EMU, Electric Multiple Unit, is very complicated system that consists of thousand parts. If breakdown happens, work that clears cause in most cases work that clears cause in most cases is very complicated and difficult. Also it needs much times and experts of several parts. Maintenance is depending on know-how of the operator and breakdown that happen before happens often repeatedly because information management and public ownership are not achieved properly about analysis and action result. In this paper we present the case-based expert system for EMU which is able to share this know- how knowledge that data-based systemically with another operator.

The automatic/driverless operation which are great important techniques in metro railway are required to increase higher safety, greater reliability, and transport capacity. To satisfy such demands, we must have the system design and testing technique for the railway system operation. These techniques are related to the onboard train control and communication systems which include TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), ATO(Automatic Train Operation), ATC(Automatic Train Control), and TWC(Train to Wayside Communication). These sub-systems must be interfacing with not only each others but also the signal system on the ground. We tested the train control system on Test line that has been developed on the basis of the standardized type EMU for korea railway systems. This test line which is located in Sangju, have been constructed for testing 7 & 8 line of Seoul Metro railway.

EMU, Electrical Multiple Unit, stores various information in the computer system installed on the vehicle when train is running. The stored information has to be moved into a computer installed on the ground. The information is used to all kinds of planning concerned EMU, and taken advantage of maintenance with information importantly. IC memory card is used to move the information from vehicle to the ground at present. But this method has many weaknesses from hours and manpower aspect because it spends much time shifting data. So this paper proposes a method to move data as quickly and correctly as possible. We propose the method to collect the information using wireless LAN automatically in this paper. And we carried out data-transfer-test on the real field using wireless LAN to confirm possibility of this method. This paper shows the result of the data-transfer-test.

To supply the materials the right time, and the right place, it is required some information maintenance system to manage this procedure effectively. In this paper, we represent the standard products classification for EMU and the materials maintenance information system to manage the parts used EMU maintenance efficiently. The standard material classification is matched to G2B code made by the Supply Administration. The implemented material information system can perform various functions such as the inquiry of the number of stocks, the demand of the materials, and etc.

This paper proposes the method to develop information system for maintenance of urban transit. We have to develop the standard information system, but have difficult to get user"s requirement. To solve this problem, we propose the method, web-based, component-based, and prototype-based development method. Proposed method may provide a procedure to develop information system that have hard to get user"s requirement.
