While the request of diesel engine is recently increased due to its excellent fuel economy, the emission regulation becomes reinforced. In the case of EURO-6 that is started from 2014 and required 60% NOx reduction compared with EURO-5, It could be satisfied by hybrid system consist of advanced EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and aftertreatment system (LNT or SCR). Advanced EGR system have been used LP-EGR (Low Pressure Loop EGR) and HP-EGR (High Pressure Loop EGR) simultaneously. In this paper, we investigated the generation of condensate in inter-cooler according to LPL EGR application in TCI diesel engine.

This study is estimate the application of polycarbonate polymer glazing application for automotive. The polymer glazing made out of poly carbonate by compressed process. The manufacturing system is useful to the trend of automotive industry. The comfortable and safety test is very important matter for car application of polymer glazing. The one test is NVH test and the others is fatigue test. The NVH tests are noise and vibration test at accelerated mode and model road. Each test is make comparison between glass and polymer. The noise property is shown about 70~75㏈. So, there is no difference glass and polycarbonate. The vibration property compared with polymer, glass is batter about 50%. But there is insensitive, no difference between glass and polymer. And fatigue test is very superior in polycarbonate glazing. It is shown 80㎜ of displacement and the restoration is reach stage of perfection. We propose the test guideline about car application of polymer glazing.

Euro-6 exhaust gas regulation in order to satisfy most of the vehicles is expected to be equipped with DeNOx catalyst. The vanadium based extrusive-SCR of this paper simplifies the manufacturing process by plasticity after mixing with the wash-coat and substrate. V-based extrusive SCR used in this paper reduced manufacturing process about 5 steps to dramatically reduce the existing 10 step manufacturing process of coating-SCR catalyst, lowering the price, but vanadium(V₂O₃) is near to melting point at 690℃, the catalytic activity of V-based SCR catalyst was dropped due to sintering of active sites. In this paper, hydrothermal aging and compressive strength characteristics of V-based extrusive SCR were investigated.

Diesel vehicles are considered as one of major sources of PM, recently In-use diesel vehicle and retrofit. One of the problems of the exhaust gas temperature some diesel vehicle and retrofit is too low to apply passive regeneration DPF systems. In this study it was carried out conversion efficiency test for fresh and aged catalyst on metal DOC with cDPF. Also it was evaluated the characteristics of CO, THC conversion according to aging conditions.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation has the advantage of being low-cost and easy to control of NOx emission. Therefore, it is most frequently used to reduce NOx. It"s burden is emission and gradually increase according to strengthen . EGR cooler is mainly used on diesel engine to reduce EGR gas Temperature and increase change efficiency. Particulate Matter(PM) deposition in the EGR cooler reduces heat transfer efficiency of the cooler and increases emissions and pressure drop across the cooler. This study had performed an experiment to confirm the reduction of cooling performance by PM deposit. And confirmed the effects of PM deposit on the exhaust emission. As a result of the PM deposit 100 hours EGR cooler, the cooling performance is decreased about 25% compared to the cooling performance of Fresh cooler. Fresh cooler and Aging cooler mounted on the engine, the exhaust gas was analyzed. Aging cooler was increased compared to NOx of Fresh Cooler.

Recently, reduction of CO and THC, as well as the DOC will be used for the regeneration of the DPF. DOC deactivated by repetitive regeneration and the deactivation progresses, depending on the conversion decrease of CO, THC and NO. The metal DOC In this study used washcoat on a metal mesh plate is raised. Deactivated rapidly up to 10 hours of hydrothermal deterioration after 25, 45 hours in the deactivation rate was reduced. Results of the TEM analysis, Pt particle size increased according to the increase of the temperature and time of hydrothermal aging, this reason is due to sintering, migration and agglomeration of Pt particles.

Nitrogen oxides act as a precursor to other toxic pollutants, such as nitric acid, which causes acid rain. For these reasons, they are subject to environmental regulations for motor vehicles. Lean-burn engines to meet these regulations are needed to reduce the amount of emitted nitrogen oxides. Therefore other types of catalytic converters are needed to reduce these types of emissions. One of these is the Lean NOx Trap (LNT) or NOx absorber catalytic converter. The LNT is operated periodically, by switching the engine from lean-burn operation to rich operation. The purpose of this paper is to understand the LNT catalyst characteristics with gasoline reductant. LNT catalyst used in the experiment is mounted on BMW Lean GDi vehicles. The experiment results of using LPG gas burner, this LNT catalyst is effected by the exhaust gas temperature, O₂ concentration in exhaust gas and the amount of reductant injection. This LNT catalyst, oxygen concentration of 2%, 4% and 6% of which 6% of the NOx storage capacity is higher and high NOx conversion rate at 350℃. NOx conversion characteristics vary with the cycle time and injection, the shorter lean period(15sec) when the high NOx conversion.

The experiment of diesel pyrolysis has been performed to clarify the soot formation process without oxidation. The influences of temperature, residence time and lube oil addition on soot formation have been investigated with the particle size distribution, morphology, thermal analysis and C/H ratio. The results show that soot formation from diesel pyrolysis strongly depends on both temperature and residence time. The critical temperature for soot evolution is about 1100 oC, of which primary particle diameter is about 20 ㎚. As the temperature and residence time increase, diesel soot became more matured particle, i.e. the higher C/H ratio and the larger particle size, and the higher ignition temperature. The carbonization process of diesel soot through pryrolysis is also found to be weakly affected by dosing of 5 % lube oil to diesel fuel. The results could provide not only an information for the modelling of diesel soot formation without oxidation but also the methodology on the design of soot generator for the after treatment system.

Several problems with exhaust gas emitted by diesel engine must be solved. Especially particulate matter (PM) is the major concerns. To reduce emission of diesel soot, diesel particulate filter (DPF) has become widely known as an indispensable after-treatment component of the purification of the PM in the diesel exhaust gas. DPF is damaging by various forms such as whitening and crack due to controlled or uncontrolled regeneration and uncertain reasons, and there is no clear criterion to judge the cracked filter. So, we hope to classify the degree of filter crack using the particle emission characteristics. Filtration efficiency of PN for cracked filter is varying from time to time, it is showing a big differences by the test number. But, some failure shows no difference of PM filtration efficiency with fresh filter. In this study, we hope to find two objectives. First, it is find the reduction efficiency of PM mass & number for fresh and cracked filters. Second, we standardize the crack level of filter.
