The purpose of this study is to investigate young children`s sleeping habits and relationship between sleeping hours and maladjustment to kindergarten. Subjects were 141 children living in Kyunggi Province and study was performed by means of questionnaires. From the analysis of the questionnaires, it was found that the average sleeping hours was 10 hours and 2 minutes. Moreover the sleeping hours had negative effects on maladjustment to kindergarten.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the attentional capacity and the athletic movement ability in early childhood. The subjects consisted of 551 children aged from four to five years. The obstacle course of project spectrum and the Mr. CUCUI scores were used for establishing the movement ability and the attentional capability, respectively. The data from the tests were analyzed by t-test and correlation by using SPSS. The results of analysis of data exhibited that the attentional capability of childhood has no meaningful difference between boys and girls, but older children`s attentional capability was superior to younger children`s attentional capability. The attentional capability helped positively to the total athletic movement ability and the complex athletic movement abilities such as the balance and the coordination. The sex and age were also factors on developing athletic movement ability; older children and boys were better than younger children and girls, respectively, in the total athletic movement ability, the speed, the agility, the coordination and the power. But there was no difference in the balance.
전자그림책의 활용실태와 인식: 아이돌보미와 유아교육과 학생의 비교를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic information related to electronic picture books and implications for the development of high-quality in-home child care service programs by examining the perceptions and actual conditions of electronic picture books. A survey was conducted with 216 in-home childcare workers from the one Healthy Family Support Center who participated in the workshop on electronic picture books and 161 students from the Department of Early Childhood Education at two Universities as a comparison group. The findings are as follows. First, there was no difference between the two groups in recognition of ICT competencies and satisfaction with electronic picture books. Second, both groups viewed electronic picture books are effective in preparing for the information age and very positive in providing electronic picture books. Third, the valuation of electronic picture books in both groups was higher than that of paper picture books. Fourth, there was no significant difference between the two groups in valuing e-picture books by ICT competence. The results of this study provide implications for the development of systematic educational programs to enhance the job performance of in-home child providers, which will be expanded in the future, by examining ICT competencies, e-picture book actual utilization, and recognition between the in-home childcare providers and ECE students.
만 2세 영아의 그림책 활용을 통한 실외놀이 프로그램 개발

The purpose of this study was to develop outdoor play program based on picture books for 2-years old infants, and investigate their effects in the aspects of diversity of contents of outdoor play, active participation, and interest in picture books. The subjects were 8 2-years old infants and the program was conducted during 10-weeks, 2-times per week. The results of this study are as follows: In compare with the previous outdoor play, various subjects of play were founded and the infants participated more actively in the play. The interests of infants in picture books were definitely improved, too. Consequently activity of reading picture books and activity in outdoor play were jointly formed a virtuous cycle.

The purpose of this study was to investigate perception of kindergarten teachers on physical education teachers who charging physical education of young children. The subjects consist of 37 kindergarten teachers educating 3, 4, and 5-years old children and were interviewed in depth during 15-days. The results of this study are as follows: The positive perceptions were CD they are male teachers while almost of kindergarten teachers are female, (2) various type of physical education, (3) professional knowledge of physical education, and (4) regular and systematic physical activities. On the contrary, the negative perceptions were CD safety during activity, (2) weakness of connectivity to main education theme, (3) lack of understanding individual variations among children, (4) lack of diversity of activity, and (5) insufficient of manpower pool. The results of this study hopefully can help to realize the importance of making improvements and to formulate a policy concerning on physical education for children.
유아를 위한 동작활동 프로그램의 경향 -백화점 문화센터 중심으로-

The purpose of this study was to investigate trends in movement activity programs for childhood provided by culture centers in department stores. 105 culture centers in 19 department stores were searched through Internet, and 44 culture centers in 2 department stores were selected for analysis. 147 programs related to movement activities for childhood were provided by the culture centers. Physical activity programs were dominant among them, and music class and integrated play programs were included. In physical activity programs included massage, yoga, ballet, physical exercise with instruments, dance, and physical recreation. Especially, ballet and physical recreation programs were predominant among the programs. The major and career of instructors were greatly various. It is positive trend for childhood education for the whole person that various programs related with movement activities for childhood were provided in culture centers. However, a systematic program which certifies instructors` good understanding about childhood education may necessary to guarantee quality of education.

