        Development of Colored Index of Teeth Due to the Korean Favorite Food Intake

        Objective: After selecting the food Korean favorite ingested repeatedly given time, evaluate the degree of coloration of theteeth, it is aimed to develop indices have scored the ranking by in vitro test. Methods: Hydroxyapatite discs (10×2.0 mm) were dipped each in ten food (all 19 species) and the food cause coloring ofthe teeth, the colored discs were measured by dental chroma meter (ShadeeyenccⓇ) at the control, 30, 60 120, 240, and 420every minute, color was the basis of the vita shade guide procedure. The colored causative agent was replaced every 30minutes. The degree of coloring (digitized into 0-100) was compared relatively. Change in the darkest color gave −100points, and no change gave 0 points. Results: In this study, group colored relatively high were analyzed in the order of A (black tea), B (chocolate, [americano coffee]+chocolate, kimchistew, instant noodles), C (soy sauce, americano coffee), D (red ginseng, americano coffee+curry,caffe latte), E (red wine, black-bean-sauce, noodles, tomato sauce) and Z (curry, red pepper paste, tomato sauce+red wine,orange juice, kimchi, cola). Conclusion: Black tea commonly used in studies of whitening teeth greatly changes among the coloring changes. And in thegroup included green tea or coffee the most part, changes in the coloration of the teeth were greater. But, cola or juice werenot related to the coloring. In order black tea, chocolate, kimchi, the color change was fast in a short period of time. But theamericano changed quickly the color, after being colored cumulatively.

        Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Chloride for Preventing Dentin Hypersensitivity and Gum Diseases

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to test the efficacy and safety of dentifrice containing sodium alginate, fine calcium carbonate and sodium chloride which has effects of reducing dental hypersensitivity and anti-inflammatory effects. Methods: Human dentin specimens obtained from extracted molars were embedded with an acrylic resin and etched with citric acid. The Specimens were stored in phosphate buffered saline buffer before being brushed 1 minute only with test dentifrices. Samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. In clinical tests, 41 Korean adults brushed with distributed dentifrice for three month the run-in period of two weeks. The improvements were compared between control and experimental groups using mixtures with sodium alginate, calcium carbonate and sodium chloride in different concentrations. Results: The efficacy of dentin occlusion of dentin tubules rises as Na-alginate and calcium carbonate contents increase. The occlusion efficacy in the experimental dentifrice is 5 times better than the control. Over three-month period, the test group showed 64.4% improvements based on the initial value and 86.5% improvements compared to the control group in the reduction of dentin hypersensitivity (p<0.05). In the gingival index, the test group showed 38.1% improvements based on the initial value and 76.7% improvements compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The ingredients of sodium alginate and calcium carbonate to reduce dentin hypersensitivity and sodium chloride and cetylpyridinium chloride to prevent gingivitis were indeed effective in protecting sensitive gingival. No side effects were found throughout the whole body including the oral cavity of the subjects.

      • 충북 청원군 피반령 지역 사면 안정해석

        충청북도 청원군 피반령 절개사면에 대한 안정성 해석을 실시하였다. 야외조사를 통하여 사면에 발달된 불연속면에 대한 주향과 경사를 측정하였으며 사면에 대한 암반분류를 수행하였다. 현장사면은 암반등급에 따라 3개의 영역으로 구분하였으며 사면에서 발생이 가능한 파괴유형을 파악하기 위하여 현장지질조사를 토대로 평사투영법을 실시하였다. 평사투영 결과 A영역은 전도파괴, B영역은 평면파괴와 쐐기 파괴, C영역은 평면파괴와 전도파괴의 가능성이 있었다. 연구대상 사면의 안정성을 종합적으로 검토한 결과 쐐기 파괴나 전도 파괴의 가능성은 희박하지만 40/338의 경사와 방향성을 가진 절리 군에 의한 평면파괴가 B와 C영역에서 발생할 가능성이 높다.
