          긴장성 두통에 대한 추나요법 치험 3례

          Objectives: The Purpose of this study is to report three cases on tension-type headache treated by Chuna manipulative therapy. Methods: Three patients diagnosed tension-type headache were treated with Chuna manipulative therapy only. To evaluate effect of treatment, visual analogue scale(VAS) and headache impact test(HIT) were used. We checked VAS and HIT score three times(pretreatment, post-treatment, follow-up). An interval among each evaluation time is 4 weeks. Results: At post-treatment evaluation, VAS and HIT score declined significantly compared with pre-treatment. At follow-up evaluation, the pain did not increased. Conclusions: These results suggests that Chuna manipulative therapy may be effective for tension-type headache.

          Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Korean medical treatment for chronic tension-type headache, especially chuna manual therapy on cervical vertebrae. Methods : One patient was treated with acupuncture, herbal medication and chuna manual therapy on cervical vertebrae. To evaluate the pain of head and neck, visual analog scale(VAS) was measured. Results : After treatment for 1 week, the pain of head and neck was declined from VAS 10 to VAS 3. Conclusions : Korean medical treatment including acupuncture, herbal medication and cervical chuna manual therapy is effective for chronic tension-type headache. But further studies are required to prove the effectiveness of chuna manual therapy on cevical vertebrae.

          창상을 유발한 흰쥐에서 金銀花 추출물의 치료 효과

          Objectives This study is carried out to investigate the effects of Lonicera japonica in wound-induced rats. Methods Rats were divided into 5 groups; normal (Nor), control (Veh), positive comparison (PC), Lonicera japonica 100 mg/kg (LL), Lonicera japonica 200 mg/kg (LH), each n=8. Total polyphenol and flavonoid were quantified. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis(3 ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) free radical scavenging activation were measured. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) was measured in serum. Antioxidant factors and inflammatory factors were measured in skin tissue, and also hydroxyproline content. Skin tissue was analyzed by Hematoxylin & Eosin and Masson’s trichrome staining method. Results Total polyphenol and flavonoid were 32.86±0.14 mg/g and 67.17±0.57 mg/g. The IC50 values of DPPH and ABTS free radical scavenging activation were 26.69±1.50 μg/mL and 49.33±4.52 μg/mL. ROS was significantly lower in LL and LH groups. Nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) was significantly higher in LH group and higher in LL group but not significant. Superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD-1), catalase, and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) were significantly higher in LL and LH groups. Nuclear factor kappa-B p65 (NF-κBp65), phosphorylated iκBα (p-iκBα), cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) were significantly lower in LL and LH groups. Hydroxyproline was significantly higher in LL and LH groups. The histopathologic analysis showed that skin tissue had recovered further more in LL and LH groups than in Veh group. Conclusions These results suggest that Lonicera japonica has the anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and healing effects in wound-induced rats. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2020; 30(1):47-61)

          ObjectivesThe purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on the Korean medi-cal treatment of wrist ganglion and to develop the way of treatment.MethodsWe searched the papers with a key word of ``wrist ganglion`` in Korean data-base (NDSL, KISS, Korean traditional knowledge portal) and Pubmed.ResultsTotal 5 studies were found. Major treatment method was the acupuncture in-cluding electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture and acupotomy. Minor treatments were moxibustion, wet cupping, herbal medicine and percutaneous aspiration.ConclusionsVarious treatment methods were used for curing wrist ganglion and they were effective. To map out the systemic treatment of Korean medicine on wrist ganglion, more clinical reports are needed. (J Korean Med Rehab 2014;24(4):111-116)

