Liposarcoma is one of the most common malignancies originating from human soft tissue. Because most of liposarcoma occur in the lower extremities or retroperitoneum, there are few reports about liposarcoma of head and neck region, including larynx and pharynx. Histologically, there are four types of liposarcoma, and prognosis and recurrence rate are different according to histologic subtype. Wide excision is the treatment of choice and liposarcoma hardly respond to primary radiotherapy. A 56-year-old man presented with voice change and foreign body sensation in laryngopharynx. Hypopharyngeal liposarcoma was diagnosed by surgical biopsy and performed totallaryngopharyngoesophagectomy and gastric pull-up. Here we report our experience on this case with review of literature.

Schwannoma is a relatively rare benign tumor which may occur from nerve sheath of the peripheral, sympathetic and cranial nerves and so on except optic and olfactory nerves which have no nerve sheath themselves. Although it occur most frequently in the head and neck region especially in the acoustic nerve, the schwannoma originated from the motor nerves including hypoglossal nerve is very rare. Recently, we have experienced a case of schwannoma originated from hypoglossal nerve in a 47-year-old female. We report this case with literature review.

There are many approaches in surgery of posterior hypopharyngeal wall cancer according to location, extent, and invasion depth of primary cancer. And many reconstruction methods have been used in reconstruction of surgical defect remaining after wide resection of primary cancer. Posterior hypopharyngeal wall cancer is relatively rare, so its surgical experiences are fewer than those of pyriform sinus cancer and there have been few reports of surgical approaches and reconstruction methods of posterior hypopharyngeal wall cancer. Recently, we experienced a case of posterior hypopharyngeal wall cancer reconstructed with longus colli flap and skin graft after failure of radial forearm free flap in a 72-year -old man and report it with the review of the literatures.

Background and Objectives : Tongue-tie, or partial ankyloglossia, is manifested by an abnormally short and thick lingual frenulum. Degree of tongue-tie varies from the mild to the rare, severe and its treatment of choice is frenulotomy. Theoretically tongue-tie can affect expression of alveolar sounds. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the degree of articulation problem and to evaluate the efficacy of frenulotomy itself on alveolar sounds in tongue-tie patients. Materials and Methods : Prospectively, the authors performed preoperative and postoperative speech evaluation using picture consonants test for tongue-tie patients. Percentage of consonants correct(PCC), mean value of each alveolar phoneme depends on articulation site were evaluated. for exclusion of other articulatory improving factors except of frenulotomy itself, postoperative picture consonants test was performed 1 month after surgery. Results : Preoperative speech evaluation was performed to 37(male 21, female 16) patients and postoperative speech evaluation was performed to 17(male 9, female 8) patients, the other 20 patients were follow-up loss. Low PCC was observed in tongue-tie patients and PCC of female was higher an at of male in 2-4 years old patients. Overall PCC was improved after frenulotomy. Preoperative mean value of liquids and fricatives was lower than the other alveolar phonemes(p<0.05) and it was improved postoperatively(p<0.05). Conclusion : Frenulotomy itself can improve the articulation of liquids and fricatives on short follow-up. Speech therapy would be needful for improvement of the other alveolar phonemes.
