Adsorption rates of silver thiourea on activated carbon were determined as a function of initial silver concentration. PH of solution, carbon amount, flow rate and adsorption temperature. Results thus obtained revealed that the adsorption of complex ion(Ag(CS(NH₂)₂)₃)on activated carbon follows generally to the charge collection theory.
To obtain the better understanding of flotation and chemical leaching behaviours of copper, the floatability and the ammonia leaching of metallic copper were studied. The floatability of copper with oleic acid and xanthate was tested using Hallimond tube. The extraction of copper with aqueous ammonia was carried out under the ambient pressure. The experimental results obtained are summarized as follows. 1. In flotation of copper, oleic acid and xanthate were the effective collectors, and the collecting power of oleic acid was stronger than that of xanthate. 2. The floatability of copper with oxidized sourface decreased compared with that of clean metallic copper. 3. Extraction rate of copper increasing ammonia concentration and stirring rate. 4. In the pressence of NH3, the extraction rate of copper increased linearly by adding ammonium chloride to the solution up to 0.10 M/L, but at higher concentration, the rate was diminished gradually. 5. In a solution containing ammonia only, the extraction rate of copper increasing the concentration of H2O2. However, in a solution containing both NH3 and NH4+, the presence of H2O2 did not influence on the leaching rate.
Background: Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease characterized histologically by prominent keratinocyte hyperplasia and an early inflammatory cell infiltrate. However, the pathogenesis is not fully understood yet. Recently, there has been growing interest in the probable role of a T cell mediated immune response in the pathogenesis. Especially, cytokine network involved in psoriasis has been studied. Objective : This study was done to investigate the role of Interleukin-8(IL-8) and its inducer, Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) for pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods: We performed immunohistochemical staining using antibodies for IL-8 and TNF-αin frozen skin samples of 14 psoriatic patients who had not been treated for psoriatic lesion for 1 month and 3 normal skin samples as controls. Results : There was no detectable discrete immunoreactivity for either TNF-α and IL-8 in epidermis and dermis of normal controls. In psoriatic lesions, the expression of TNF-α was found in dermal cells within the papillary dermis, particularly around blood vessels. The expression of IL-8 was presented on suprabasal keratinocytes above TNF- α-positive dermal tissue. Conclusion : Our results strongly suggest that histologic expression and functional interaction between IL-8 and its inducer, TNF-αhave significant roles in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
