현대사회는 수많은 정보 속에 더불어 살아가고 있다. 이러한 시대의 흐름에 따라 사회를 구성하고 있는 여러 집단의 세분화, 직업의 전문화, 직종의 다양화가 이루어졌으며, 각 분야의 사회구성원들은 자신의 전문분야에 대한 보다 심도 있고 폭넓은 정보의 중요성이 인식되었다. 때문에 더 신속하고 정확하며 심도 있는 정보를 취하는 일은 한 개인이나 집단에 있어 더없이 필요하다. 무용만을 전문으로 하는 매체가 없는 우리나라 무용계에서 무용전문지가 발간되고 있다는 것은 무엇보다도 큰 의미를 지니고 있다고 할 수 있다. 무용전문지는 무용계 전체의 힘을 기르고, 무용문화의 지적수준을 선도할 수 있는 매체로써, 일회의 공연으로 사라져 버리는 무용문화에 대한 실제적인 자료라고 생각할 때, 그 중요성이 더욱 크게 부각되어진다. 따라서, 본 연구는 무용전문지가 지니고 있는 문제점과 그 가능성을 밝혀 봄으로써, 그에 대한 보다 바람직한 방안 제시에 목적을 두었으며, 국내에서 발행되고 있는 무용 전문지 월간『춤』,『몸』,『춤과 사람들』의 운영실태와 지면수를 통한 내용분석을 연구하여 무용전문지의 편집 제작 경향을 비교 분석 하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과로 무용 전문지의 균형있는 발전을 도모하는 한편, 무용전문지가 무용계에 끼치고 있는 영향력은 물론 바람직한 발전방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구 결과, 우리나라의 무용전문지는 각 무용전문지사의 상호 활발한 정보교환을 통해 독자적인 영역의 연구 개발과 그에 따르는 창의적 편집 체제의 개발이 요구되어지며, 적극적인 무용인의 활동 전개를 위해 구체적인 정보기능의 강화와 무용평의 평론대상을 무용계 전반으로 확대하여 객관성 있는 논평과 폭넓은 보도에 주력해야 한다. 또한 독자층에 대한 연구와 그들의 의견을 반영할 수 있는 현실적인 방안들이 우선되어야 할 것이다. 이는 무용전문지사의 노력 이외에도, 정부와 무용계의 적극적인 지원과 지속적인 관심이 수반되어질 때에 실현될 수 있으며, 그리하여 한국무용계의 적극적이고 활발한 해외 교류와 전문 인력의 양성을 통하여 독창적인 예술 영역의 확보를 룰 수 있다. People living in current societies are facing with a myriad of information. For the reason, it is necessary for both individuals and groups to acquire profound information quickly and precisely. Publishing dance magazines in South Korea where media only for dance have not been created in the dance circle is considered considerably significant. Dance magazine is a medium which enhances the power of the entire dance circle and increases the intellectual level of dance culture. Given the fact that it serves as an actual data on dance which disappears after one-time performance, the medium is of even more importance. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to look at the issues and the possibility of dance magazines and to propose more desirable ways. In this study, this researcher analyzed the publication status and pages of dance magazines monthly published in South Korea -- Dance, Body, and Dance and People, and performed a comparative analysis on the edition directions of the dance magazines. As a result, this researcher tried to find a way to achieve balanced development of the dancing magazines, found ways to achieve balanced development of the dance magazines, investigate the influence of the magazines on the dance circle, and seek a desirable development direction. The result of this study indicated that it is necessary for domestic dance magazine publishers to research and develop an unique area through the active exchanges of information between the publishers and thus develop a creative editorial system. It is necessary for the publishers to provide specific information to help dancers take more activities, and make an effort in reporting objective reviews and a wide range of subjects through the expansion of dance critiques. In addition, it is necessary to give priority to realistic measures helping academic readers and reflecting their opinions. Such environments can be realized when the active supports and constant interests of the government and the dance circle are to be accompanied with the efforts of the dance magazine publishers. And, through the active exchanges of the Korean dance circle with other international groups and the cultivation of professional human resources, it is possible to acquire an unique artistic area.