          원저 : 계지가부자탕(桂枝加附子湯)이 MIA로 유도된 골관절염 Rat모델에 미치는 영향

          Objectives This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Gyejigabuja-tang extracts on the Monosodium iodoacetate (MIA) induced osteoarthritis in rats. Methods Osteoarthritis was induced by injection of MIA into knee joint cavity of rats. Rats are divided into 4 groups (normal, control, positive comparison group, GBT group, each n=5). Normal group was injected by normal saline into knee joint cavity only. Control group was induced for osteoarthritis by MIA and oral medicated with distilled water. Positive comparison group was injected with MIA and taken Joins tablet 25 mg/kg. GBT group was injected with MIA and taken Gyejigabuja-tang extracts 300 mg/kg. Positive comparison group and GBT group were oral medicated for each substance once a day for 4 weeks. ALT, AST and creatinine were evaluated for hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity. Hind paw weight bearing ability was examined and inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α), PGE2, LTB4, osteocalcin and deoxypyridinoline (DPD) within serum were analysed. Knee joint structures were observed by Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E), Safranin-O staining method. Results 1. Function of liver and kidney was not affected. 2. Hind paw weight bearing ability was significantly improved. 3. IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in experimental group were significantly decreased compared with control group. 4. PGE2, LTB4, Osteocalcin and DPD in experimental group were decreased compared with control group. 5. In histopathologic observation, injury on synovial membrane and cartilage of experimental group was lesser than control group (H&E, Safranin-O staining). Conclusions Based on these results, it can be suggested that Gyejigabuja-tang has anti-inflammation effects on the MIA-induced osteoarthritis in rats. (J Korean Med Rehab 2015;25(2):51-64)

        • 봉침요법과 침전기자극술을 적용한 족근관 증후군 치험 1례

          Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a compression neuropathy and painful foot condition in which the tibial nerve is compressed as it travels through the tarsal tunnel. Patients with tarsal tunnel syndrome typically complain of numbness, dullness, pain, burning and tingling over the base of the foot and heel. Treatments typically include medication, casting with a walker boot and corticosteroid injections. In invasive way, tarsal tunnel release surgery may be recommended to decompress the area. In this report, one patient diagnosed as tarsal tunnel syndrome was treated by Korean medical treatment as bee venom and electro-acupuncture therapy. To evaluate the pain and dullness of both sole, visual analog scale(VAS) was measured. After treatment for 10 times, the pain and dullness of both sole was declined from VAS 10 to VAS 3. The results suggest that Korean medical treatment as bee venom and electro-acupuncture therapy may be effective for tarsal tunnel syndrome.

          朮附湯 추출물의 항산화 및 항염증에 대한 효과

          Objectives Even though the various alternative herbal medicine has applied for osteoarthritis (OA) treatment, its scientific proof remains uncertain. The aim of the present study evaluates the effects of Chulbu-tang on inflammatory responses in a monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis rat model. Methods OA rat model was established by MIA injection in intra-joint of rats. 7 days after, OA rats except OA control rats were administrated Chulbu-tang (100 or 200 mg/kg) or Indomathacin (5 mg/kg) once a day for 14 days. The weight-bearing ability of hind paws were measured when group isolation 0, 7, and 14 days. Western blotting was performed to examine the knockdown/overexpressing efficiency of Chulbu-tang. In addition, cartilage destruction was measured histologically. Results Chulbu-tang treatment significantly reduced the protein expressions of inflammatory mediators such as inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase 2, and inhibited inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6 through nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) inactivation. Moreover, anti-oxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase-1/2 through nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway significantly increased. Our findings indicate that Chulbu-tang has the potential therapeutic effect on OA through inhibiting the inflammatory responses via inactivating NF-κB signaling pathway. In addition, upregulation of Nrf2 led to anti-oxidant effects. Conclusions Taken together, Chulbu-tang is believed to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects, and cartilage protection for arthritis-causing rats. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2020;30(3):71-87)

          Meridian-Test를 이용한 어깨질환의 임상증례 보고

          This study is to report the effectivenes of Meridian-Test (M-test) in 2 cases on shoulder diseases. The M-test was applied to one patient diagnosed with as impingement syndrome and one patient diagnosed with tear of supraspinatus tendon. The changes in numeral rating scale and range of motion were identified to assess the progress of the treatment. After three times treatments, In example 1, the pain decreased from 6 to 0.5 and the range of flexion and abduction increased from 150° to 180°. In example 2, the pain decreased from 6.5 to 1, and the range of shoulder flexion increased from 120° to 170°, while the range of abduction increased from 90° to 170°. Based on the above results, it would be effective to apply M-test to treat shoulder diseases in these two cases. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2019;29(3):173-182)

          Objectives: The Purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medical treatment on patient of peroneal neuropathy caused by sitting cross-legged. Methods: The patient diagnosed as peroneal neuropathy was treated by Acupuncture, Bee Venom therapy, Herbal medicine. To evaluate the effects of Korean treatment, we used Range of Motion(ROM) of Ankle, Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Ankle-Hind-foot Scale(AHS), Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(DITI). Results: After treatment, ROM of Ankle, VAS, NRS, AHS were improved. Temperature Difference(${\Delta}T$) was decreased on DITI. Conclusions: This study suggests that Korean medical treatment might be effective on sitting cross-legged patient diagnosed as Peroneal Neuropathy.
