The preliminary design and performance test were carried out for determining dimensions of gas turbine combustor. The combustor design program was developed and applied to design our combustor, and the specific dimensions for swirler, dome and liner holes were determined by the semiempirical manner. Based on the first performance test data, the swirl angle governing the combustion characteristics of primary combustor zone was determined as 40 deg.. Using the second performance test data, the swirler dimensions were readjusted by 24 mm i.d., 34 mm o.d., and swirl angle of 45 deg.. The geometry of liner holes were determined by considering the flame stability and recirculation zone size. It was found that flame can be more easily stabilized by adjusting the swirler dimensions rather than liner holes. The geometry of swirler and liner holes were readjusted by using the final performance test data with dilution holes. Also, the combustor performance and emission characteristics were evaluated by analysis of exhaust gases.
Nanodiamond-composited Poly(ε-caprolactone) Fibrous Matrices Using Electrospinning

Nanodiamond (NDs)-composited fibrous poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) matrices were fabricated using the electrospinning. The PCL (ND/PCL) matrices contained with ND were fabricated with different ND concentrations (0.5, 1, 2, and 3 wt%) to give optimum tensile properties and preosteoblast activity. The ND/PCL matrices containing 1 wt% of ND showed the highest Young’s modulus and tensile strength through UTM (universal testing machine) test result. In vitro cell experiments using the mouse fibroblast (NIH/3T3) and mouse calvaria-derived preosteoblast (MC3T3-E1) cell lines showed that the ND/PCL matrices containing 1 wt% of ND facilitated the proliferation of MC3T3-E1, but did not no significant affect the proliferation of the NIH/3T3 cells.
Production of Uniform Microspheres Using a Simple Microfluidic Device with Silica Capillary

A microfluidic device is fabricated by using silica capillary with 50 μm inner diameter and 150 μm outer diameter. This device is simple to fabricate by pouring the silica capillary with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), then removing the capillary after curing, to form the entire micrometer regime. This device can easily regulate the size of the oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion droplets by changing the flow rate of the continuous phase. The generated emulsion droplets can be reduced to a size of about 75 μm, and produced in uniform size with a coefficient of variation of 2.6%. The polymeric microbeads using organic solvent were produced by mixing hydrophobic PDMS with PDMS-poly(ethylene glycol) to provide hydrophilicity. In addition, it was confirmed that this device can produce uniform emulsion droplets, even in the changed T-junction form. We believe that the microfluidic device with silica capillary can be used as a potential technique for the encapsulation and delivery of various therapeutic drugs.

We have fabricated a fibrous poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) matrices containing nanodiamond (ND) using a electrospinning process for bone medical. The PCL matrices contained with ND (ND/PCL) was prepared with different ND concentrations (0.5, 1, 2, and 3 wt%) to give optimum tensile properties and precursor activity. The ND/PCL matrix containing 1 wt% ND showed the highest Young's modulus and tensile strength through the universal testing machine (UTM) test results. In vitro cell experiments were carried out using mouse fibroblast (NIH/3T3) and mouse calbria-derived pioneer cell line (MC3T3-E1) to find that the ND/PCL matrix containing 1% Proliferation. The ND/PCL matrix containing 1 wt% ND increased the highest alkaline phosphate activity and calcium deposition on the matrix. The ND/PCL matrix with high tensile strength and positive preosteoblast activity is a promising material for bone regeneration and dental tissue engineering.
다단연소를 이용한 저 NOx 버너의 연소특성에 관한 연구

The characteristics of combustion and emissions in multi-staged oil burner have been experimentally studied for the various range of equivalence ratios, drop sizes and fuel formulations. Malvern system was used to measure droplet size of fuel. Light fuel oil and light fuel oil doped with pyridine($C_5H _5N$) were used to investigate the effects on fuel NOx emission. The emissions of NO and CO in exhaust gas and the flame temperatures were measured by the gas analyzer and thennocouples. NOx emissions were increased by increasing the excess air ratio (range:$lambda=1.1-1.4$) or decreasing the SMD of droplet in single-staged burner. In comparison with the single-staged burner, the emission of NOx in multi-staged burner was reduced by 50% but CO emission was slightly increased. It is found that multi-staged burner has a good capability in reducing thermal NOx resulting from the distributed heat release rate and lower flame temperature in fuel-rich and fuel-lean combustion zone. Moreover, the fuel NOx emission of the multi-staged burner is lower than that of single-staged burner, because multi-staged burner has fuel rich zone where fuel N is converted to $N_2$ more than NO. In 3-staged burner, the percentage of each stage combustion air have strong influence on emission characteristics. It is also found that NOx emission can be reduced by decreasing inner and outer air percentage or increasing middle air flow rate and CO emission is vice versa.
Polyaniline-grafted nanodiamonds for efficient photothermal cancer treatment

Polyaniline-grafted nanodiamond (PAN-ND) nanoparticles were prepared by polymerizing aniline on the surface of the amine-modified ND for efficient photothermal therapy (PTT). A series of PANs of different aniline concentrations were also prepared to compare the properties and efficiency of the PTT. The polymerization rate of aniline is faster in the presence of ND than in aniline alone. Compared to PAN nanoparticles, PAN-ND has spherical, small size and ultimately higher cell absorption efficiency. The temperature of the PAN-ND aqueous solution was increased to 44.4 °C after laser irradiation for 5 minutes. In addition, the ultraviolet absorption intensity of PAN-ND increased at low pH in the near infrared (NIR) region and showed an improved light heat effect at the cancer site. In particular, the survival rate of HeLa cells treated with PAN-ND decreased to 20% or less, suggesting high efficiency of PTT. PAN-ND can be a potential candidate for effective phototherapy.
동축 공기다단 LPG화염의 NOx 생성특성에 관한 연구

다음과 같다.(1) 과잉공기비를 증가시키면 Prompt NOx는 감소되며 연소영역의 온도는 저하되지만, N2와 O2의 농도 증가로 Thermal NOx의 발생량은 증가하였고 NOx의 총 발생량도 증가하였다. (2) 3단 공기 공급단의 선회수가 증가할수록 연료로의 원활한 공급이 어려워 Thermal NOx의 발생은 억제되며 Prompt NOx는 발생 영역은 증가한다.(3) 공기 다단 연소기를 이용한 LPG 연소시 과잉 공기비를 증가시키면 NOx의 발생이 증가하지만 3단 공기 공급단의 선회강도를 증가하는 경우 약 10% 정도의 NOx가 저감됨을 알 수 있었다.
