        불우시설 수용인에서 B형 간염 바이러스 표식자에 대한 역학 조사

        To investigate the seroprevalence of Hepatitis B virus markers in institutionalized population, we surveyed 1670 institutionalized persons who lived in Taegu Hope Village and 1603 controls who visited hospital for general health screening on December,1991. The poisitive rate of HBs Ag io institutionalized population (7.19%) was not significantly higher than that of control (7.05%) (p$gt;0.05). However, by age and sex matched analysis, there were some differences. The occurrence rate of HBs Ag reaches its maximal rate at forth decade, and then decreases with advancing age in institutionalized population as does it in control group, although the peak of the latter occurs a decade later. In institutionalized population there was no sexual difference in the positive rate of HBs Ag (7.02% in men and 7.42% in women), but in control group, male preponderance was seen (8.83% in men and 4.03% in women). In contrast to HBs Ag, the occurrence rate of Anti HBs in institutionalized population (10.78%) was significantly lower than that of control (30.8%) (p$lt;0.05). Female (14.1%) has higher rate of Anti HBs positivity than male (8. 4%) in Institutionalized population, but no such difference was seen in control group. Among HBs Ag positive institutionalized persons, the positive rates of HBe Ag and Anti HBe were 32.7% and 59.3% respectively. After fifth decade, the occurrence rate of HBe Ag constantly decreased with advancing age, but the reverse pattern was seen with Anti HBe.

        혈소판막 당단백질 전기영동으로 확진된 혈소판 무력증 1 예

        Glanzmann`s thrombasthenia is a rare autosomal recessive inherited bleeding disorder associated with abnormal clot retraction and a normal platelet count. This disorder is characterized by the inability of the aggregation of platelets in response to the stimulation of ADP, epinephrine or collagen but it can aggregate by ristocetin. The primary feature of this disorder is the deficiency or abnormality of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex, one of the major surface proteins of the platelet membrane participating in the aggregation between the platelets with fibrinogen. This disorder can be detected by the analysis of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex on the platelet membrane of the patient by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). We experienced one case of Glanzmann's thrombasthenia with iron deficiency anemia in a 16-year-old male, who had suffered from frequent gingival bleeding, epistaxis, and easy bruising. After platelet function test and SDS-PAGE, we diagnosed him as Glanamann`s thrombasthenia with iron deficiency anemia due to chronic blood loss.

        Preparation and Characterization of Acid-Acid Blend Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Applications

        Acid-acid blend membranes were successfully prepared using two types of sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) random copolymers with various ratios (SPAES-BP and SPAES-HPF). The blend membrane properties were investigated using proton nuclear magnetic resonance, thermogravimetric analysis, water uptake, methanol permeability, and proton conductivity measurements. The morphology of the blend membranes varied according to the SPAES-HPF ratio in the blending solution and the nanosized dispersion of the SPAES-HPF in the SPEAS-BP affected the improvement of acid-acid blend membrane properties. Consequentially, the water uptake and dimensional change decreased while the proton conductivity increased in the blend membranes involving a small amount SPAES-HPF compared with that of the SPAES-BP. For the direct methanol fuel cell performance, the power density of SPAES-BP(90)/SPAES-HPF(10) showed an enhancement of 145 mW/cm2 over that of Nafion 115 (132 mW/cm2).

        간경화증 및 소화기계 악성종양에서의 혈청 CA 19-9와 CA 125의 임상적 의의

        To analyze the clinical significance of CA 19-9 and 125 in the liver cirrhosis and malignant diseases, the levels of both tumor markers were determined in 49 patients with liver cirrhosis (38 cases with ascites and 11 cases without ascites) and 21 patients with malignant diseases (10 cases with hepatoma and 11 cases with GI malignancy) among the patients admitted in Taegu Catholic University Hospital. The results were as follows; 1) Serum Ca 19-9 levels in malignant diseases were significantly higher than those of liver cirrhosis. 2) Serum CA 19-9 levels were elevated above the cutoff value (37 u/㎖) in 29% of liver cirrhosis, in 45% of gastrointestinal malignancy, and in 50% of hepatoma. 3) Serum CA 125 levels, although was not statistically significant, were elevated in regular sequence among patients with liver cirrhosis without ascites, those with liver cirrhosis with ascites, and those with hepatoma. 4) Serum CA 125 levels were elevated above the cutoff value (35 u/㎖) in 64% of patients with liver cirrhosis without ascites, in 91% of those with liver cirrhosis with ascites, and in 100% of those with hepatoma. 5) Positive predictive value of hepatoma against liver cirrhosis was very low (about 20%) with single or combined test of CA 19-9 and CA 125. In conclusion, although both tumor markers are useful in screening test of hepatoma, quantitative evaluation of tumor markers, CA 125 and CA 19-9, is essential for hepatoma to differentiate from liver cirrhosis.