스웨덴은 몇 십 년 전만해도 문학에 관한 한 많은 면에서 주변 국가였지만, 역동적이며 혁신적인 발전을 거듭하여 최근 들어서는 뛰어난 그림책들 덕분에 국제적인 주목을 받고 있으며, 스웨덴에서 수출되는 아동 문학책이 전 세계 외국도서 매출의 3분의 1을 차지하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스웨덴의 어린이와 문화에 영향을 준 그림책의 탄생과 발전과정을 19세기 중반 이전의 그림책 준비기, 19세기말의 그림책의 탄생 및 20세기 중반 이전까지의 그림책 형성기, 20세기 중반의 그림책의 확장기, 20세기 중후반의 그림책 변화기, 그리고 20세기 후반부터 현재까지의 그림책 다양화기로 구분하고, 각 시기별 출판문화, 사회적 배경, 그림책의 문화적 특징, 대표 작가 및 작품 등을 고찰하였다. Even though Swedish picture books for children were not well developed until the middle of the 20th century, but now the Swedish picture books reaches up to 33% of the worldwide market of translated books for children. The past decade in Sweden in particuar has marked a breakthrough for contemporary Swedish literature. The great book in this filed is of course Pippi Long Stocking written by Astrid Lindgren. PiPPi Long Stocking have been translated to over a hundred languages and sold by the millions worldwide. This article was written in concerns of the history of Swedish picture books for the 19th century to recent years. In the aspect of political, social, economical, and educational prospect, the history of Swedish picture books was grouped in 5-periods; preparatory period ( upto the middle of the 19th century), birth and formative period ( upto the middle of 20th century), extension period (during the middle of the 20th century), variational period (late in the 20th century), and diversity period (upto recent years). In each period, situations of publishing business and technology, social situations, cultural characteristics of picture books, representative writers and illustrators, and their books, etc, were introduced in each historical periods.
표준보육과정 보육프로그램에 제시된 그림책의 행복 관련 요소 분석

본 연구에서는 표준보육과정 보육프로그램에 제시된 그림책을 분석하여 행복과 관련된 영역이 얼마나 언급되고 있는지 밝혀 보았다. 아직 영유아의 행복에 대한 연구는 미진하지만, 표준보육과정 보육프로그램에 제시된 그림책이 영유아 보육에 널리 사용될 것이라는 예상 하에, 제시된 그림책에 행복 관련 요소들이 얼마나 포함되어 있는지 분석해봄으로써 영유아의 행복관련 교육의 현실을 일부나마 밝혀보고자 하였다. 보육프로그램에서 제시한 그림책 총 454권 중 정보그림책, 전집류 및 절판도서를 제외한 172권을 분석 대상으로 하였다. 분석 결과 그림책에는 행복의 하위 영역인 지지감이 가장 많이 언급되어 있으며, 연령이 높아질수록 더 많은 행복요소가 포함되었고, 그림책 당 2.13요소가 언급되어 있었다. 지지감은 표준보육과정의 ‘사회관계’영역과 직결되므로 이를 충분히 반영된 것으로 분석되었다. 기타 유능감과 향상감도 전체 그림책의 60% 정도에서 언급되고 있어 고른 언급이 이루어진 것으로 분석되었다. 유능감의 세부영역에서는 통제감, 성취감, 자신감이 고루 언급되고 있으며, 연령이 많아질수록 더 많이 언급되었다. 지지감 세부영역에서는 유대감이 가장 많으며, 조력감, 수용감 순으로 언급되었다. 향상감의 세부영역에서는 몰입감, 의욕감, 기대감이 고루 언급되고 있으며, 연령이 많아질수록 더 많이 언급되었다. 그림책 한 권당 유능감은 1.32, 지지감은 1.90요소, 향상감은 1.06요소로 지지감의 세부요소가 가장 많이 언급되었다. This research is to study how happiness and related fields are covered in the picture books which are recommended by "educare guideline" of the "standard educare curriculum". Although general researches on children`s happiness are still in progress, we want to shed light on reality of education about happiness by analysing how the recommended picture books contain elements related to happiness. Our analyses of the picture books showed that (1) the picture books mentioned sense of support most, (2) older get more elements related to happiness, and (3) each book mentioned 2.13 elements on average. Since sense of support is directly connected with "social relation" of the "standard educare curriculum", we concluded that social relation is well reflected. In addition, sense of efficiency and sense of improvement are mentioned in 60% of the picture books, and that lead to our conclusion that they are reasonably reflected. Three particulars of sense of efficiency, sense of control, sense of achievement, and sense of confidence are mentioned with balance, and as older audience gets more reference. Sense of relation is most mentioned, then sense of assistance, and followed by sense of support in domain of sense of support. Three particulars of sense of improvement, sense of concentration, sense of morale, and sense of hope are also referenced with balance, and older audience gets more reference. Senses of efficiency, support, and improvement are mentioned 1.32 times, 1.90 times, and 1.06 times, respectively, per book, being sense of support most mentioned field. We can expect positive effects of promoting happiness of children with wide use of the recommended books which contain elements related to happiness.
우리나라 그림책의 일본 번역판 연구: 표지와 저작권지를 중심으로

