        Dental care for patients taking antiresorptive drugs: a literature review

        Antiresorptive drugs (ARDs), such as bisphosphonates or denosumab, that prevent bone resorption are widely used in patients with osteoporosis or with cancer that has metastasized to the bones. Although osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is a well-documented complication of ARD use, the benefits ARDs outweigh the complication. Thus, research has focused on finding ways to prevent or reduce the risk of developing ONJ. Dentists, as part of a multi-professional team, have a critical role in preventing ONJ. However, many dentists tend to hesitate to provide dental care to patients with ONJ, or tend to think that it is a problem to be dealt with by oral surgeons. This review gives an overview of ARD-related ONJ and provides the guidelines for dental care in patients taking ARDs to lower the risk of developing ONJ.

        A study on the compatibility between one-bottle dentin adhesives and composite resins using micro-shear bond strength

        Objectives: This study was performed to determine whether the combined use of onebottle self-etch adhesives and composite resins from same manufacturers have better bond strengths than combinations of adhesive and resins from different manufacturers. Materials and Methods: 25 experimental micro-shear bond test groups were made from combinations of five dentin adhesives and five composite resins with extracted human molars stored in saline for 24 hr. Testing was performed using the wire-loop method and a universal testing machine. Bond strength data was statistically analyzed using two way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey’s post hoc test. Results: Two way ANOVA revealed significant differences for the factors of dentin adhesives and composite resins, and significant interaction effect (p < 0.001). All combinations with Xeno V (Dentsply De Trey) and Clearfil S3 Bond (Kuraray Dental) adhesives showed no significant differences in micro-shear bond strength, but other adhesives showed significant differences depending on the composite resin (p < 0.05). Contrary to the other adhesives, Xeno V and BondForce (Tokuyama Dental) had higher bond strengths with the same manufacturer’s composite resin than other manufacturer’s composite resin. Conclusions: Not all combinations of adhesive and composite resin by same manufacturers failed to show significantly higher bond strengths than mixed manufacturer combinations.

        Cytotoxicity of newly developed pozzolan cement and other root-end filling materials on human periodontal ligament cell

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate in vitro cytotoxicity of thepozzolan cement and other root-end filling materials using human periodontal ligamentcell. Materials and Methods: Endocem (Maruchi), white ProRoot MTA (Dentsply), whiteAngelus MTA (Angelus), and Super EBA (Bosworth Co.) were tested after set completelyin an incubator at 37℃ for 7 days, Endocem was tested in two ways: 1) immediatelyafter mixing (fresh specimens) and 2) after setting completely like other experimentalmaterials. The methods for assessment included light microscopic examination, cellcounting and WST-1 assay on human periodontal ligament cell. Results: In the resultsof microscopic examination and cell counting, Super EBA showed significantly lowerviable cell than any other groups (p < 0.05). As the results of WST-1 assay, comparedwith untreated control group, there was no significant cell viability of the Endocemgroup. However, the fresh mixed Endocem group had significantly less cell viability. Thecells exposed to ProRoot MTA and Angelus MTA showed the highest viability, whereasthe cells exposed to Super EBA displayed the lowest viability (p < 0.05). Conclusions:The cytotoxicity of the pozzolan cement (Endocem) was comparable with ProRootMTA and Angelus MTA. Considering the difficult manipulation and long setting time ofProRoot MTA and Angelus MTA, Endocem can be used as the alternative of retrofilling material.

        남자 대학생의 화장품 소비현황 및 메이크업 인식에 관한 연구

        This study aimed to provide basic data needed to develop marketing strategies for men’s cosmetics. The results found the following: Male University students tend to spend KRW 100,000-200,000 to buy cosmetics semiannually. When asked how much they spend to buy cosmetics per month for appearance management, ‘KRW 30,000-50,000’ was the most responded. In terms of perception of men’s makeup, ‘importance of appearance’ was the highest factor. According to analysis of differences in the perception of men’s makeup, respondents were mostly favorable to it as they were older. As dating experience and monthly allowance increased, perception of makeup utilization and makeup purchase was higher. As expenses for cosmetics increased, perception of men’s makeup, makeup utilization, acceptance of makeup and purchase of makeup increased. When the expenses for cosmetics were ‘KRW 100,000-200,000’, however, perception of the importance of appearance was relatively high. As average monthly expenses for cosmetics increased, perception of men’s makeup, makeup utilization, acceptance of makeup and purchase of makeup was high.

