In this study, science history program was developed to enhance student's concepts toward the particulate nature of matter and the understanding about the nature of science. And the effects of its application was investigated in the lesson of ‘Composition of Matter' in middle school science class. This science history program was based on genetic approach and included the contents from the old Greek natural philosophers to Avogadro. Before instruction, the test of understanding about nature of science was administered, and the science scores of the previous course were obtained, which were used as covariates. During 24 class hours, this study was conducted with two classes(experimental and comparison group) in a middle school in Seoul. The experimental group was received lessons by science history programs and the comparison group was received traditional lessons. After instruction, the scientific concept test, the test of understanding about nature of science were administered. The result of this study indicates that the scientific concept scores of experimental group were significantly higher than comparison group at p <.01 level of significance. It means that the students in experimental group has more sound conceptions about the particulate nature of matter and less mis conceptions about matter than the students in comparison group. However, there was no significant difference between two groups in the score of understanding about the nature of science.

Small-Scale Chemistry(SSC)를 적용한 화학 I 수업이 자연계열 고등학생의 학업적 자기효능감 및 과학 관련 정의적 특성에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Small-Scale Chemistry(SSC) lab program on the academic self-efficacy and the science-related affective domain of 11th grade science-majored students. For this study, a SSC lab program was developed on the basis of analyzing the textbook of high school chemistry I in the 7th curriculum, and the experimental group was received SSC experiment lessons(SSC group), and the comparison group was received traditional experiment lessons. After students were grouped high and low level according to the students' prior science achievement score, the differences between the two groups were investigated using 2-way ANCOVA. From the result of this study, we found that the SSC lab program was more effective than the traditional Large-Scale lab program based on the textbook in academic self-efficacy. And the scores of interest toward science-related careers and creativity for the SSC group, which are subcategories of science-related affective domain were significantly higher than those for the comparison group. In students' perceptions on the SSC lab program, majority of students thought that the SSC lab program was convenient, effective and interesting.
두경부 악성종양 환자에서 조기 방사선치료를 위한 구강관리법에 대한 실험적 연구

Background: Teeth requiring extraction before radiotherapy in head & neck cancer patients should be removed as long as possible before the initiation of radiation therapy. Conventionally, a minimum 2-week waiting primary healing period is recommended. Although the above 2-week period is ideal, it was not uncommon for the radiotherapist and cancer patient to feel an urgent need to process with radiotherapy despite the need for dental care. Therefore, alternative approaches for early radiotherapy, including conservative endodontic treatment and a 1-week waiting primary healing period after dental extraction at the time of radiotherapy, were considered and applied based on the experimental study Materials and Methods: Eighteen dogs were processed for histopathologic wound healing. The effect of the primary endodontic treatment and extraction before early radiotherapy was examined. Results: No specific complication, such as, post-extraction wound infection, radiation osteitis and osteoradionecrosis, were encountered despite the early radiotherapy. Conclusion: Based on the experimental study, a minimum 1-week waiting primary healing period for oral care before radiotherapy is suitable for the early radiotherapy in head and neck cancer patients.
`실버케어 전문가` 미래직업 연계형 STEAM 프로그램이 초등학생의 미래지향 시간관, 진로인식 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to develop `Silver Care Expert` STEAM Program for the elementary students and investigate the effects of the program on creative thinking activity, scientific attitude and leadership. Participants were 110 elementary school students. Before and after the program, the participants were asked to take the test about future time perspective, career awareness and scientific attitude. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the total score of experimental group`s future time perspective and all 2 sub-domains was significantly improved than those of comparative group(p<.05). Second, total score of experimental groups` career awareness and all 4 sub-domains were significantly increased than those of comparative group after the STEAM program(p<.05). Third, the total score of experimental groups` scientific attitude and all 7 sub-domains were significantly improved than those of comparative group(p<.05). Fourth, according to students` post-program opinions, experimental group students showed very positive perception like that science class was very interesting and they became interested in science and technology. In conclusion, `Silver Care Expert` STEAM Program was very effective to improve elementary students` future time perspective, career awareness, scientific attitudes.
교사 - 유아 상호작용, 유아의 학업능력과 또래놀이 상호작용 및 학교준비도 간의 구조적 관계

The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationships among teacher-child interaction, young children’s academic skills and peer play interaction and school readiness. For this study, 6th years data from the panel study on korean children by korean institute of child care and education were analysed by means of structural equation modelling (SEM). The sample for this study were 1,137 young children who attended kindergarten and child care centers and their teachers. The results were as follows: first, teacher-child interaction was found to have a direct effect on young children’s school readiness and an indirect effect through academic skills and peer play interaction. Second, young children’s academic skills was found to have a direct effect on school readiness and an indirect effect through peer play interaction. Third, young children’s peer play interaction was found to have a direct effect on young children’s school readiness. Additionally young children’s academic skills was found to be the most important variable predicting school readiness. These results suggested that improving young children’s academic skills and peer play interaction and teacher’s positive interaction could help facilitate children’s school readiness.

