The way society works in the 21st century differs from that of 20th century, since the people are brought-up to speed regarding current technologies. The www.aflos.pe.kr site and direct e-mailing system were very useful in delivering floricultural information to extension educators, producers, and variety of individuals. The author`s one year experience indicated that extension educators and farmers are receptive to Internet technologies, and extension educators have increased the knowledge base of their clientele by responding through direct e-mails. The Internet and direct e-mailing systems were popular and powerful way of transferring floricultural information, especially agricultural extension manpower were limited because of localization of extension educators by changing national status to local governments and decreased number of extension educators through government restructuring. The direct e-mailing to approximately 503 individuals resulted about 1∼3% responses and the number of phone calls, however virus protection software for e-mail, Internet, file servers and desktops to provide the integrated real-time detection of viruses were needed. For more effective operation of direct e-mailing in the future, more specified target groups and specialized organization such as perennials, bulbs, flowering potted plants. and cut flowers. At the same time, things that have worked for last century should not be replaced with new technology, specifically, the value in one-on-one meetings should not be replaced, but rather serve as a supplement.
불소계 플라즈마에 노출된 Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>의 미세구조 변화

Ceramics are widely used as plasma resistant materials in semiconductor industries. However, the plasma erosion resistance has not been properly evaluated in terms of microstructural changes during the exposure to plasma. In this study, microstructure developments of $Al_2O_3$ were investigated under the fluorine plasma conditions. In polycrystalline alumina, uniform erosion throughout the specimen as well as spatially distributed local erosion were observed. Local erosion was much more severe in lower purity alumina. In contrast to the polycrystalline alumina, only uniform erosion was observed in single crystalline sapphire. These specimens, however, had practically the same erosion depth, which results in the incorrectly similar plasma resistance. This implies that the plasma erosion resistance of ceramics should be evaluated in terms of the microstructural changes, as well as the conventionally accepted erosion depth.
농업용 호소의 수질개선을 위한 오염총량관리제의 적용에 관한 연구

Agriculture reservoirs need a systematic approach that can control water purity and water improvement. The area under study, Bunam Lake exceeds the agricultural water standard level due to contamination from the upper stream. When the Taean Enterprise City was planned, the water quality improvement plan was applied to minimize the environmental change. However, in order to continuously maintain the water quality in the Bunam Lake, it was essential to apply the Total Pollution Load Management System (TPLMs). In order to achieve the targeted water quality in the Bunam Lake, standard flow rates and targeted water quality levels were applied to obtain the loading capacity which is as follows : BOD 1,891.2 kg/d, T-N 1,945.7 kg/d, T-P 131.7 kg/d. Also, the regional development load was calculated as, BOD 1,083.6 kg/d, T-N 942.2 kg/d, T-P 61.8 kg/d, which is required to be deceased :- by BOD 378.4 kg/d, T-N 198.9 kg/d, T-P 31.6 kg/d in order to safely achieve the targeted water quality in the Bunam Lake.

국내에서 진행되는 원예치료의 치료 성과 연구를 보다 심화ㆍ발전시키며 다각적인 효과성 입증을 위한 새로운 방향을 제시하고자, 1998년부터 2003년까지 6년간 원예 관련 학회지 발표 논문을 중심으로 분석한 결과 가장 많이 사용된 원예활동은 대부분의 대상자별 프로그램에서 아트와 크래프트, 실외에서 식물 가꾸기로 나타났으며 프로그램 진행 횟수는 11~15회, 진행 간격은 주 1회, 대상인원은 10명 미만, 원예치료 프로그램은 식물 옮겨심기의 빈도가 가장 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 원예치료가 수행된 대상자별 원예활동의 범주 및 프로그램 진행 횟수와 간격, 참여 인원, 상위빈도로 사용된 활동의 형태의 경향이 비슷하게 나타났음을 알 수 있다. 이것은 대상자별 특성을 고려한 차별적인 치료프로그램의 개발 및 적용의 여부를 검증해야 할 필요성을 보여주는 결과로 여겨진다. The study was conducted to examine the research outcomes of horticultural therapy through the papers published of academic journals in horticulture for 6 years in Korea and demonstrate its multilateral effects. The most frequent forms of horticultural activity were in most cases art and craft (type Ⅲ) and outdoor plant growing (type Ⅱ); the number of times horticultural activities were done ranged from 11 to 15 (37.7%), the frequency was once a week (81%), the number of participants was less than ten (47.8%), and the most frequent form of horticultural therapy was transplanting (72 times). Therefore, the kind of horticultural activity, the number of times and frequency of them and the number of participants tend to be similar regardless of the characteristics of participants. These findings suggest that more individualized and diversified programs of horticultural activity need to be designed and implemented.
EB-PVD법으로 코팅된 Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>의 내플라즈마 특성

Plasma resistant nanocrystalline $Y_2O_3$ films were deposited on alumina substrates through the electron-beam PVD technique. Increasing substrate temperature to $600^{\circ}C$ resulted in the textured microstructures with significantly enhanced adhesion force of the coating to the substrate. During the exposure to fluorine plasma, erosion rate of the coated specimen was higher than that of a sintered yttria specimen, but significantly lower than that of a single crystalline alumina. Considering the adhesion and erosion behaviors observed in the coated specimen prepared at $600^{\circ}C$, the deposition technique appears effective in reducing contamination particles generated from the ceramic parts in the plasma environment.
