The Sewage Treatment Process using Electromagnetic Impulses for Solid-Liquid separation in wastewater treatment plant has been evaluated. Contrary to 3-6 HRT(hydraulic Retention Time) in conventional Coagulation/Settlement Process, Solid-Liquid Separation using Electromagnetic Impulses can be treated with a tenth of conventional area. With this process, It has been seemed that the CSOs under storm weather and secondary treated wastewater can be reclaimed for water-reuse.

In the treatment of the wastewater containing metals(Cu²+, Cr³+)by using batch precipitation and flocculation followed by membrane filtration, permeate flux and removal efficiency were investigated according to by the effect of pH and coagulants, and the type of membranes used and pore size. It was found that it is most effective to use 0.45μm-polysulfone membrane and coagulant(PAC) at the conditions of the pH of 10.0∼10.5 for the case of copper containing wastewater and 0.2μm membranes and coagulants at the conditions of the pH of 8.0∼8.5 for the case of chromic containing wastewater. The permeate flux only could higher as to be used coagulants for the case of chromic containing wastewater.

This study is done to find out the optimal treating conditions of how the concentration polarization is progressing, when the mixed wastewater including heavy metals(Cu^(2+), Zn^(2+), Ni^(2+), Cr^(3+)) is treated into the process of precipitation - coagulation - crossflow microfiltration(CFMF) and when it is treated separately. The concentration polarization occurs the lower than 1 atm for copper, chrome and mixture, and the higher than 1 atm for zinc and nickel. At this pressure, concentration polarization coefficient presented the higher when the coagulant used. The differences between the pressure when concentration polarization occurred and the pressure when membrane surface concentration reached gel concentration presented the higher when the coagulant used. The cake resistance of metallic hydroxide was about 10^(10)∼10^(11) m^(-1)after concentration polarization has occurred, and it got smaller as porosity got bigger and concentration got higher, but at the above 0.2㎛ porosity size, there is no big difference

As the pressure is increasing, the flux is controlled by the resistance of membrane in the beginning, the resistance of polarization layer at the pressure when concentration polarization occurs, and the flux is dominantly controlled by the resistance of cake layer after concentration polarization is fully developed The cake resistance of metallic hydroxides was about 10^(10)~10^(11) m¹ after concentration polarization has occurred, and it got smaller as porosity got bigger and concentration got higher, but at the above 0.2 ㎛ porosity size, there is no big difference And the permeability(σ) for all the metallic hydroxides were less than 1, it means that the flux decreases a lot because of the pore blocking or the plugging on the surface of membrane.

To evaluate operation conditions tested a sewage treatment plant of G city As the average inflow is 28,920m³/d, the average inflow wastewater quality is BOD 217.3mg/ ℓ, COD 127.5 mg/ ℓ, SS 202.8 mg/ ℓ, T-N 39.4 mg/ ℓ, and T-P 4.7 mg/ ℓ, compared with plan wastewater quality, a measured values showed a little high excepted TP The range of change removal rate in 1st clarifier fixed during operation period. As the discharge wastewater quality is BOD 3.06 mg/ ℓ, COD 10.3 mg/ ℓ, SS 2.0 mg/ ℓ, T-N 19.6 mg/ ℓ, T-P 0.6 mg/ ℓ, for average, compare with a goal discharge wastewater quality, a measured values showed below excepted TN But TN approached a goal wastewater quality too after 5 months DO of anaerobic digestion tank, anoxic tank and aerobic tank are sustained 0.0~ 0.1mg/L, 0.0~2.0mg/L and 2~5mg/L respectively, and nitrification rate showed 50% as average, denitrification rate showed more than 90% A case of sludge treatment had much sludge generation rate and water content of dehydration cake showed 80%.
