Type II Collagen으로 유도된 관절염에 대한 강활(羌活), 독활(獨活) 배합약물의 억제 효과

Objectives : To clarify the anti-arthritic activity of Ostericum koreanum Maxim. (OS) plus Aralia continentalis Kitagawa (AC) in vivo. Methods : All mice were immunized with bovine type II collagen. After a second collagen immunization, mice were treated with OS plus AC once a day for 7 weeks. Oral administration of OS plus AC (200 or 50 mg/kg) significantly suppressed the progression of CIA, which extend is comparable to that of methotrexate (MTX, 0.3 mg/kg), a positive control. The severity of arthritis within the knee joints was evaluated by histological assessment of cartilage destruction and pannus formation. Results : Administration of OS plus AC significantly suppressed the progression of CIA and inhibited the production of TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6 in serum. The erosion of cartilage was dramatically reduced in mouse knees after treatment with OS plus AC. In conclusion, our results demonstrates that OS plus AC significantly suppressed the progression of CIA and that this action was characterized by the decreased production of IL-6, IFN-${\gamma}$ and collagen II specific antibody in serum, CD3+CD69+ T cells, MHC class II+/CD11c+ (in DLN), CD11b+Gr-1+ cells (in PBMC), CD11b +Gr-1+ cells, B220+/CD23+ (in paw joint). Conclusions : The the levels of IFN-${\gamma}$ in the culture supernatant of splenocytes stimulated with CD3/CD28 or collagen were dramatically decreased, while those of IL-4 was increased. In the serum of OS and AC-treated mice, the levels of IgM RA factor were decreased.

Objectives:The purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with suicidal ideation among community-dwelling elderly. Methods:In total, 492 community-dwelling elderly(over 60 years of age) participated in this study. Data on sociodemographic characteristics, medical history and suicidal ideation during the past 12 months were analyzed. Various measures including the Korean Mini Mental Status Exam in the Korean version of the CERAD assessment packet (MMSE-KC), Short form of the Geriatric Depression Scale(SGDS), Korean version of Quality of Life-Alzheimer’s Disease (KQOL-AD), and Subjective Successful Aging(SSA) questionnaire were administered. Results:The prevalence rate of suicidal ideation was 26.4%. According to the binary logistic regression, SSA(OR 0.99, 95% CI 0.97-1.00, p =0.020) and SGDS(OR 1.28, 95% CI 1.16-1.41, p <0.001) scores were independently associated with suicidal ideation. Conclusion:Among community-dwelling elderly, depressive symptoms increased the risk of suicidal ideation, whereas subjective evaluations of successful aging decreased the risk. Thus, appropriate interventions for depressive symptoms are needed to prevent the elderly individuals from developing suicidal ideation.
고분자 전해질 연료전지용 산소환원반응을 위한 비백금촉매의 활성에 대한 최신 연구 동향

수소의 화학반응 에너지를 직접 전기 에너지로 변환하는 Polymer electolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs)는 친환경 미래 운송수단 에너지원의 한 종류이다. PEMFCs의 내부에 산소 환원 반응이 매우 느리고 고가의 백금을 사용하기 때문에 이를 대체하려는 연구가 국내외에서 매우 활발히 연구되고 있다. 하지만 백금이외에 값싼 재료를 이용한 촉매의 경우 여전히 성능이매우 상이하며 활성 향상에 대한 지표 등이 다양하다. 이에 본 총설은 non-precious metal catalyst (NPMC)의 활성 지표 등을 정리하고 최근 5년간의 자료를 요약하였다. 이를 통해 촉매재료의 선별, 합성시 주안점, 조촉매 등을 설명하며, 촉매 활성에 대한 연구의 필요성을 상기 시킬 수 있다. 이를 통해 귀금속 촉매가 널리 사용되는 분야에 적용할 수 있는 NPMC의 연구및 개발에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 또한 향후 연구개발의 최종적인 목표를 기술한다.
