MeIamine is a member of a class of compounds known as the triazines. It is one of the most recent additions to the field of important industrial chemicals. It has shown Great promise in the field of amino plastics owing to its remarkable stability to heat and light; and its reactions lead to the belief that it will become an increasing useful basic materaial for organic synthes-is. The purpose of this paper is a study of the meIamine preparation in atmospheric pressure. without the useing of the liquid ammonium and the seperation dicyandiamide from caicium cyanamide, this study has been attempted. Pyrolysis of anhydrous cyanamide, and dicyandiamide, In the open reactor or in the presence of solvents at atmospheric pressure, does not give rise to high yilds of melamine. Some descriptive and determinative chemical and physical properties of the melamine, picyandiamide, and cyanamide was also given in this paper.