        사람 면역세포를 활용한 생식 원료 및 제품의 체질 맞춤형 면역 활성 탐색

        사상의학은 한국 고유의 전통 한의학으로 4가지 체질 즉 태양인, 태음인, 소음인, 소양인으로 분류한다. 새로운 기능성 생식제품을 개발하기 위하여 태음인(Taeumin), 소양인(Soyangin) 그리고 소음인(Soeumin)의 혈액으로부터 분리한 면역세포(림프구와 대식세포)를 이용하여 생식 원료(쌀, 보리, 율무, 콩, 팥, 차조, 가지, 무, 당근, 표고버섯, 양송이버섯, 목이버섯)와 생식제품의 면역 활성을 연구하였다. 생식원료와 생식제품 추출물들을 처리한 면역세포에서 세포 증식율, NO와 TNF-α의 증가를 면역 활성의 지표로 사용하였다. 쌀(milled rice), 팥(adzuki bean), 무(radish) 그리고 표고버섯(Lentinus edodes)을 태음인을 위한 생식 원료로 선택하였고, 보리(barley), 콩(soybean), 가지(eggplants) 그리고 양송이버섯(Agaricus bisporus)을 소양인을 위한 생식 원료로 선택하였으며, 율무(Job"s tears), 팥(adzuki bean), 당근(carrot) 그리고 목이버섯(Auricularia auricula-judae)을 소음인을 위한 생식 원료로 선택하였다. 이러한 결과를 근거하여 생식제품 개발을 위하여 생식 원료의 종류와 배합비율을 달리하여 배합비 1∼6(Mix 1∼6)을 개발하였다. 태음인의 면역 활성은 배합비 1, 배합비 2, 배합비 3, 배합비 4, 배합비 5 또는 배합비 6 추출물을 처리한 면역세포 중에서 배합비 2(Mix 2; 쌀 60%, 팥 20%, 무 10%, 표고 10%) 추출물을 처리한 면역세포에서 가장 높았다. 소양인의 면역 활성은 6개의 배합비(Mix 1∼6) 추출물 중에서 배합비 4(Mix 4: 보리 60%, 콩 20%, 가지 10%, 양송이 10%) 처리에 의해 최고로 높았다. 배합비 6(Mix 6: 율무 60%, 팥 20%, 당근 10%, 목이 10%)를 처리한 면역세포의 면역 활성 증가는 다른 5개의 추출물들(Mix 1∼5)보다 높았다. 따라서 배합비 2, 4 그리고 6은 체질 맞춤형 면역 활성생식제품을 위한 혼합물로 사용할 수 있을 것이다. Sasang constitutional medicine is a Korean traditional medicine in which individuals are classified into four constitutional types, Taeyangin, Taeumin, Soyangin, and Soeumin. To develop new functional Saengsik products, we investigated the immunostimulatory activities of raw materials of Saengsik (milled rice, barley, Job"s tears, soybean, adzuki bean, millet, eggplants, radish, carrot, Lentinus edodes, Agaricus bisporus, and Auricularia auricula-judae) and Saengsik products (Mix 1~6) in primary immune cells (lymphocytes and macrophages) isolated from blood of Taeumin, Soyangin, and Soeumin types. Increased cell proliferation as well as NO and TNF-α protein production by immune cells treated with extracts of materials of Saengsik and Saengsik products were measured as immunostimulatory parameters. We chose milled rice, adzuki bean, radish, and Lentinus edodes to study the immunostimulatory activity of Teaumin, barley, soybean, eggplants, and Agaricus bisporus to study the immunostimulatory activity of Soyangin, as well as Job"s tears, adzuki bean, carrot, and Auricularia auricula-judae to study the immunostimulatory activity of Soeumin. The mixtures (Mix 1~6) were made with different kinds and ratios of Saengsik materials based on the immunostimulatory activities of Saengsik materials. The immunostimulatory activity of Taeumin was highest in Mix 2 (rice 60%, adzuki bean 20%, radish 10%, and Lentinus edodes 10%) extract-treated immune cells among all six mixtures. The immunostimulatory activity of Soyangin responded best to Mix 4 (barley 60%, soybean 20%, eggplants 10%, and Agaricus bisporus 10%) among the six extracts (Mix 1~6). The increased immunostimulatory activity of Mix 6 (Job"s tears 60%, adzuki bean 20%, carrot 10%, and Auricularia auricula-judae 10%)-treated immune cells was higher than the other five extracts (Mix 1~5). Accordingly, Mix 2, Mix 4, and Mix 6 may be useful as mixtures for Saengsik products having personalized immunostimulatory activities.
