택사산(澤瀉散) 추출물(抽出物)이 Cisplatin으로 유발(誘發)된 흰쥐의 급성신부전(急性腎不全)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objectives : This study was to observe the nephroprotective effects of the traditional prescription, Taeksa-san(TSS). TSS has generally been used for treating various renal diseases, including renal failure. Methods : Three different dosages of TSS extract were orally administered once a day for 28 days, At the 23rd day after TSS extract treatment, cisplatin was also treated. Then, 5 days after cisplatin treatment, all the rats (6 groups of 8 rats each) were sacrificed. Changes in the body weight, kidney weight, serum BUN and creatinine levels were observed with changes on the kidney MDA and GSH contents. The results were compared with captopril 100mg/kg, of which the effects on cisplatin-induced acute renal failures are already confirmed. Results : Dramatic decrease of body weight, increase of kidney weight, increase of serum BUN and creatinine levels were detected in the cisplatin control as compared with the intact control. In addition, marked increase of kidney MDA contents and decrease of kidney GSH contents were also detected in the cisplatin control as compared with the intact control. This means that cisplatin-induced ARF is induced by oxidative stress and related lipid peroxidation in the present study. However, these ARFs and inhibition of antioxidant effects induced by cisplatin were dose-dependently reduced by treatment with all three different dosages of TSS extracts. Conclusion : This study suggests that TSS extracts show favorable effects on cisplatin-induced rat ARF.
황련지황탕(黃連地黃湯)이 Streptozotocin으로 유발(誘發)된 당뇨병(糖尿病)에 미치는 영향

Objectives : The object of this study was to observe the effects of Hwangryungeehwang-tang (HRGHT), which has traditionally been used in Korean medicine for treating diabetes, by administering aqueous extracts to streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Methods : Three different dosages of HRGHT extracts were orally administered once a day for 28 days from 3 weeks after streptozotocin treatment (60 mg/kg, single intraperitoneally administered). 6 groups, of 8 rats per group were used in the present study, selected 3 weeks after streptozotocin treatment based on blood glucose levels and body weights. Changes to the body weights, blood glucose levels, serum low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), triglyceride and total cholesterol levels were observed, as well as changes on the pancreatic, hepatic and kidney malondialdehyde (MDA) contents for lipid peroxidation and glutathione contents for antioxidant effects. The results were compared with a potent antioxidant silymarin 100 mg/kg, of which the effects on streptozotocin-induced diabetes and related complications are already confirmed. Results : Significant decrease of blood glucose levels, serum LDL, total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, pancreatic, hepatic and renal MDA contents and significant increase of body weights, serum HDL levels, pancreatic, hepatic and renal GSH contents were detected in HRGHT extracts 100 and 200 mg/kg administered groups as compared to the streptozotocin control group. The lowest dosage of HRGHT treated group, 50 mg/kg, did not show any favorable effects as compared with the streptozotocin control. Conclusions : HRGHT has favorable effects on diabetes and related hyperlipidemia. Therefore, more detailed mechanism studies should be conduced in future with efficacy tests of individual herbal compositions of HRGHT and screening of the biological active compounds in the herbs.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of ME and crude protein(CP) content of diet on performance in organic broiler chicks. There were assigned to six dietary treatments of different metabolizable energy(ME) value and crude protein(CP) content : T1; ME 3,100 and 3,100 ㎉/㎏, CP 22 and 19 %, T2; ME 3,200 and 3,200 ㎉/㎏, CP 22 and 19 %, T3; ME 3,300 and 3,300 ㎉/㎏, CP 22 and 19 %, T4; ME 3,100 and 3,100 ㎉/㎏, CP 23 and 21 %, T5; ME 3,200 and 3,200 ㎉/㎏, CP 23 and 21 %, T6; ME 3,300 and 3,300㎉/㎏, CP 23 and 21 % for starter diet(0~3 week) and grower diet(4~5 week), respectively. Viability was not different significantly. Body weight gain was higher in T1 than other treatments. Feed conversion ratio was not statistically different of treatments. In serum biochemical values were not significantly different. It was concluded that organic broilers required similar ME and CP to those of regular commercial broilers.
성장초기의 격일급이가 육계 수컷의 후기 보상성장과 장기발달에 미치는 효과

A feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of skip-a-day feeding program in early growing stage of male broiler chicks on the compensatory growth, and development of visceral organs during the later realimentation period. Day-old 328 male broiler chickens( Avian x Avian) were divided into control(ad libitum feeding) and skip-a-day feeding(limited feeding) treatments. Each treatment was consisted of 4 pens( replicates) of 41 birds each. Chickens on the skip-a-day program were fasted every other day during the second wk of age(8~15 d of age). During the starter period(0~4 wk), chickens were fed a commercial crumble diet. A commercial pellet diet was fed to chickens during the finishing period( 5~8 wk). Chickens were group-weighed every week, and one bird was selected from each pen to measure carcass characteristics. The skip-a-day program delayed the growth rate of male broilers up to 4 wk of age(P<o.05). The difference in BW, however, disappeared from 5 wk of age, indicating that compensatory growth occurred following realimentation. Although not significant, feed efficiency tended to improve by the skip-a-day feeding program However, the skip-a-day program failed to reduce abdominal fat padsize and mortality rate of male broiler chicks in this feeding trial.
동애등에의 급여가 육계의 생산성 및 도체품질에 미치는 영향

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of using the Black Soldier Fly(BSF) larvae on performance in broiler chicks. Four hundred eighty broilers were distributed into 3 treatments with 4 pens at 40 birds per replicate. Treatments were corn-soybean meal based broiler diet(Control) and the basal diet replaced with BSF at the level of 3 and 6% respectively. Viability was not different significantly. Body weight gain was higher in Control than other treatments. Feed intake was not statistically different of treatments. Feed conversion ratio was lower in Control than other treatments. In serum biochemical values were not significantly different. It was concluded that organic broilers required similar ME and CP to those of regular commercial broilers. Therefore, it could be suggested that Black Soldier Fly larvae supplementation could beneficially improved the performance on broiler.
