rating scale for low back pain and slip length of vertebral body. Results : After treating cox technique treatment and acupuncture therapy in two cases, We find out that the patients were improved. Conclusions : These results suggest that acupuncture therapy and especially cox technique treatment were effective to stabilized the lumbar vertebral body and reduced the low back pain

Objectives : Lumbar multifidus muscle stabilize lumbar spine. Atrophy of multifidus muscle follows disfunction of low back pain patient's activity and increase the reoccurency of herniation of nucleus purposus surgery. Lumbar herniation of nucleus purposus if common cause of low back pain. We have evaluated the atrophy of multifidus of nucleus purposus. Methods : Five patients were diagnosed as Lumbar herniation of nucleus purposus through the CT imaging. CT imaging were visually analysed to know lumbar multifidus muscle atrophy. Results and Conclusions : Examination of multifidus muscle atrophy should be considered with assessing CT imaging of lumbar spine. It may help for further evaluation and planning the treatment of Lumbar herniation of nucleus purposus patient.

Objectives : We investigated the possibility of cervical spine misalignment caused by Scalenus anticus syndrome to find out the Scalenus anticus syndrome could effect misalignment of cervical spine. Methods : 18 patients with Scalenus anticus syndrome who attended Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, College of Oriental Medicine, Dong-guk University from 20th June to 10th September 2006, were involved in the investigation. After researching misalignment through neutrality lateral, flexion lateral, extension lateral x-ray examination views, we measured difference of length of cervical spine misalignment. We analyzed the difference of length of cervical spine misalignment, and the relationship among the neutrality lateral, flexion lateral and extension lateral position. Results : Lateral flexion and lateral extension position were shown higher frequency than neutrality position in cervical spine misalignment. We got the statistical significance in the difference of length of cervical spine misalignment by position changes, it showed that C3, C4 vertebra bodies in lateral neutrality position, C2, C3, C4, C5 vertebra bodies in flexion lateral position, C3-5 vertebra bodies in extension lateral position. Conclusions : It was considered that scalenus anticus syndrome could increase cervical spine misalignment which could be a factor of making in cervical spine disease.
족저근막 이완요법과 침치료를 이용한 족저근막염치험 2례

Objectives : Plantar fasciitis is most common cause of heel pain which starts from anterior tubercle of calcaneus. It is chronic inflamation of plantar fascia, reduces collagen and water content of heel pad which incur the degenerative changes with elastic fiber weakness. We have evaluated the effect of myofacial releasing therapy and acupuncture therapy by experimenting two patients suffering from plantar fasciitis. Methods : Two patients were diagnosed as plantar fasciitis through their symptoms. We used myofacial releasing therapy and acupuncture therapy to the patients and measured VAS(Visual analogue scale). Results and Conclusions : After treating myofacial releasing therapy and acupuncture therapy in two cases, We figured out that the patients were on the mend. These results suggest that myofacial releasing therapy and acupuncture therapy were effective to heel pain.
