The present study dealt with the emotional characteristics, emotional development of gifted children and emphasized the emotional intelligence as the meta-ability for the development of creativity and intellectual abilities. The emotional vulnerability of gifted children was also discussed with endogenous and exogeneous problems, internal dyssynchrony, and social context. To find out the real chief problems the gifted children have, the contents of individual counselling with mothers of the gifted in KAGE were categorized based on the Lazarus' BASIC ID and DSM - IV diagnosis. Total 128 cases were analyzed. Among them, 61 cases were from elementary schoolers, however, percentile data showed the most, 34% of infant class aged 30 months - 48 months. Usually, the number of counselling in each person was 1, but 17 cases were done more than 3 times. And, 8 cases had experiences to visit the other counseling center or neuropsychiatric clinic. The categories of chief problems were 10: information about gifted program, behavior, affect, sensation, school and cognitive functions, imagery and self concept, interpersonal relationship, personality, mental illness, and others. Many problems in each category were listed. Finally, the present study suggested the several guidance plan possibly useful in the gifted education center for the purpose of prevention of emotional difficulties and support for the mental health, including professional personnel, child counselling, emotional education, and parent counseling & education.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of preschoolers' giftedness by their parents' perception. Total 3 groups of 148 subjects from age 30 months to 6 years 10 months old young gifted children's parents participated. The major findings were as follows : (1) There were critical characteristics of preschoolers' giftedness by parents' perception, which were 'good memory', 'high curiosity', 'read and understand of math', 'enjoy of learning and high motivation', 'high concentration', reading books', 'verbal ability', 'creativity', 'questions', and 'independency', (2) These characteristics of preschoolers' giftedness showed more strong and intense as they got older, and (3) Some characteristics revealed more, but the other characteristics revealed less as they got older. These findings suggested the consideration of child's age as the reliable identification process of young gifted children.
영재아 판별에서 한국판 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트의 유용성에 관한 연구

본 연구는 영재 판별에 사용되는 한국판 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트에서 영재적 특성이 나타나는 정도를 파악하여 영재아판별의 유용성을 검증하고자 하였다. 영재교육기관에 내 원한 총 397명의 아동을 대상으로 개별 검사한 KEDI-WISC 전체지능지수를 기준으로 하여 IQ 130 이상의 아동을 영재집단으로,IQ 115이상~130미만의 아동을 우수집단으로, 그리고 IQ 115미만의 아동을 평균집단으로 3집단으로 구분하였다. 또한 부모나 주양육자에게 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트를 개별적으로 실시한 후 KEDI-WISC와 영재아체크리스트 결과를 분석하였다. 결과분석은 전체지능, 언어성지능, 동작성지능과 10개의 소검사 영역에서 3집단간의 차이, 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트와의 상관, 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트 5개의 영역에서의 3집단간의 차이 성별의 차이 및 변별 문항 분석 등으로 이루어졌다. 분석 결과, 한국판 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트가 영재성을 파악하는데 매우 유용한 검사로 나타났다. 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트와 웩슬러 지능검사와의 상관이 유의미하게 매우 높았으며, 언어성과 동작성지능 모두에서 유의미한 상관을 나타냈다. 연구 결과, 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트의 평균치에서 영재집단 > 우수집단 > 평균집단 순으로 영재성이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 5개 영역 및 전체 점수를 포함한 모든 6개 점수에서 영재집단과 우수집단의 차이가 유의미한 것으로 드러났다. 문항 분석 결과 전체 50개의 문항 중에서 20개의 문항 이 영재집단과 우수집단을 변별하는 데에 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 한국판 영재아 행동특성 체크리스트에서 전체적으로 학년별, 성별의 차이는 드러나지 않았다. Characteristics of Superior Children as a Screening Test of Gifted students The purpose of this study was to investigate the usefulness of Korean version of checklist for behavioral characteristics of superior children as a screening test for gifted students. Total 397 children were tested KEDI-WISC (Korean version of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children), and their parents or primary caretakers took the checklists for behavioral characteristics of superior children individually. Total subjects were divided into 3 groups based on their Full IQ score of KEDI-WICS. The children of IQ 130 and over was gifted group, and those of IQ 115-130 was superior group, and those of below IQ 115 was average group. The analyses of behavioral checklist scores among the groups, gender, grades differences and item analysis of behavioral checklist were done for the purpose of discrimination among 3 groups. As a result, it was found that the Korean version of checklist for behavioral characteristics of superior children was very useful as a screening test for gifted correlations between checklist scores and verbal, performance and full IQ scores were significantly high, which means that IQ and checklist scores were very related. Twenty out of 50 items were found to be discrimination items between gifted and superior group. However, there was no significant difference between grades and gender on the checklist score.

Semiconductor industry has large number of chemical inventory and is easily exposed to chemical release incidents. Toxic release is one of the most interested area in evaluating consequence to the vicinity of industry facilities handling hazardous materials. Hydrofluoric acid is one of the typical chemical used in semiconductor facility and is selected and toxic release is evaluated to assess the risk impacted to its off-site. Accident scenarios were listed using process safety information. The scenarios having effect to the off-site were selected and assessed further according to guideline provided by Korea government. Worst case and alternative scenarios including other interested scenarios were evaluated using ALOHA. Each evaluated scenario was assessed further considering countermeasures. The results showed that the facility handling hydroflooric acid is safe enough and needed no further protections at the moment.
