Tego is extensively used as an antiseptic detergent in hospital, food industries and so on. However, contact dermatitis due to Tego has been rarely reported. Recently the cases which were occurred occupationally in many nuraes, assistant nurses and doctors had been reported. The main component of Tego is dodecyldi (aminoethyl) glycine HC1. Tego is generally diluted to 1% for antiseptic purposes and in this concentration Tego is not usually irritant. The authors reported 4 cases of Tego induced contact dermatitis dermatitis, which amounted to 2.7% in 150 patch tested patients who had recently visited our Environmental and Occupational Dermatitis Clinic in a year. 2 of them were nurses and 1 of them was a doctor. They had all been in contact with Tego for a long time due to their work. We also observed an allergy to Tego in a patient who had frequently been in contact with Tego in the antiseptic sponges used for her intramuscular injections. In conclusion, Tego seems to be an occasional sensitixer causing allergic contact dermatitia in our society.