The purpose of this study was to develop ‘Appropriate Technology’ theme STEAM Program for the elementary students and investigate the effects of the program on creative thinking activity, scientific attitude and leadership. Participants were 3grade 85 elementary school students. Before and after the program, the participants were asked to take the tests about creative thinking activity, scientific attitude and leadership. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the total score of experimental group``s creative thinking activity and all 4 sub-domains was significantly improved than those of comparative group(p<.05). Second, the total score of experimental groups’ scientific attitude was significantly improved than that of comparative group(p<.05). Among 7 sub-domains, curiosity, voluntariness, perseverance were significantly developed. Third, total score of experimental groups’ leadership was significantly increased than that of comparative group after the STEAM program (p<.05). In the first factor, the score of inner and inter personal characteristics were significantly developed.

The purpose of this study was to develop “Movie Production Project” Science-Arts convergence STEAM program for elementary students and investigate the effects of the program on career orientation of science, career awareness and creative personality. Participants were 82 elementary school students. The results of this study were as follows: First, experimental group``s total score of career orientation of science was significantly higher than that of comparative group. Among sub-areas, science learning preference, science career preference and perception on science career worth were significantly different between two groups. Experimental group``s scores were significantly higher than those of comparative group. Second, experimental group``s career awareness total score was significantly higher than that of comparative group including all sub-areas. Third, experimental group``s creative personality total score was significantly higher than that of comparative group including 2 sub-areas, independence, openness. Finally, experimental group student``s perception on the program showed that it was interesting, a little easy and they hoped to study again.
멀티미디어 자료를 활용한 과학수업이 고등학생의 과학에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of science class using the multimedia materials on high school students` attitude toward science. The subjects were 222 high school students. For this study, 11th graders at a high school were assigned to a comparison group and an experimental group. The experimental group was received science class using multimedia materials for 3 months. The research design was pretest-posttest control group design, the data were analyzed using PASW statistics 18.0 program. The types of multimedia materials used in experimental group were science fiction movies, science documentaries, TV programs, and Power Point presentations created by students. Before and after treatment, the attitude toward science tests were administered. Pre-tests and post-test score differences between 2 groups were analyzed by ANCOVA. The differences of attitude toward science based on gender were compared by analysis of covariance. And the perception on science class with multimedia materials were also investigated. The results of this study were as follows: First, the attitude toward science was improved significantly after applying science classes using multimedia materials. Especially, there were significant difference between pre-test and post-test in the score of attitude toward science class and attitude toward science content which were sub-area of attitude toward science. Second, there was no significant difference between female and male students in total score of attitude toward science. However, the attitude toward science, scientists and society, which was a sub-area of attitude toward science, female students scored significantly higher than male students. Third, 84% student showed a positive perception that the science class enhanced their interest in science. 69% the students responded that we had thought about Science-Technology-Society. Multimedia material types which the students prefered were science fiction movie, science documentaries, science TV programs, respectively.

This study had suggested the direction and implications of mathematics education for the gifted student by looking into domestic research trends in relation with mathematics education for the talented children from 2000 to 2010. 168 theses were analyzed by researching theses about mathematics education for the talented children and the total 10 kinds of special journals that are registered or to be registered at National Research Foundation of Korea in order to find a research trend about mathematics education for the talented children. As a result of analyzing theses of each year, the number of theses on mathematics education for the talented children has been increasing largely since2004 and it is steadily being conducted until now. As a result of analyzing theses for each research theme, frequency was shown in order of development research about educational course program for mathematics education for the talented children and research on characteristics of the talented children. For analysis result of research target, research targeting elementary school students has taken great importance. For the aspect of research methods, research about development of program and research tool was used in theses and qualitative research method was mainly used in journals and therefore a direction of mathematics education for the talented children was discussed according to this.
