This study was accomplished to analysis and survey on the experimental and practical science education of high school in korea for the consecutive study of the an analysis and survey on the experimental and practical science education of middle school in korea(Lee, Yoon-Jong et al., 1997). The status of facilities, management for the experiment, practices, teaching methods in high schools have been investigated. The present status and reasonable management of the high school science education have been grasped from the questionaires. To do this 165 high school science teachers, 1977 students and 80 principals of high schools in Korea are administered questionaires of Science Education Research Institute of Kyungpook National University(1997). The results of this study are as follows : The reasonable management for experiments and practices of science education were scanty in the high school around the urban and rural school owing to the shortage of facilities and equipments, crowded class, excessive class works for teacher, excessive contents of present textbooks and insufficiency of the administrative supports etc. The current teaching method of high school science has emphasized knowledge. This fact does not satisfy the objective of learning due to lack of the teaching method. Desirable directions for the improvement of present status of high school science education were proposed in this paper.

The advent of meteorology was not appeared by instance. At first, Meteorology was accomplished by Aristotle, who was Greek natural philosopher. In a book he called Meteorologica, which dates to around 340 BCE, Aristotle dealt with the properties and processes of weather phenomena which described in the pre-age of Aristotle. This book`s title originate to the word of meteorology. Aristotle`s Meteorologica was assembled by his theories, as well as the wisdoms of historian, philosopher and epic in pre-age of Aristotle and his age. The purpose of this study was to search for the scientific background of writing of historically important book, Meteorogica.
대구 지역의 기상 특성 연구 및 대기 확산 모델의 적용 : Ⅲ. 종관 바람장을 이용한 국지 기상 특성

대구의 국지 기상 특성을 알아보기 위하여 1980년 12월부터 1989년 11월까지 10년간 대구 기상대에서 관측한 지상 관측 자료를 이용하여 이들을 통계적으로 분석하였다. 종관 바람장은 한반도를 중심으로 850 hPa 등압 면의 지균풍을 계산하고 이 지균풍의 풍향(4방위), 풍속(2등급), 운량(2등급)에 따라 종관 기상 상태를 구분하였다. 이중에서 빈도수가 많은 종관 바람장이 북풍 계열과 서풍 계열인 경우에 대해서 계절별 풍향, 풍속, 운량의 발생 빈도 및 여러 기상 변수들의 일변화와 계절 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과 대구의 국지 기상 특징은 동일한 종관 바람장에서도 지상의 풍향, 풍속, 기온, 상대 습도, 시정 그리고 일사등의 기상 요소들의 일변화와 계절 변화가 뚜렷하게 나타났다. The characteristic features of local weather phenomena over Taegu are analyzed statistically using the surface observation data under the various synoptic wind fields for 10 years from December 1980 to November 1990. Various synoptic conditions were classified from the estimated geostrophic wind speeds and direction determined using the 850 hPa geopotential height field. The geostrophic wind directions were subdivided into four even direction and speeds into two categories, which result in eight cases of the synoptic weather conditions. The synoptic weather conditions are again subdivided into two categories using the total cloud amount. The northerly and westerly geostrophic wind which have a high frequency of the occurrence are analyzed. The results show that seasonal and diurnal variations of the meteorological elements, such as surface wind direction and speed, air temperature, relative humidity, visibility and insolation, reveal the various characteristics under the same synoptic weather conditions.




웹을 이용한 효과적인 과학학습체제의 구축 및 태도 변화 -중학교 지구과학 내용을 중심으로 -

The popularization and the common use of internet are realizing these days thanks to the development of web. Using the web as a teaching instrument is the Web Based Instruction(WBI). WBI, along with constructivism, has a great influence on the present educational society. However, many problems were found in learners' using the numerous WBI programs in cyber space. Above all, the interaction between teachers and learners is not enough, and searching for the materials on web is not easy. It's very difficult for a teacher to design and construct a WBI program in school teaching. But It is not so difficult to design and construct a WBI program based on interaction. Therefore, if a teacher familiar to students in school makes a web page and provides a cyberspace, the students will interact very easily them in the cyberspace. They can use the e-mail, bulletin board or discuss and chat. The cyberspace will make up for the insufficient interaction in school life. But because this program needs all students have proper material condition, there will be another kind of estranged learners. Thus, this problem can be solved by the cheap-popular PC offering movement backed by the government, and other types of projects systematically.
STS 학습 프로그램 적용이 실업계 고등학생들의 과학 성취도 및 태도에 미치는 효과

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the STS program on vocational high school students' science-related attitudes. In order to examine, we selected the content of instructions at the Earth Science content in the "Common Science" and applied the STS program for one year to the second grade students of six classes (N = 318) in a girls high school located in Kumi City, Kyungpook, Korea. For this study, we developed the instructional methods and then applied to the STS program. The result of this study revealed that the STS program on students' science achievement and attitudes were effective.
수준별 탐구 능력 신장을 위한 STS 학습 프로그램의 적용

STS 학습 프로그램이 요구하는 바를 현장 과학 교육에 구현시키기 위해서는 모든 학습자에게 적절한 수준별 교육 자료들을 개발할 필요가 있다. 이를 위하여 과학교육의 핵심으로 볼 수 있는 과학 교과서에서 공통적으로 꼭 다루어야 할 필수항목을 추출하였다 그런 다음, 이 항목들을 수준별 STS 과학 수업 모형에 적합하도록 개발하였다. 이연구의 목적은 수준별 탐구 능력을 신장하기 위해서 STS 학습 프로그램을 적용하는 데 있다. 이 연구를 실시한 결과 다음과 같은 몇 가지 결론을 얻을 수 있었다: 첫째, 부분적이나마 과학 교과목을 학습하는 태도에 긍정적인 변화가 있었다. 둘째, 생활 주변에서 그 소재를 찾아 과학. 기술, 사회에 접목시킨 수업이기에 과학 기술과 우리의 생활이 밀접한 관계에 있다는 사실을 알게 되었고, 학습의 흥미 유발에 많은 도움이 되었다. 셋째, STS 소재를 구안(具案), 제작하는 과정에서 학생의 자기 주도적 탐구 활동이 이루어짐으로써 스스로 학습하는 계기를 마련할 수 있었다. 넷째, STS 학습프로그램을 적용한 실험집단과 전통적 수업 방식을 적용한 비교집단 사이에는 실험집단이 유의미하게 학업 성취도의 증가가 있었다.
1997년 1월 5-7일에 발생한 동해안 대설에 관한 지역별 종관 특성

The purpose of this study is to investigate diurnal variations of snowstorm occurred along the East Coast of the Korean Peninsula. The snowstorm which occurred on 5${\sim}$7 January 1997 have been analyzed. The pressure patterns were analyzed through surface and upper-air chart(850hPa). Diurnal variations of four areas, i. e. Youngdong, Mt. Taebaek, Youngseo and Kyungbuk regions were analyzed through wind direction and speed, cloud amounts, surface temperature, dewpoint temperature, relative humidity and sea level pressure. And snowfall amounts over four areas were analyzed through regional distribution, daily and temporal variations. The snowfall which occurred on January 5 was caused by the weak low pressure which is located in Kyusu region of Japan. The snowfall of January 6 occurred due to the Siberian high's expansion and instability. And northeasterly wind is one factor of the snowstorm which occurred in Mt. Taebaek region on 7 January. Heavy snowfall was caused by westerly wind but easterly wind occurred weak snowfall in Youngdong area. The precipitation of Kyungbuk region(eapecially, Pohang) was less than that of Youngdong region because the air mass which was not modified had influence on Kyungbuk region on 6${\sim}$7 January, 1997.
