This study utilized raw data from the Emergency Department-Based Injury In-Depth Surveillance to identify risk factors influencing the severity of traffic accident injuries among emergency department patients. The findings, obtained through frequency analysis, cross-tabulation, and logistic regression analysis, are as follows: First, severity was higher in males, individuals in technical occupations, and those with a high school education or less. Pedestrians exhibited higher injury severity among the mechanisms of injury. Second, work-related activities showed the highest severity among activity types at the theme of injury, while rural roads were identified as high-risk locations. Not using safety equipment was also associated with higher severity levels. Third, analysis of injury occurrence by days of the week revealed that distinguishing differences in severity between weekdays and weekends was challenging. This suggests the need for further research with more detailed categorization. Injuries occurring in winter demonstrated higher severity, and early morning hours were identified as a time of increased risk. Base on these results, thins study aims to contribute to the development of systematic and effective policies, as well as safety education and preventive measures, to reduce the severity of injuries from traffic accidents. Additionally, the findings are intended to serve as foundational data for future research.
국외 생물교육/과학교육 연구의 동향 - 과학 역량 관련 연구를 중심으로 -

The purpose of this study was to examine the trends in international researches related to the science competency in biology/science education. The international research articles related to science competency were surveyed and analysed, which were published in international journals and databases. As a result, there was a lack of research on competency related to the science education, but the researches related to science competency have increased to the present. Science competency researches have been found to be conducted mainly at the university level, but more recently, science competency researches have been conducted on elementary, middle and high school students. Based on the core competencies proposed in science education in the revised science curriculum of South Korea, it was found that the communication and collaboration ability were the most important. The results implied that researches related to competencies for elementary, middle and high school students should be performed more.
제 7차 교육과정 과학과 생명영역의 학습 내용 분석: 자극과 반응 단원을 중심으로

This study is to investigate the vertical connection of learning contents related to stimuli and response presented in life field of science textbooks developed under the 7th curriculum. Three kinds of middle and high science textbooks were selected to analyse the levels of science learning concepts and the inquiry types, process skills and context inquiry activities. 146 concrete concepts and 66 formal ones were presented in middle school science textbooks, and 160 concrete and 79 formal concepts were in high school ones. The number of concepts was much different by publisher, and more concepts were presented in high school science textbooks than in middle school ones. Inquiry activities related to stimuli and response were much more in middle school than high school, but more ones per school hour were presented in high school science textbooks. Types, processes and skills, and context of inquiry were not balanced according to publishers and school levels. Thus, it was concluded that learning concepts and inquiry activities should be constructed on the connection among them in developing science curriculum and textbooks considering cognitive level of learner.
과학과 교육과정 지역화 실태 조사 연구: 대전 충남 지역을 중심으로

This paper investigated the realities of localization of science curriculum. Subjects was science teachers of 103 middle schools in Daejeon metropolitan city and Chungnam area. Most middle school science teachers have lower level of the importance of curriculum localization, and were deficient of endeavor to attempt localized learning. Science teachers in Daejeon thought that they had more materials and better environments than those in Chungnam, but science teachers in both area thought that a few science teachers have endeavored for localized learning. There is a need of curriculum localization for effective and practical science education, because localization of curriculum and localized learning will contributed to the improvement of educational qualities. Thus, district educational office and local school should endeavor to try for localized learning by curriculum localization.

본 연구의 목적은 중학교 과학 영재 학생들이 생각하는 과학적 가설에 대한 이해와 좋은 과학적 가설의 조건은 무엇인지를 알아보는 것이다. 연구 분석 자료로는 충남 지역에 소재한 국립대학교의 영재 교육 프로그램에 참여하는 104명의 중학교 과학 영재 학생들이 기록한 설문지를 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 학생들은 주어진 과학적 가설에 대해 가설 성립 여부를 묻는 문항에서 정답을 맞힌 학생 수는 비교적 많았으나, 그 이유까지 정확하게 기술한 학생 수는 훨씬 적게 나타났다. 또한 중학교 과학 영재 학생들이 생각하는 과학적 가설의 조건으로는 과학적 검증 가능성, 충분한 과학적 근거의 제공, 가설 설정을 하는 데 있어 적절한 논리적 추론의 사용 등으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 과학 영재 교육 프로그램에서 다양한 가설 관련 수업이나 가설-연역적 연구를 진행하기 전에, 과학적 가설이란 무엇이며 어떤 것이 과학적 가설이 될 수 있는지에 대해 정확하고 구체적인 교육 프로그램이 제공되어야 함을 시사한다. The purpose of this paper was to look for understanding of the scientific hypothesis of the scientifically gifted middle school students. As the raw data we use the questionnaire written by 104 students participating in the special education program for the gifted students provided by the national university located in the middle region. Based on the analysis, many students answer correctly to the True/False question on the scientific hypothesis. But, there are few students to know the detail reason. In addition, students regard the followings as the condition of the scientific hypothesis: the possibility of the scientific verification, the offer of the sufficient scientific evidence and the usage of the adequate logical inference setting a hypothesis. This paper suggested in the education program for the scientifically gifted that the diverse lessons related to the hypothesis or the hypothesis-deduction research must follow after the precise and specific education program on what the scientific hypothesis is and can fit.
