Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare disorder of unknown origin that is pathologically characterized by marked infiltration of eosinophils in the wall of the gastrointestinal tracts. Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is often classified according to the layer of the bowel wall involved. We experienced two cases of eosinophilic gastroenteritis. One case having whole small bowel wall involvement resulting in small bowel obstruction and eosinophilic ascites underwent bowel resection followed by oral steroid treatment. The other case having mucosal layer involvement with chronic diarrhea and hypoalbuminemia was treated with oral corticosteroid and responded dramatically. In addition, we report one case of hypereosinophilic syndrome involving the gastrointestinal tracts. The patient presented with abdominal pain, ascites, and urticaria. and also showed good response to oral steroid. (Korean J Gastrointest Endosc 2003;27:31-37) 호산구성 위장염은 드문 질환으로 아직 원인이 확실히 밝혀지지 않았으며 위장관벽의 현저한 호산구의 침윤을 특징으로 하는 질환이다. 주로 호산구가 침범하는 부위와 임상양상에 따라 분류하는데 저자들은 위장관 전층을 침범하고 소장폐쇄와 호산구성 복수를 주 증상으로 내원하여 장절제술을 받은 환자 1예와 주로 점막층을 침범하여 만성설사를 주소로 내원한 환자 1예에서 스테로이드를 사용하여 임상적인 호전을 경험하였다. 또한 위 증례와 유사한 복통과 호산구성 복수 등의 증상으로 내원하여 특발성 과호산구 증후군으로 진단된 환자 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
직장에서 발생한 고립성 Peutz-Jeghers 용종 2예

Peutz-Jeghers 증후군은 소화관에 발생하는 과오종성 용종증과 함께 피부점막의 멜라닌 색소침착을 특징으로 하는 상염색체 우성의 유전성 질환이다. 가족력이나 과다색소 침착이 없는 환자에서 발생한 고립성 Peutz-Jeghers형 과오종성 용종은 국외는 물론 국내에서도 드문 것으로 알려져 있다. 저자들은 비슷한 시기에 용종절제술을 시행 받은 두 명의 여자 환자에서 고립성 Peutz-Jeghers 용종 2예를 경험하였기에 보고한다.

This study analyzed the value of equilibrium porosity δ, ratio of wet cake mass to dry cake mass m, effective especific surface of cake solid Kso^2, average specific resistance α, Ruth's coefficient of constant pressure filtration K by operating compressed permeability and constant pressure filtration experiments. The results showed that in equilibrium porosity Ha-dong kaoline was larger than Ham-Pyung clay but in change of equilibrium porosity one was lesser than the other. And in average specific resistance Ham-Pyung was larger than Ha-dong kaoline, then results showed than Ham-Pyung clay was difficult in filtration.

Background: Ipsilateral pelvic elevation has been reported as a common compensatory movement during side-lying hip abduction. It has been reported that pelvic elevation inhibits sufficient contraction of gluteus medius. However, few studies have identified the effects of controlled pelvic elevation on the trunk and hip muscles. Objective: To examine the effects of controlled pelvic elevation using visual biofeedback on the muscle activity of the trunk and hip muscles. Design: Crossover study. Methods: Twelve healthy males performed side-lying hip abduction exercises with and without visual biofeedback for pelvic elevation. Electromyography (EMG) activities of the gluteus medius, quadratus lumborum, and multifidus were analyzed using a wireless EMG system while the ipsilateral pelvic elevation angle was measured using a motion sensor during side-lying hip abduction exercises. Results: EMG activities of the gluteus medius (p = .002), quadratus lumborum (p = .022), and multifidus (p = .020) were significantly increased and ipsilateral pelvic elevation was significantly decreased (p = .001) during side-lying hip abduction with visual biofeedback compared to without visual biofeedback. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the application of biofeedback for pelvic motion could improve the trunk and hip muscle activation pattern and decrease compensatory pelvic motion during side-lying hip abduction exercise.
청소년 건강 관련 학령기 비만아동의 신체상 관련요인 분석

The main purpose of this study was to examine and identify variables related to body image of overweight school children. The new government statistics reported that approximately 15 of Korean children in elementary, junior, and senior high schools were overweight. A significant number of these overweight children will become obese adults and will have increased chances of developing cardiovascular problems and/or diabetes later in life. Obesity also places a child at risk for developing poor body image. Body image is closely linked to the development of self concept and a good self concept is closely tied to good peer relationships. The survey was done with 1197 children in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades of 9 elementary schools in 5 different cities in Korea. Height and weight were measured and BMI was calculated. One hundred and seventy-nine children whose BMI score was greater than 20 were considered to be overweight. Data analysis was done by using the SAS PC+ package. The results of the study indicated that overweight children had significantly lower body image than normal weight children. The result of the stepwise multiple regression analysis to identify the variables related to body image of school aged children showed that physical exercise and a harmonious family environment were more powerful than any other variables included in the model including the 'overweight' factor. The model explained only 23.6% of the body image of school aged children, thus there are many other factors related to the body image of these children. Based on these results, it is suggested that weight control programs for school aged children should include a regular exercise program and a parent education program so that parents can learn and understand about discipline and communication methods. It is important for children to grow and develop with a healthy body image and self concept regardless of their weight.
Alcohol 에 依한 葉綠素 抽出에 미치는 超音波의 影響에 關한 硏究

Chlorophyll is extracted by acetone. In spite of using many kinds of solvents such as acetone, alcohol, methanol, benzene, ether, hexane, etc., acetone is almost used as solvents in the chlorophyll extraction industry. Because the extraction velocity and efficiency by acetone is better than by other solvents, Ultrasonics, therefore, is applied to extract chlorophyll by alcohol. Then, extraction velocity and efficiency is promoted, and other compounds are not formed by ultra sonics and chlorophyll. It seems that technical difficulties in manufacturing process are removed.
