Polypropylene Nanocomposite with Polypropylene-Grafted Graphene

A method for grafting polypropylene (PP) onto graphene oxide (GO) surfaces was successfully established by functionalizing GO with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (NH2-t-GO) and grafting maleic-anhydride-grafted PP (MAPP) on NH2-t-GO (MAPP-g-GO). The PP/GO nanocomposites were prepared by compounding MAPP-g-GO with virgin PP. The modulus, tensile strength, and elongation at break of the nanocomposite were improved by 48%, 37%, and 19%, respectively, by incorporating 0.6 wt% MAPP-g-GO (0.06 wt% GO). This improvement in the mechanical properties may be due to the good dispersion of GO in the PP matrix, which can be achieved via the excellent interactions between the grafted PP on GO and the matrix PP.

Angelicae Gigantis Radix (AGR, Angelica gigas ) has been used for a long time as a traditional folk medicine in Korea and oriental countries. Decursinol angelate (DCA) is structurally isomeric decursin, one of the major components of AGR. This study was performed to confirm whether DCA augments pentobarbitalinduced sleeping behaviors via the activation of GABAA-ergic systems in animals. Oral administration of DCA (10, 25 and 50 mg/kg) markedly suppressed spontaneous locomotor activity. DCA also prolonged sleeping time, and decreased the sleep latency by pentobarbital (42 mg/kg), in a dose-dependent manner, similar to muscimol, both at the hypnotic (42 mg/kg) and sub-hypnotic (28 mg/kg) dosages. Especially, DCA increased the number of sleeping animals in the sub-hypnotic dosage. DCA (50 mg/kg, p.o.) itself modulated sleep architectures; DCA reduced the counts of sleep/wake cycles. At the same time, DCA increased total sleep time, but not non-rapid eye movement (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. In the molecular experiments. DCA (0.001, 0.01 and 0.1 μg/ml) increased intracellular Cl- influx level in hypothalamic primary cultured neuronal cells of rats. In addition, DCA increased the protein expression of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65/67) and GABAA receptors subtypes. Taken together, these results suggest that DCA potentiates pentobarbital-induced sleeping behaviors through the activation of GABAA-ergic systems, and can be useful in the treatment of insomnia.
Growth Characteristics and Yield of New Variety Italian Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.), “Oasis”

The experiment aim to breed an early-maturing variety of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.). It was conducted at the Grassland and Forage Crops Division, National Institute of Animal Science, RDA, Cheonan, Korea, from 2022 to 2023. The new variety named “Oasis” is a diploid with green leaves and has a semi-erect growth habit in late fall, and an erect growth habit in early spring. With a heading date of May 10, Oasis is categorized as an early-maturing variety. Compared with the “Florida80” as a control variety, Oasis’s flag leaf was 1 mm wider and 2 cm shorter, while the plant length was 7.8 cm longer. Additionally, the ear of Oasis was 1.2 cm longer than that of Florida80, and it showed lodging resistance. The dry matter yield of Oasis (8,805 kg/ha) was higher than that of Florida80. The total digestible nutrient and crude protein contents of Oasis were 64.5%, and 9.3%, respectively, which were 1.1% and 0.6% higher than those of Florida80, respectively. The neutral and acid detergent fiber contents in Oasis were 54.2% and 30.8%, respectively, which was 1.9% and 1.4% lower than those of Florida80, respectively. These results indicate that Oasis has good dry matter yield in the most of region and especially, middle and northern region of South Korea.

본 논문에서는 영상압축과 같은 멀티미디어 어플리케이션 연산의 분석 방법을 제시한다. 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 자주 사용되는 연산패턴을 알아보고 연산의 크기를 정량적으로 분석할 수 있도록 시뮬레이터를 확장한다. 확장된 시뮬레이터는 입력된 실행구간 주소내익 연산 sub-word 크기를 동적으로 프로파일 하여 명령어 설계 시 연산자의 크기를 측정에 도움이 되는 근거를 제시하게 된다. 마지막으로 분석된 결과를 이용하여 어플러케이션의 연산 가속화를 위한 프로세서 명령어 세트를 설계하며 기존의 명령어 세트와 성능을 비교한다.
Preparation and charaterization of graphene/polypropylene nanocomposite

Polymeric nanocomposites have been extensively studied for their enormous potential applications in industrial fields. Most of the previous research materials which were used as the fillers in polymer nanocomposites include glass fiber, clay, carbon nanotubes, etc. They each possess their own outstanding properties which are very applicable in specific fields. Recently, however, graphene, a two-dimensional new allotrope of carbon, has attracted considerable interest because of its remarkable mechanical, electrical, thermal and optical properties. However, in many cases, graphene is not compatible with polymers. Functionalization of graphene is a way for improvement of the compatibility with polymers. The investigations focusing on the reinforcement of non-polar polymers by graphene however are very limited. This might be because creating the covalent bonds between graphene and non-polar polymers were difficult and aggregation between graphene sheets in the polymer matrix when electrostatic or steric protections on the graphene sheet were not applied. In this paper, we are reporting a method for grafting polypropylene (PP) on graphene to use graphene as a well-dispersible filler for compounding with virgin PP. The morphology, thermal stability, crystallization behavior and mechanical properties of the compounded nanocomposites were examined and compared with those of virgin PP.

In order to study the correlation between the pilot's cognitive ability and recovery ability by applying a physical element that can cause spatial loss of position to the pilot, a turntable was installed on the top of the motion system to give a quantitative rotational error. We propose a method of simulating flight movement to reduce a difference in feeling and an intuitive method of forward kinematic analysis.
