In order to investigate the prevalence and the factors related to the depression and burnout among private practice physicians, a SDS(self-rating depression scale) and MBI(Maslach burnout inventory) -based questionnaire study was performed on 344 private practice physicians in Kwangju and Chonnam area. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Mean SDS score was 38.3 in total subjects and the prevalence rate of depression was 48.8%. As for the frequency order of the items of the SDS, decreased libido, diurnal variation and hopelessness were relatively high, and suicidal rumination, constipation and agitation were noted low. 2. Noticeable factors related with depression were smoking, coffee use, sleeping time and satisfaction with income. 3. As a result a factor analysis with the MBI data, five factors named as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, personal accomplishment, involvement and self-interest were extracted. Statistical analysis of the data demonstrated that 48.8% of the physician sample reported high scores on emotional exhaustion, and 45.3% scored high on depersonalization. Personal accomplishment scores remained high with 45.3% reporting high personal accomplishment. 4. Variables related to the burnout were age, sleeping time, family size religion, medical speciality, duration of practice setting, visiting patient number, closing day per month and job satisfaction. 5. In the relationship with depression, burnout was closely related to depression. Above results showed that the high percentage of private practice physicians experiencing depression and burnout suggests the need for further research to establish trends, to identify causal factors, and to develop avenues to reduce stress.
한국인 주요 우울장애환자에서 세로토닌 수송체 유전자 다형성

Objectives: There were many studies on serotonin transporter gene(5HTT), one of strong candidate genes related to depression. The results were controversial and even contradictory. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the serotonin transporter gene and Korean major depressive disorder. Methods: The sample consisted of 58 Korean patients with major depressive disorder diagnosed according to DSM-IV criteria and 100 normal controls. They were genotyped at the serotonin transporter gene-linked polymorphic region (5HTTLPR) as s/s, s/1 1/1 genotypes. Results: There were no significant differences in genotypes between two groups(X2=4.490, df=2, p=0.106). There were no significant differences in allele frequency between two groups(X2=0.667, df=1, p=0.414). Conclusion: These results suggest that there is no association between polymorphism of the serotonin transporter gene and Korean major depressive disorder.
인체 모델을 이용한 노인 보행기의 하지관절 기구학과 근활성에 미치는 영향

본 연구에서는 한국인 표준체형과 유사한 사람의 의료 영상 자료를 이용하여 인체 골격계 모델을 만들었다. 이를 동역학 해석 상용 소프웨트어인 RecurDyn<SUP>TM</SUP> 에 탑재시켜 인체 시뮬레이션 모듈을 개발하였고, 노인의 보행 동작해석을 통해 모델을 검증하여 보행기(elderly walker) 사용 유무에 따른 앉기-서기 및 보행을 분석하였다. 노인이 보행기를 사용하였을 때 앉기-서기 동작 시 하지관절 기구학의 변화는 미비하였고, 보행 시 각 관절의 가동범위가 조금 줄었고 동작시간이 상당히 길어졌다. 또한 근전도 해석결과 일부 발목 주변 근육들과 햄스트링 근육에서 근활성치가 줄거나 활성시간이 줄었다. 이러한 변화는 보행기를 통해 보행할 때 하지의 기여도가 감소했기 때문이라고 생각되었다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 시뮬레이션 기술은 여러 가지의 생체역학 연구에 널리 활용될 것으로 생각된다. The purposes of this study were to develop a dynamic model of a human and to investigate the effect of a walker on an elderly subject’s motions, such as sit-to-stand (STS) motion and normal gait, by using this model. A human model consisting of 15 segments and 14 joints was developed, embedded in RecurDyn<SUP>TM</SUP>, and connected through a Simulink<SUP>®</SUP> interface with collected motion data. The model was validated by comparisons between joint kinematic results from inverse dynamics (Matlab<SUP>®</SUP>-based in-house program) and from RecurDyn<SUP>TM</SUP> simulation during walking. The results indicate that the elderly walker induced a longer movement time in walking, such that the speed of joint flexion/extension was slower than that during a normal gait. The results showed that the muscle activities of parts of the ankle and hamstring were altered by use of the elderly walker. The technique used in this study could be very helpful in applications to biomechanical fields.
글로벌 녹색건축표준설계기준 재료시공분야(KBC-MC)의 개발

There are eighteen specific codes in relation with building construction including KBC(Korea Building Code) to achieve appropriate construction quality. These codes were established or revised in a separate way focusing on the safety and functional purpose without an agreement of technical terms, and don"t reflect the current trends of green design, sustainable development and public welfare. In this point of view it is necessary to revise the KBC globalized including green and welfare beyond the scope, safety and function, in the existing code. This paper aims to propose the orientation to establish or revise the KBC by comparison of codes of seven countries, analyzing their features and implications on the area of building material and construction (KBC-MC).
