이 연구에서는 직업계고 화학공업 학과의 전문교과 교육과정과 국가수준 교육과정 및 화학 산업과의 연관성을 분석하여 화학공업 학과가 지향해야 할 산업 분야 및 교육과정 개발 방향에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고 화학공업 학과의 발전을 위한 제언을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 전국의 직업계고 화학공업 학과(총 46개과)의 교과, 기준 학과, 인력양성유형, 전공 분야 관련 자격증을 조사하였고 5명의 전문가 집단을 통해 교육과정을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 직업계고 화학공업 학과 중에서 화학공업 단일 교과로 구성된 학과는 33개과(71.7%)이고 융합학과는 13개과(28.3%)였으며 전체 직업계고의 융합학과 비율에 비해 다소 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 직업계고 화학공업 학과에서 가장 많이 적용하고 있는 인력양성유형과 자격증은 각각 화학분석기술자(28학과, 32.2%), 화학분석기능사(39학과, 42.4%)였다. 직업계고 화학공업 학과 중에서 국가수준 교육과정과 연관성이 없는 인력양성유형 및 자격증을 설정한 학과는 3개과(6.5%)였다. 셋째, 직업계고 화학공업 학과는 국가직무능력표준(NCS) 대분류 ‘화학’의 소분류(13개) 중에서 화학물질관리(48학과, 53.3%)에 대한 교육을 가장 많이 운영하고 있었다. 이상의 결과에 따라 화학공업 학과의 전문교과 교육과정 설계에 대한 컨설팅 및 평가 강화, 융합학과 표준 교육과정 개발, 화학공업 산업 변화에 따른 국가수준 교육과정의 개편 및 환경 · 안전 전문교과 교육과정과의 중복성 개선, 화학공정관리 분야 교육과정 확대, 화학공업 전문교과 교사 전문성 강화 등이 요구된다. The purposes of this study were to analyze relevance between national curriculum and curriculum of department of chemical industry in vocational high schools. For this, the study analyzed the current curriculum of 46 department of chemical industry in vocational high schools and came up with the following results: First, the departments consisting of chemical industry subject were 33(71.7%) and departments integrated with other subjects were 13(28.3%). Second, the departments set chemical analyst(32.2%) for manpower training goal the most, and set craftsman chemical analysis(42.4%) for qualifications the most. And the departments that set manpower training goal and qualifications that are not related to national curriculum were 3(6.5%). Third, there were 48(53.3%) departments that teach chemical substance management in category ‘Chemistry’ of National Competency Standards. As a result, this study made the following policy proposals: consulting and evaluation on curriculum design of department of chemical industry, standard curriculum development of departments integrated with other subjects, improving national curriculum for chemical industry, expansion of education in the field of chemical process management, and improving teacher"s profession.
