The Analysis of the Industrial Structures of Pyongyang
안형준,이영성,김현수,채호동 대한국토·도시계획학회 2022 국토계획 Vol.57 No.1
Although it is crucial, the industrial status of Pyongyang has never been analyzed. Many articles have proposed strategies for industrial cooperation between the two Koreas, however, the feasibility of such cooperation is low without a detailed analysis of the situation. This study scrutinizes Pyongyang’s industrial structure by mainly utilizing the data from the North Korean census, which included the number of working inhabitants by region and industry in the country. These data have been used by few studies related to this subject. Pyongyang’s agglomerated industry and human resources, along with the level of industrial diversity, were calculated using the aforementioned data. The following are industrial characteristics of Pyongyang that were observed when compared to cities and countries with a similar gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. From our observations, first, it is estimated that there is a higher rate of manufacturing productivity. Second, the agglomerated industry in Pyongyang further focuses on knowledge intensive fields such as science and technology activities and the information and communication industry than its counterparts. Finally, a noted urbanization effect in the city can be attributed to industrial diversity. The implications of these results can lead to significant improvement in the policies regarding industrial cooperation between the two Koreas.
Experimental study on flexural strength of reinforced modular composite profiled beams
안형준,류수현 국제구조공학회 2008 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.8 No.4
This study attempts to suggest bending reinforcement method by applying bending reinforcement to composite profile beam in which the concept of prefabrication is introduced. Profile use can be in place of framework and is effective in improvement of shear and bending strength and advantageous in long-term deflection. As a result of experiment, MPB-CB2 with improved module had higher strength and ductility than the previously published MPB-CB and MPB-LB. In case of bending reinforcement with deformed bar and built-up T-shape section based on MPB-CB2, the MPB-RB series reinforced with deformed bar were found to have higher initial stiffness, bending strength and ductility than the MPB-RT series. The less reinforcement effect of the MPB-RT series might be caused by poor concrete filling at the bottom of the built-up T-shape. In comparison between theoretical values and experimental values using minimum yield strength, the ratio between experimental value and theoretical value was shown to be 0.9 or higher except for MPB-RB16 and MPB-RT16 that have more reinforcement compared to the section, thus it is deemed that the reinforced modular composite profiled beam is highly applicable on the basis of minimum yield strength.
A variable stiffness mechanism for a movable magnet track of a linear motor stage
안형준 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.11
A movable magnet track for a linear motor stage changes the reaction force of a magnet track into vibration energy and reduces the stage base vibration. Although a movable magnet track can reduce the base vibration, the dynamic characteristic of the movable magnet track may be modified against the motion profile variation. This paper presents a variable stiffness mechanism for a movable magnet track of a linear motor stage. First, we introduce a passive Reaction force compensation (RFC) using a movable magnet track, and the Negative stiffness mechanism (NSM). Then, the variable stiffness mechanism using the NSM is used to reduce the stage base vibration. Lastly, simulations are performed using a linear motor motion stage with the NSM and the movable magnet track. The variable stiffness mechanism using the NSM not only reduces the reaction force but also adjusts the dynamic characteristic of the system.

In korea, many RC apartments have been built using bearing walls which can act as shear walls to resist lateral forces and carry the vertical load as well. For building, structural element should be researched. For example, materials, thickness for wall and slab, reinforcing bar arrangement for wall and slab, and substructure are designed desirably. Therefore, this research is aimed at introduction of characteristic and difference in structural design guides of well-known construction companies in korea and giving aid to engineers for design of RC high-rise apartments.

Recently, IACS have been developing the CSR including residual strength after marine accident according to one of GBS's requirements. Among marine accidents, stranding/grounding accidents of ship were occasionally occurred at coastal sea around a submerged rock during ship operating. If ship has damage on the hull structure, her ultimate strength will be reduced and residual strength may be decreased due to loosing the main structure members. In this report, the ultimate strength and structural capacity of VLCC with damage after grounding accident was calculated and verified. Totally, four damage scenarios were applied to mid-hold area under symmetric condition. In these simulations, the damage conditions were applied in accordance to Classification Society guidance.
