Seoulmetro has operated the air cooling equipment for 57 stations to improve services focused on our customers who use Seoulmetro during the summer season and has established every year. However, a new set of problems has arisen with the cooling tower to support a heat exchange of cooling water. The most important matter is loss of efficiency in the cooling tower. The leading cause of this problem is that we use an indoor type. As the cooling tower room is located in the underground of the city because of the residents near the station. Therefore It is difficult to establish the cooling tower on the ground. But it is unsuitable for the location requirements of the underground type because it has a limited space to set up the air cooling equipment, for example, the cooling tower and a ventilating opening. As a result of such an unfavorable condition, the cooling tower doesn"t work efficiently and the warmth of cooling water because of insufficiency of a heat exchange and a refrigerator"s technical obstacle such as a high-temperature and a high-pressure has arisen. To prevent this situation, the operator tend to reduce refrigerant. Accordingly, the efficiency of the air conditioning is getting lower and lower. Study wishes to analyze the matter to improve indoor cooling tower efficiency and recommend a best practice for a person who manage the establishment.
PSD 설치에 따른 PM10 농도변화 및 냉방효과 연구

서울지하철 1~4호선을 운영하는 서울메트로와 5~8호선을 운영하는 도시철도공사의 전체역사에 대하여 2009년 말까지 PSD(Platform Screen Door) 설치공사가 완료될 예정이다. PSD설치의 주목적은 승객의 안전이지만 승강장과 선로 측의 차단으로 공기질 향상과 역사 냉방설비의 효율 상승효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 서울메트로의 역사 중 1호선 서울역과 시청역을 선정하여 2005년부터 2008년까지 공기질 및 승강장온도를 측정함으로써 PSD 설치 전ㆍ후 4년간의 변화추이를 비교분석하였으며, 이를 토대로 PSD 설치에 따른 승강장 공기질 개선효과와 냉방효과에 대해 고찰하였다. PSD for all of the Seoul subway stations is scheduled to install by the end of 2009. The main purpose of PSD installation is customer safety and besides it is known to have higher air conditioning efficiency. From 2005 to 2008, this study measured minute dust(PM10) and temperature for representative stations and perform comparative analysis for air quality and temperature change before and after PSD installation. By use of the analyzed data, this study comprehensively consider relations between PSD and platform air quality and cooling efficiency.

2008, Seoulmetro transports an average of 3,952,000 passengers every day with a 0.8% increase of the daily ridership compared to last year.(Korean Economics ‘09.01.21) Seoul subway systems ridden by a considerable number of Seoul citizens place their top priority on swiftness, safety and clean underground air quality so as to meet the customer satisfaction. One of the most important problems is to eliminate minute dust(PM10) among the pollutants such as the gas attributable to air pollution and floating particulate matter defined by the ordinance of the Ministry of Environment. Seoulmetro install and operate many kinds of air filtration facilities, however we've launched a research on "Standardization Plan on Underground Air Filtration Facility" for the installation and improvement of optimum standardized air filtration system. As a preliminary study, we're going to consider ventilation system and air filter to supply filtered metropolitan outdoor air aimed at ensuring clean underground environment.

지하철 승강장의 스크린도어가 설치되기 전에는 승강장을 통해 환기되던 공기가 스크린 도어가 설치된 후에는 터널 내부에 정체되면서 미세먼지에 의한 환경이 더 악화되고 있는 실정이며, 터널환기구가 터널에 정체된 공기의 유일한 순환구로 이용되고 있다. 스크린 도어는 기존 터널환기시스템을 설계할 때 고려되었던 사안은 아니었으며, 지하철 운행 시 스크린도어 설치로 인한 지하 터널 속에서의 공기역학적 변화는 매우 클 것이다. 그러나 지하철이 통과하는 공간인 터널환기에 대한 연구는 미미한 수준이다. 이에 열차가 지하 터널 구간을 운행할 때 발생하는 열차풍에 의한 기류속도를 측정하고, 전철구간의 자연 환기구를 통한 기류의 유입 및 유출 특성을 정량적으로 평가하여 대표적인 기류패턴을 추출함으로써 향후 지하 터널 신설 및 환기 설비 설계에 따른 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다. After installation of platform screen door (PSD) in subway stations, particulate matters (PMs), which are originally ventilated through the platform, are accumulated inside the tunnel of the subway system. It deteriorates an air quality inside the tunnel. To ventilate the accumulated PMs inside the tunnel, the natural ventilator which are located inside the tunnel (namely, tunnel ventilation system) are used as only one circulation system. In addition, the installation of PSD can affect to the aerodynamic variations inside the tunnel, since the PSD system was not considered factor when the tunnel ventilation system was designed. However, the researches about the tunnel ventilation system have not been adequate. Therefore, this study is carried out with two objectives: 1) to measure the velocity of air current by the train-induced wind, when the train passes through the tunnel, and 2) to investigate the typical patterns of air current by quantitatively evaluating the characteristics of inflow/outflow of air current which passes through the natural ventilation system. This study can suggest the basic standard to newly design the tunnel of the subway system as well as the ventilation system.

PSD(platform screen door) was completely installed at all of Seoul subway station(line 1~8) using 640million people per day by 2010. After installation of PSD the influence of train induced wind at platform decreased but is estimated to increase in subway tunnel. In this paper train induced wind occurred by pass of subway at platform was measured and analyzed using numerical analysis by computational fluid dynamics.

As the life quality is higher and higher, the requirement for the clean air in a subway station is strongly being increased. Therefore, many researches have been performed about that. Seoulmetro has taken many parts and has applied latest products for the higher level of air quality. However, by various kinds of facilities, it is hard to maintain the facilities and verify their performances. Therefore it is better to use qualified air filter system by the performance test at subway stations than to apply newly developed one without any verification. This study is focused on the performance verification for a panel structure, which consists of non-woven fabric, to suggest the standard of air filter systems.

Objective of this study was to characterize PM10 sources on subway tunnels and development of simple particulate matters measuring device based on wireless sensor network. A new wireless sensor module PMX has been designed and manufactured to measure PM10 and PM2.5 simultaneously. The measurements have been conducted at a specific subway station on the Seoul metro line. The accuracy of the device was verified and compared with commercial measuring device based on weighting method.
