        Tough 이동구조와 상승구조의 통사적 분석

        In this paper we have presented a unified analysis of tough movement and raising predicative constructions. Chapter 2 has discussed several different structures which show a grammatical aspect between a filler NP and gap NPe in a syntactic representation of tough and similar types. Chapter 3 has analyzed the natures of tough movement and raising predicative constructions under the following topics: selectional restrictions and syntactic category restrictions in the course of tough and raising movements. Chapter 4 has observed that the triggering element of the raising construction concerned is usually the head of local structure and nominaliza-tion, but is not always. In conclusion, we believe that an insightful account of tough movement shares with the grammatical characters of raising predicative constuction from the point of view of the grammar.

        영어 관사의 친숙성 이론과 의미자질

        The main purpose of this paper is to deal with Christophersen's "familiarity and unity", Jespersen's "stages of familiarity" and writers' feature theory of the English articles. The writers' feature theory of indefinite, definite and zero article in English could be explained by the following binary features: ±Specific, ±Generic, ±Definite etc. Christophersen's theory is that there are three contextual bases: explicit contextual basis, implicit contextual basis, and situational basis. Jespersen's familiarity theory is generally stated as follows. StageⅠ, complete unfamiliarity (or ignorance). Stage Ⅱ, nearly complete familiarity. Stage Ⅲ, familiarity is so complete that no article (determinative) is needed. Familarity theory cannot explain all the English article uses because the definite article can be used in the case that it is not familiar to the hearer.

        농 학생의 은유문 어휘에 대한 의미 반응 연구

        어휘의 의미는 대체로 사전적 의미로 쓰인다. 그러나 어휘는 그 쓰임에 따라 사전적 의미와 다르게 나타난다. 은유문의 비유대상어는 비유주체와의 관계에 따라 사전적 의미와 다르게 쓰일 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 어휘가 단독으로 제시 될 때와 은유문의 비유 대사어로 제시될 때 농 학생이 어떻게 의미 반응을 하는지를 알아보았다. 연구 대상은 청각장애학교에 재학 중인 4, 5, 6학년 학생으로 수화를 주 의사소통 양식으로 사용한다. 반응 분석 결과, 농 학생은 어휘가 단독으로 제시 되었을 때 주로 자신의 직접적 경험과 관련지어 반응한다. 은유문의 비유 대상어로 제시되었을 때는 복합의미보다 단일 의미로 반응하는 경향이 있다. 또한 대부분의 농 학생은 어휘의 의미를 학교에서 습득하고 있다. 따라서 농 학생들에게 다양한 언어 경험을 통해 어취의 의미를 습득할 수 있도록 지도해야 함을 시사한다. The meanings of Lexical items are mostly used as lexical meanings. But according to the aspect how to use them, they appear to be different from the lexical meanings. The object word in the metaphoric sentence can be used to be different from lexical meaning according to its relation to the subject of metaphor. The purpose of this study is to verify how a deaf student reacts to the lexical items when they are used in different circumstances, and also to compare a deaf student's reaction to the object words in metaphoric sentence with his reaction to them when they are presented as non-metaphoric words. The high graders (fourth to sixth graders) in elementary school for the deaf mostly react with meanings in relation to the their linguistic experience to the presented lexical items. And at the same time they mainly react with simple meanings or words, not with multiple words to the presented object words of metaphoric sentence. Most deaf students acquire the meaning of the lexical item from school. Therefor it implies that deaf students be instructed lexical items through diverse linguistic experience.

        의미 기능에 의한 영어관사 분석

        The main purpose of this thesis is intended to provide some linguistic appropriateness or adequacy of the classification of the English article. In this thesis, several different classifications of the English article have been treated under the following topics: (1) four types classified by Huebner(1985), (2) the fifth type explained by Yoko Goto(1999) and (3) the sixth type suggested by the present writers. Section 1∼4 have discussed the classification derived from the different semantic functions which the English articles (Indefinite, Definite and Zero articles) have. We have analyzed so many example sentences in order to clarify semantic distinctions or differences occurring among the types established by Huebner. Section 5 has treated the idiomatic usage of the article including proper nouns with heterogeneous characteristics in English. Section 6 has suggested the new classification asserted by the writers of the English article. We have mentioned that such classification to clarify semantic distinctions and differences heavily depends on the content or the nature of the article. It may be given as a conclusion that all the classifications and some different uses of the English article have been discussed, analyzed, and determined according to the semantic functions.

        이중동사구조의 문법적 속성

        The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the grammatical properties of double-verb construction, markedness, and a fake or a real co-ordination and V1 to V2 In this paper, two similar or different double-verb constructions are dealt with under the following themes: (1) syntactic constructions of double bare verb stems(=V1 V2) and (2) fake-and and real-and structures. Chapter 2 has argued that these double-verb constructions appear only when both verbs are ″bare verb stems″ The double-verb constructions like ″come1 live2(V1 V2) are closely related to ″come1 and live2 with me, or with my family, or in my house″, and V1 V2 type in an actual usage or in a discourse context. Chapter 3 has discussed the underlying structure with these double bare verb stems. Concentrating on the results of V1 V2 construction, we have claimed that the same effects hold for V1 and V2 or V1 to V2 structures The syntactic and semantic contrasts and analysis between the fake-and and the real-and readings can be understood most sharply in a discourse context. In conclusion the first verb of V1 V2 construction is limited to the motion verbs come, go and the V1 and V2 or V1 to V2 constructions permit a wider range of bare verb stem V1
