Vol.- No.64

건강검진 참여에 영향을 미치는 요인은 업종(OR=3.99, 95% CI 1.50-10.63), 월평균 소득(OR=4.09, 95% CI 1.48-11.32), 건강정보에 대한 관심(OR=3.27, 95% CI 1.26-8.50)이었다. Health examinations facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, contributing to the improvement of individuals’ health and the reduction of the burden on the nation's healthcare services. The purpose of this study was to identify the sociodemographic and health-related factors associated with participation in health examinations among migrant workers in South Korea. This study was a secondary data analysis study using data from the 2022 Gwangju city migrant health status survey. In this study, 243 employed migrants aged 20 years or older were selected as the study subjects. We used 18 variables and conducted logistic regression analyses to identify predictors for participation in health examinations. A total of 66.3% of the subjects participated in health examinations. The factors that influenced health examination participation were industry type (OR=3.99, 95% CI 1.50-10.63), monthly income (OR=4.09, 95% CI 1.48-11.32), and interest in health information (OR=3.27, 95% CI 1.26-8.50). Migrants who worked in agricultural, fishery, and construction industries, had a monthly income of less than 1.5 million won, and had low interest in health information were more likely to not participate in health examinations. To protect the health of migrant workers, institutional improvement is needed to supplement industrial safety regulations and supervision for small businesses in the agricultural, fishery, and construction industries, where migrants are concentrated. In addition, to raise the awareness of migrant workers about the importance of preventive health care, it is necessary to develop and utilize health information that is appropriate for their language and culture.

Vol.36 No.3

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with the self-rated health of migrant workers and to compare the difference between factors according to the length of stay. Methods: Study subjects were 8,696 migrant workers in Korea who worked at least 40 hours a week. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. Results: Of the subjects, 24.1% rated their health as poor. In the group with more than 10 years of residence in Korea, two times more people rated their health poor than the group of less than 3 years. Factors associated with health were relationship satisfaction, life satisfaction, leisure satisfaction, roommates, discrimination, residential environment satisfaction, unmet health needs, job satisfaction, and income satisfaction. Regardless of the length of stay, relationship satisfaction, unmet health needs, and job satisfaction were common influences. As the length of stay increased, while the significance of employment insurance and life satisfaction decreased, leisure satisfaction, income satisfaction, and Korean language ability increased. Conclusions: The findings suggest that measures to protect the health of migrant workers should begin early in migration. Furthermore, for influencing factors differ depending on the length of residence, health policies for migrant workers should be developed according to the different lengths.

Vol.14 No.2

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the impact of individual, social, and migration-related factors on self-rated health among Korean-Chinese and Vietnamese naturalized citizens, and to compare the predictors of self-rated health across ethnic and gender groups. Methods: A logistic regression analysis was conducted on 2,737 adult naturalized citi- zens using data from the 2022 Survey on Immigrants’ Living Condition and Labour Force. Results: A Korean-Chinese ethnicity and the female gender predicted poor self-rated health, along with older age, lower education, single status, lower income, employment status, lower life satisfaction, poor Korean language proficiency, and perceived discrimination. Life satisfaction and Korean proficiency were predictors of self-rated health among Vietnamese naturalized citizens, whereas various individual, social, and migration-related factors predicted self-rated health among the Korean-Chinese. Ethnicity, marital status, and Korean language proficiency were significant predictors of self-rated health exclusively among women. Conclusion: Ethnicity and gender significantly influenced self-rated health, with predictors varying across subgroups. This study emphasizes the need for ethnicity- and gender-sensitive health policies for naturalized citizens.
