Spatial distribution of water flow generated by tidal current was investigated within a Zostera marina (seagrass) bed in Wonpo Bay. Water flow and elevation were observed during the seagrass growing season. The spatial distribution of water flow was numerically estimated using roughness coefficient. Water flow inside the seagrass meadow was compared with the observed values. Velocity in Zostera marina vegetated areas was approximately 25~84% lower than that of unvegetated areas. However, flow direction was the same. Intensity of the flood tide diminished appreciably within the seagrass bed, while its pattern was also affected. It is therefore concluded that water flow is influenced by Zostera marina meadows.
해조류 포자 확산을 고려한 바다숲 조성용 해중림초 적정 배치

To determine artificial reefs arrangement in marine forest, the relationship between ocean current and algal spore movement could be clarified at the study area. Ocean current of the study area has been dominated by wave-induced current due to wave actions, and algal spore movement would be affected by wave-induced current. To analyze wave-induced current at study area, field survey with floating buoy attached DGPS and numerical model (SWAN and EFDC) experiments carried out at the same time. The ocean current has formed a south and north direction along the coastal line and this was in well agreement with floating buoy movement. algal spore had moved in a SE-NW direction with wave-induced current and spores at the case 3 with the highest releasing point had shown the longest travel distance among the 4 experiment cases (releasing height is 4.5 m and travelling distance is 1,026.0 m). Therefore, the higher spore releasing point, the wider marine forest can be enhanced. And according to the survival time and attached range of algae spore, it was suited that the total marine forest length and distance between artificial reefs were within 800 m and 20 m (with 2 rows arrangement), respectively. 바다숲 조성용 해중림초의 적정 배치를 결정하기 위하여 연구해역의 해수유동과 해조류 포자 이동과의 상관관계를 밝혔다. 연구해역은 파랑의 영향으로 해빈류가 발달하는 동해 강릉 해역이며, 해조류 포자는 해빈류의 영향을 강하게 받을 것으로 판단되었다. 연구해역의 해수흐름을 파악하기 위하여 DGPS가 부착된 표류부이 실험을 하였으며, SWAN 및 EFDC 수치모델을 이용하여 해빈류의 양상을 분석하였다. 수치 실험 결과 연구해역의 해수유동은 해안선을 따라 남북방향으로 이동하고 있었으며, 이는 현장 조사와도 잘 일치하였다. 수치 실험 계산값을 바탕으로 해조류 포자의 이동경로를 분석한 결과, 포자 역시 해빈류의 이동경로를 따라 남동-북서 방향으로 이동하였다. 해조류 포자의 이동 범위는 방출 높이가 가장 높은 CASE 3 (포자 방출 높이: 4.5 m, 이동거리: 1,026.0 m)으로 나타나 높은 방출 높이가 바다숲의 확산에 유리한 것으로 판단되었다. 더불어 해조류 포자의 생존시간과 포자 착생 범위를 종합적으로 판단하였을 때, 연구해역의 바다숲 조성범위는 800 m 이내이며, 해중림초 배치는 2열로 하여 간격 20 m일 때 가장 적당함을 밝혔다.

Sea urchins are hugely destructive of marine forest ecosystems. This study aimed to determine the behavioral response of purple sea Urchins Heliocodaris crassispina to food and an electrical stimulus and to investigate the attraction radius of these stimuli, with an eye to the development of technology for controlling sea urchin numbers. Ten purple sea urchins, housed in circular acrylic tank, were tested against various attractant stimuli. In addition, an experiment was conducted with 200 purple sea urchins in a large water tank to observe movement patterns and the attractiveness of various stimuli. In the smaller experiment, eight out of 10 sea urchins were attracted to food, and these attractive effects were maintained in all except one of the affected urchins. However, the attractant effects of the electrical stimulus were maintained in only three sea urchins. The results of the larger experiment indicated that differences in the attractant power of food and an electrical stimulus were 54%-78%, and approximately 5-15% of sea urchins were attracted by the electrical stimulus.

넓은 에너지 띠를 가지고 있는 GaN는 짧은 파장의 광전소자를 제작하는데 쓰일 수 있으며, 격자상수가 맞는 기판이 없기 때문에 보통 다량의 결정성 결함이 박막 내부에 발생한다. 질화갈륨(GaN)의 Epitaxial lateral overgrowth(ELO)는 GaN의 bulk substrate가 없는 상황에서 이종기판과의 격자상수 차이에 인하여 생기는 다량의 결정성 결함을 줄이기 위한 방편으로서, hydride vapor phase epitaxy(HVPE)를 이용하여 성장조건을 다양하게 변화시켜 가며 ELOG 방식에 의해 성장된 GaN의 표면 형상을 연구해 보았다.

To quantitatively evaluate the suitability, both the physical and the ecological factor for algae were estimated. The ecological characteristics of algae was estimated by the HSI(Habitat Suitability Index) model. The estimated suitability was distributed along the same depth line, and it was determined that stability for marine afforestation was impacted by light and wave conditions, which are factors that are changed by depth. Therefore, it can be said that for successful marine afforestation, it is desirable to install reefs in belt-type areas along the same bathymetry, which ensures consistent light and wave action conditions.

Some hydraulic experiments have been conducted in order to grasp quantitatively an effectiveness of wake region created behind artificial reefs and then a new conceptual artificial reef was proposed. The effectiveness of wake region was evaluated in terms of size and material exchange rate. The size of wake region was analyzed by Reynolds stress and a material exchange rate was measured through a dye injection experiment. According to experimental results for artificial reefs having a log fame, the size of wake region was the biggest when an interval between log frames was 0. A material exchange rate was the biggest when an interval between log frames was 0.5 time of a diameter of log. Newly proposed artificial reef seemed to bring plenty of nutrients to stay longer compared with previous artificial reefs since new artificial reefs can support more stable wake region.
