The objectives of railway construction and operation are transportation of passenger and freight safely and punctually. However, environmental effects such as noise, vibration, air pollution, underground water pollution and change of biosphere are emerged caused by train pass-bys. To avoid these adverse effects, new railway system has been developed around the world. This paper introduces LRT system and its environmental advantages. An environmental consideration for LRT design and adoptability for Korean situation are studied for the more.

In whole world consciousness of environment maintenance have increased very quickly for the end of the 20th century. To use and disuse toxic substances have been controled at the field of industry. Also the field of lighting source belong to environmental control. And in the future the control will be strong. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mercury is the worst environmental problem and root. In the mercury free lighting source system the Xe gas lamp is one type. And the Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar mixed gas lamp improve firing voltage of Xe gas lamp. Purpose of this study is to understand ideal mixing-ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar gas by electron temperature and electron density for mercury free lamp. Before ICP was designed, basic parameters of plasma, which are electron temperature and electron density, were measured and calculated by single-Langmuir probe. Property of electron temperature and electron density were confirmed by changing ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar.

Recently, since demands of energy saving and efficiency for electric railway system have been increased, the study for electrical operation system is needed. Therefore, case study according to increase of energy consumption, investigate the actual conditions of the operation of electric cars and lightings were analyzed. From the results therefore, it is found that the energy consumption of electric car is much more winter than summer, because heating for protect of the air pipe frozen. But the energy consumption of electric equipment of station office is much more summer than winer, the reason for air-conditioner. In future, according to outdoor air temperature and ridership, wish to study about system that can operate cold, block heater automatically.

The use of polymer insulator has increased all over the world. As of 2000's KEPCO has used it fully since they introduced it in early 1990's. In Korea it is very widely used by KORAIL which uses AC 25 kV system in the ground electric car line. And It is also used in tunnel electric car line to support AT feeder line. But it has not been used in the section of DC 1500 V. In case of DC 1500 V electric railway system It is has been developed by research institutes by means of R&D projects since 2008. The user cleans porcelain insulators regularly by water because of dusts and pollution. In case of polymer insulators It is very easy to be made dirty by pollution because of the material properties and hard to be cleaned by cleansing. In accordance with these reasons It is worried about deterioration. This paper deals with anticipating problems when we apply it to DC electric railway system and the procedure for testing polymer support insulator.

The substructure of Light Rail Transit is mainly built on elevated structure that is composed of pier, girder and bridge deck. The bridge deck mostly has been made by field formed reinforced concrete so far. The objectives of the study are to find a method for design and construction of the new bridge deck. Ⅰ-beam is fabricated to make grid and concrete is poured on it at factory. This type can be used for maintenance of duty line by advantages such as good quality control and short construction time.