        SARIMA 시계열 모형을 이용한 환동해 물동량 예측

        The purpose of this paper was to analyze the trend of container volume using the Seasonal Autoregressive Intergrated Moving Average (SARIMA) model. To this end, this paper used monthly time-series data of the East Sea Rim from 2001 to 2019. As a result, the SARIMA(2,1,1)12 model was identified as the most suitable model, and the superiority of the SARIMA model was demonstrated by comparative analysis with the ARIMA model. In addition, to confirmed forecasting accuracy of SARIMA model, this paper compares the volume of predict container to the actual volume. According to the forecast for 24 months from 2020 to 2021, the volume of containaer increased from 60,100,000Ton in 2020 to 64,900,000Ton in 2021

        화물철도 노선별 운송 품목의 경쟁구조에 관한 연구 : 우리나라를 중심으로

        development. Thus, the transportation system is also changing to social problems and environmental damage, and the importance of rail freight is increasing with changes in the international logistics environment. This study analyzes railway freight competition structure using freight volume and suggests improving the competitiveness of railroad freight. To achieve the research purpose, this study was conducted using the Hirshmann-Herfindahl Index(HHI) and Location Quotients(LQ) method. As a result, the concentration trend of railway trends has increased from 0.213 to 0.238 during the last 9 years, and LQ analysis has enabled the identification of local competition lines by item. The study result confirmed that policy measures on railway freight system, railway infrastructure construction and railway operation are necessary to enhance railway competitiveness.

        미세 치근단 수술의 성공과 실패

        최근의 근관치료학 분야에서 외과적 재치료는 수술현미경, 초음파기구, 미세수술기구 등의 도입으로 많은 변화가 있어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 전통적인 치근단 수술법과 비교하여 미세 치근단 수술의 주요 술식을 알아보고 이미 출간된 논문에 근거 하여 미세 치근단 수술의 성공과 실패 그리고 성공과 실패에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 고찰하고자 하였다. 수술현미경은 수술부위를 밝게 확대해서 봄으로써 치근단 부위의 미세한 형태를 조명할 수 있게 되었으며 이는 술식의 성공 을 위해서 필수적인 요소가 되었다. 초음파 기구 또한 치근단 역충전을 위한 정확한 와동형성을 가능하게 해 주었다. 따라서 미 세 치근단 수술은 기존방식의 문제점이었던 많은 골삭제, 경사진 치근절제, 부정확한 역충전 와동 형성, 치근단 미세구조 관찰 의 어려움 등을 극복함으로써 술식이 더욱 정확해지고, 성공가능성이 더 높아졌다고 볼 수 있다. 미세 치근단 수술에 영향을 미치는 요소에는 다양한 요인들이 존재할 수 있으나 전통방식의 치근단 수술보다 술식이 표준화 됨으로써 술식에 의한 영향을 줄일 수 있다. 환자와 치아에 관계되는 요소 중에서는 치주질환의 이환 여부와 치아위치(tooth position)가 예후에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있으나 이에 대한 연구는 아직까지 그 수가 부족한 상태로 앞으로 검증수준 (evidence level)이 높은 Randomized clinical trial 혹은 전향적 코호트 연구가 많이 이루어져야 할 것이다 In current endodontic practice, introduction of operating microscope, ultrasonic instruments, and microinstruments has induced a big change in the field of surgical retreatment. In this study, we aimed to offer key steps of endodontic microsurgery procedure compared with traditional root-end surgery, and to evaluate factors influencing success and failure based on published articles. Endodontic microsurgery is a surgical procedure performed with the aid of a microscope, ultrasonic instruments and modern microsurgical instruments. The microscope provides magnification and illumination - essential for identifying minute details of the apical anatomy. Ultrasonic instruments facilitate the precise root-end preparation that is within the anatomical space of the canal. Modern endodontics can therefore be performed with precision and predictability, thus eliminating the disadvantages inherent in traditional periapical surgery such as large osteotomy, beveled apicoectomy, inaccurate root-end preparation and the inability to observe isthmus. Factors influencing the outcomes of endodontic microsurgery may be diverse, but standardization of procedures can minimize its range. Among patient and tooth-related factors, periodontal status and tooth position are known to be prognostic, but there are only few articles concerning this matter.         Infective Endocarditis due to Streptococcus Agalactiae in Young and Immunocompetent Woman: A Case of Structurally Normal Valve Endocarditis Presented with Major Stroke

        We describe here a 26-year-old woman who presented confusion and right hemiparesis due to embolic obstruction of left internal carotid artery and middle cerebral artery. Transthoracic echocardiography showed structurally normal mitral valve with hypermobile echogenic material suggesting vegetation. The vegetation was disappeared after antimicrobial treatment without surgery.
