경계선 검출 알고리듬의 검출 성능 평가를 위한 정량적인 측정 방법

This research features a method that quantitatively evaluates the performance of edge detection algorithms. Contrary to conventional methods that evaluate the performance of edge detection as a function of the amount of noise added to the input image, the proposed method is capable of assessing the performance of edge detection algoritms based on chosen parameters that influence the performance of edge detection. We have proposed a quantative measure, called average performance index, that compares the average performance of different edge detection algorithms. We have applied the method to the commonly used edge detectors, Sobel, LOG(Laplacian of Gaussian), and Canny edge detectors for images that contain. straight line edges and curved line edges. Experimental results show that our method of quantitatively evaluating the performance of edge detection algorithms can facilitate the selection of the optimal edge detection algorithm for a given task.

Background: Urapidil is a new antihypertensive agent known to diminish total peripheral vascular resistance by postsynaptic a 1-adrenergic blockade and central sympatholytic activity. The purpose of this study was to determine its effectiveness and safety in preventing hemodynamic responses to endotracheal intubation under general anesthesia. Methods: Thirty normotensive, ASA physical status I patients for elective surgery were selected randomly. They were divided into three groups(Group 1: control group with saline, Group 2: urapidil 0.4 mg/kg, Group 3: urapidil 0.5 mg/kg, n=10 in each group). The drugs were injected 3 minutes before induction with thiopental sodium(4 mg/kg) and succinylcholine(1 mg/kg). Endotracheal intubation was performed 5 minutes after the drugs injection. After endotracheal intubation, vecuronium 0.1 mg/kg was injected and 50% nitrous oxide in oxygen and 2Vo1% enflurane were inhaled. We measured the blood pressure and the heart rate with noninvasive method at one minute interval for 5 minutes. Results: In group 3, no significant increase in systolic blood pressure after endotracheal intubation was noted(p$lt;0.05). Urapidil groups showed increase in heart rate at 1, 2 minutes after urapidil injection(p$lt;0.05) and did not blunt increase in heart rate after endotracheal intubation. The side effects of urapidil(hypotension, dizziness, headache and chest tightness) occured in a patient of group 3. Conclusions: We found that the blood pressure response was effectively controlled, but the change in heart rate was not controlled by urapidil 0.5 mg/kg injection before induction.

본 연구는 역삼투 농축수의 생물복원 과정에서 Scenedesmus quadricauda 미세조류가 난분해성 유기물질의 분해와 이용에 어떻게 관여하는지에 대하여 조사하였다. 조류를 이용하여 역삼투 농축수를 처리한 결과, 염도 500 및 8000 mg Cl- /L, 연속폭기(10% CO2), 그리고 간헐조명(L/D=16/8) 조건에서 용존유기물질의 생분해도 향상과 무기영양염류의 높은 제거율을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 조류 처리수로부터 과산화수소 농도를 측정하여 조류에 기인하는 난분해성 유기물질의 분해 메커니즘을 평가하였다. 세포 성장과정에서 유기탄소원의 이용이 가능한 조류를 농축수와 같은 난분해성폐수처리에 적용하는 경우 영양염류의 동시 제거가 가능하다는 점에서 일반적으로 사용되는 전기화학적 산화기술보다지속가능성과 비용효율 면에서 상대적으로 그 적용성이 높다고 평가 할 수 있다. This study explored how Scenedesmus quadricauda microalga is involved in the degradation and subsequent assimilation of refractory organic matter during remediation of reverse osmosis concentrate. The algal cells were cultivated in the reverse osmosis concentrate with low to high salinities under the given conditions, which resulted in a remarkable increase in the biodegradability of dissolved organic matter, along with robust removal of nutrients (N and P). In this study, hydrogen peroxide from algal-treated wastewater was measured to investigate the mechanism of organic deformation which was associated with algal growth. The degradation of refractory organic matter with microalgae can be considered as more sustainable and cost-effective when compared to commonly used electrochemical oxidation techniques.

This research features a new method for automatic face recognition robust to variations in lighting, facial expression and eyewear. The new algorithm named SKKUfaces (Sungkyunkwan University faces) employs PCA (Principal Component analysis) and FLD (Fisher's Linear Discriminant) in series similarly to Fisherfaces. The fundamental difference is that SKKUfaces effectively eliminates, in the reduced PCA subspace, portions of the subspace that are responsible for variations in lighting and facial expression and then applies FLD to the resulting subspace. This results in superb discriminating power for pattern classification and excellent recognition accuracy. We also propose an efficient method to compute the between-class scatter and the within-class scatter matrices for FLD analysis. We have evaluated the performance of SKKUfaces using YALE and SKKU facial databases. Initial experimental results show that the SKKUfaces method is computationally efficient and achieves much better recognition accuracy than Fisherface method especially for facial images with variations in lighting and eyewear.