우리나라 그림책의 일본판 번역 출판의 특성을 살펴보기 위하여, 파라텍스트에서 가장 중요한 요소인 표지와 저작권지를 중심으로 우리나라 그림책이 일본 독자들에게 어떻게 전달되고 있는지 분석하였다. 이 연구에서는 일본어로 번역 출판된 우리나라 그림책 29권과 원본 그림책 29권을 합한 총 58권의 그림책을 대상으로 총 25항목으로 된 분석틀에 따라 표지에 나타난 글과 그림의 내용 및 배열 그리고 저작권지에 제공된 출판 관련 내용을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 판형의 변형이 있었으며, 우리나라 관련 정보를 추가로 제공하고 있었다. 둘째, 표지 제목의 변형과 부제의 추가 등이 나타났다. 셋째, 표지 제목의 크기, 색상, 배열, 디자인의 변형이 있었고, 제목 배열의 변형이 있었으며, 출판사명의 크기 및 위치 변형이 나타났다. 이 연구를 통하여 한국 관련 정보 제공, 출판사명 크기 및 배치, 제목 배치 등에서 독특한 일본의 그림책 문화를 엿볼 수 있었고, 우리나라의 여러 작가에 의한 다양한 작가의 작품이 번역 출판되고 있어, 우리 그림책 번역 출판의 높은 발전 가능성을 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 번역 과정에서 나타난 다수의 판형 변형, 제목 변형, 표지 그림 변형은 양질의 번역 그림책 출판에 걸림돌이 되고 있다. Globalization on children`s literature and culture is a recent phenomenon. The challenges of translating for the young reader are getting attention. It is necessary to understand the cross-cultural reception of children`s literature in translation. The influence of cultural and linguistic aspects in translation brings a cross-cultural communication. Award winning books selected by the world`s most recognized organizations are publishing in many different languages. Korean children`s books are getting attention in the world markets and have begun to be translated into different languages. The original picture books and the translated picture books reflect their own beliefs and values. This study investigates how Korean picture books were translated into Japanese. A total of fifty eight picture books including twenty nine original Korean picture books and twenty nine picture books in Japanese translation were analyzed and compared with the texts of the titles, illustrations, and publication information on the cover and copyright pages to find whether there were any discrepancies in translation from the original books to the target books. A checklist of twenty four items was developed to analyze the cover and copyright pages of the Japanese translations of Korean picture books. Discrepancies between the translated picture books and the original picture books were found in publication information, texts, and illustrations of the cover and copyright pages. Some deletions were identified in the texts and illustrations of the target books. Based on the findings of this study, translation issues related to children`s literature are discussed.
스웨덴과 한국 보육교사의 직무 만족도와 전문성에 대한 인식 비교 연구

The purpose of this study is to compare early childhood care center teachers` general characteristics, job satisfaction, turnover intention and recognition of professionalism between Sweden and Korea. Participants are 132 swedish teachers working in Go¨ebory, Sweden and 113 Korean teachers working in Seoul, Korea. The survey was performed from December, 2003 to February, 2004 in Sweden and Korea by means of questionnaires. From the analysis of the questionnaires, it was found that the Swedish teachers are older and have much carrier than the Korean teachers. The Swedish teachers showed higher score in the job satisfaction related to human relation and the recognition of professionalism than the Korean teachers. By contrast, the job satisfaction related to working conditions, the total job satisfaction, and the turnover intention score of the Korean teachers are higher than the Swedish teachers. The turnover intention is highly correlated negatively to the job satisfaction in both countries.
