Recently, prestressed concrete box-girder bridges have been increasingly constructed in many countries. Therefore, the effective management of the bridges and the assurance of safety and serviceability is required. The conventional method considers seperately the condition assessment based on the visual inspection and the load-carrying capacity based on structural analysis without considering the degree of deterioration of the structures. To improve the current condition assessment and safety evaluation system of PSC box girder bridges, an improved performance assessment of PSC box girder briges has been proposed in this study. The proposed method considers not only inspection results but also structural performance based on degree of deterioration in order to assess the overall condition of PSC bridges.

Recently, the underground reinforced concrete(RC) box structures have been increasingly built in Korea. In such structures, the heat of hydration may cause serious crackings in wall member. Thus, the RC box structures needs much attention to control the hydration heat during construction. The purpose of the present study is to analyse temperature and thermal stress of base-restrained wall member which had been made in field. The time-dependent behaviors of early age concrete including temperature and thermal stress are analyzed through experimental results.

The crack widths of reinforced concrete flexural members are influenced by repetitive fatigue loadings. The bond stress-slip relation is necessary to estimate these crack widths realistically. The purpose of the present study is, therefore, to propose a realistic model for bond stress-slip relation under repeated loading. To this end, several series of tests were conducted to explore the bond-slip behavior under repeated loadings. Three different bond stress levels with various number of load cycles were considered in the tests. The present tests indicate that the bond strength and the slip at peak bond stress are not influenced much by repeated loading if bond failure docs not occur. However, the values of loaded slip and residual slip increase with the increase of load cycles. The bond stress after repeated loading approaches the ultimate bond stress under monotonic loading and the increase of bond stress after repeated loading becomes sharper as the number of repeated loads increases. The bond stress-slip relation after repeated loading was derived as a function of residual slip, bond stress level. and the number of load cycles. The models for slip and residual slip were also derived from the present test data.

Developed is a new environment-friendly concrete-block retaining wall system. The conventional analysis methods are not directly applicable because the proposed concrete-block wall system is made of by interlocking the blocks with shear keys. Therefore, the shear analysis as well as stability analysis have been conducted to secure the safety of block-wall system. Overall slope stability analysis was also performed. An appropriate strengthening method was developed to ensure the safety when the block-wall system is relatively high. The method of analysis for strengthening the concrete-block wall system was also proposed. The proposed environment-friendly concrete block retaining wall system shows reasonable safety and can be a good construction method for retaining walls and river bank walls.
