Microdrilling is one of the most difficult operations because of the poor chip discharge and the weakness of tool. This study is concerned about the development of a microdrilling monitoring system that is useful for minimizing the tool breakage and enhancing the machinability in the air spindle based microdrilling. The system is composed of a drilling state detection unit and an adaptive step-feed control unit that controls the micro-stepping motor driven spindle axis. Drilling states such as overload, tood breakage are recognized by the change of the air spindle speed which is measured via the reflective photo sensor. Based on the monitoring results, the adaptive step-feed control algorithm adjusts the step increment to keep the decrease of spindle speed within a specified range. The results of evaluation tests have shown that the developed system is very effective to prevent the breakage of microdrill and improves the productivity in comparison with the conventional microdrilling.
초음파 센서를 이용한 무궤도 반송차의 위치 및 방향제어

The system that could control a position and a direction of a vehicle by means of supersonic sensors was developed. It is composed of a microcomputer, two couples of supersonic sensor, a vehicle, a power supply and interfaces. Two senders are located at a distance on the vehicle and two receivers are located at two reference coordinate points. Supersonic propagation time from each sender to each receiver was conveniently measured in terms of the repeating number of a short machine language program. Experimental results showed that a repeating number was nearly linear with a corresponding distance. Using four measurements, the present position and direction of the vehicle were calculated .And the amounts of distance to be moved and angles to be rotated to get a destination position and direction were calculated. These data were used for controlling the vehicle driven by two wheel step. Judging from movement tests, the controllability and the accuracy of position an direction of a vehicle using supersonic sensors were quite satisfactory.
범용 CNC 선반에서의 DNC 시스템 개발에 관한 연구

The study is concerned with the development of the microcomputer based DNC(Direct Numerical Control) system for a conventional CNC lathe. The DNC system consists of software modules such as part data input, NC programming, NC simulation, NC code conversion, NC code transmission, and a hardware of BTR(Behind Tape Reader) interface for communication between microcomputer and NC controller. The part and raw material data are inputted in the form of machining element and NC program is generated automatically from the machining element database. NC program is checked by displaying cutter paths. NC code is converted from ASCII code to either EIA or ISO code and then transmitted to NC controller through BTR interface by microcomputer. Evaluation test has shown that the developed system is useful the DNC of conventional CNC lathes.
