Carbon nanotube (CNT) cathodes were fabricated using nano-sized silver (Ag) powders as a bonding material between the CNTs and cathode electrodes. The effects of the powder size on the sintering behavior, the current density and emission image for CNT cathodes were investigated. As the diameter of the Ag powders decreases to 10 nm, the sintering temperature of the CNT cathode was lowered primarily due to the higher specific surface area of the Ag powders. In this study, it was demonstrated that nano-sized Ag powders can be feasibly used as a bonding material for a screen-printed CNT cathode, yielding a high current density and a uniform emission image.
분갈화 추출물과 분갈화 유래 Tectorigenin류 3종의 미백 효능에 대한 연구

Pueraria thomsonii Benth. as a medicinal ingredient, has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine to treat fever, acute dysentery, diarrhea, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The effects of P. thomsonii flower on skin have not been reported yet. In this study, the whitening effect of P. thomsonii flower was verified using B16F1 melanoma cells and HS68 fibroblasts. P. thomsonii flower extract reduced melanin contents of B16F1 cells in a dose-dependent manner. To identify its active components, we analyzed P. thomsonii flower extract using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). As a result, we identified three major isoflavones of tectorigenin, tectoridin, and tectorigenin 7-O-xylosylglucoside. At a non-cytotoxic concentration, the three components also reduced melanin contents of B16F1 cells in a dose-dependent manner. The depigmentation effects were attributed to the reduced gene expression of tyrosinase and microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF). In order to elucidate another depigmentation mechanism, their effects on DKK-1, a fibroblast-derived depigmentation factor, was determined in HS68 cells. As a result, P. thomsonii flower extracts, tectoridin and tectorigenin 7-O-xylosylglucoside, reduced DKK-1 gene expression, while tectorigenin increased DKK-1 gene expression in a dose-dependent manner. These results suggest that tectorigenin can be used as an effective whitening agent that inhibit melanin synthesis in melanocytes and promote the secretion of depigmentation factor from fibroblasts.

To investigate the effect of gummy jelly containing zinc gluconate (ZnG) and propolis extract (PE) on oral malodor, in vitro bactericidal activity, suppression of volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) in saliva, and human intervention tests were performed. Human intervention tests showed that gummy jelly containing 1.07% ZnG and 0.5% PE significantly reduced VSCs by 60.5% and 50.8% at 30 minutes, 1 hour compared to placebo. In particular, hydrogen sulfide was significantly reduced by 98.4% after 30 min. Additionally, Streptococci were decreased considerably compared with the baseline, and the in vitro minimal bactericidal concentration of the ZnG-PE combination against Streptococcus mutans was lower than that of ZnG and PE alone. Furthermore, the inhibition of saliva-derived VSCs by combining ZnG and PE was significantly greater than that by PE alone. In conclusion, these results suggest that the mastication of gummy jelly containing ZnG and PE may effectively reduce oral malodor through bactericidal activity and VSCs elimination from the oral cavity.
3극형 탄소나노튜브 캐소드의 전계방출 특성에 미치는 표면처리에 관한 연구

Carbon nanotube cathodes(CNT cathodes) with a trench structure similar to gated structure of triode-type cathode were fabricated by a screen printing method using multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The effects of surface treatments on CNT cathodes were investigated for high efficiency field emission displays(FEDs). A liquid method easily removed the organic residue and protruded the CNTs. Field emission properties were measured by using a diode-type mode. The liquid method produced a turn-on field of $1.4V/{\mu}m$. The emission current density was measured about $3.1mA/cm^{2}$ at the electric field of $3V/{\mu}m$. The liquid method showed a high potential applicable to the surface treatment for triode-type FEDs.

차세대 평판표시 소자인 전계방출 표시소자가 기술적으로 성공해서 시장에 나오기 위해서는 캐소드 기술, 아노드 기술, 진공패키징 기술 및 구동 기술의 4가지 핵심기술이 개발되어야 한다. 본 기술동향에서는 전계방출 표시소자에서 가장 중요한 핵심기술인 캐소드 기술의 동향에 대해서 중점적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 특히, 캐소드에서 전자방출 원리에 대한 기초이론을 살펴보고, 캐소드의 제작 방법에 대하여 알아본다. 또한, 현재 연구개발 중인 몇 가지 종류의 캐소드에 대해서는 동작원리와 기술적 문제점에 대하여 살펴보고,이들 캐소드가 전계방출 표시소자용 패널로 적용되는 사례에 대하여 상세하게 고찰한다.
LG-HMC의 미세먼지 유발 염증의 완화와 생체이물대사완화 효과

Diesel particulate matter (DPM) induces inflammatory cytokines in HaCaT and stimulates XRE promoter activity through AhR binding. Thus, it increases CYP gene family expression. In this study, we have elucidated inhibitory effect of LG Herbal Medicine Complex (LG-HMC) on DPM-induced XRE promoter activity and inflammatory cytokine expression. First of all, the XRE promoter activity was overexpressed by DPM treatment and the LG-HMC abrogated the XRE promoter activity. Morus alba bark extract, Scutellaria baicalensis root extract and constituents of LG-HMC, were found to be main effecters against DPM induced XRE promoter activation. We also found that DPM treatment elevated inflammatory cytokines in HaCaT and the treatment of LG-HMC, Morus alba bark extract and Scutellaria baicalensis root extract down-regulated the DPM induced inflammatory cytokine expression. Additionally, Morus alba bark extract and Scutellaria baicalensis root extract were found to act as free radical scavengers. In conclusion, we confirmed skin protective effect of LG-HMC and uncovered two components, Morus alba bark extract and Scutellaria baicalensis root extract, that play major role in protecting epidermal kertinocytes from damage.
