Background and objectives : Soeumin Bojungykgi-tang (seBYTE) has been used to supplement qi in Korean medicine. It has been demonstrated to possess various biological functions such as anti-cancer, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects. The present study evaluated the protective roles of seBYTE in hepatotoxic in vitro and in vivo model. Methods : To investigate cytoprotective effect of seBYTE, HepG2 cells were pretreated with seBYTE and then subsequently exposed to 10 ㎛ AA for 12 h, followed by 5 ㎛ iron. Cell viability was examined by MTT assay, and expression of apoptosis-related proteins was evaluated by immunoblot analysis. For responsible molecular mechanisms, ROS production, GSH contents, and mitochondrial membrane potential were measured. In addition, hepatoprotective effect of seBYTE in vivo was assessed in CCl4-induced animal model. Results : seBYTE prevented AA + iron-induced cytotoxicity in concentration dependent manner. In addition, ROS production, GSH depletion, and mitochondrial dysfunction induced by AA + iron were significantly reduced by seBYTE pretreatment. Furthermore, seBYTE recovered expression of the pro-apoptotic proteins such as PARP and pro-caspase-3. In animal experiment, plasma ALT and AST levels were significantly elevated in CCl4 treatment, but seBYTE significantly decreased the ALT and AST levels. Moreover, seBYTE alleviated the numbers of histological activity index, percentages of degenerative regions, degenerated hepatocytes, infiltrated inflammatory cells, nitrotyrosine- and 4-hydroxynonenal-positive cells in liver. Conclusions : These results showed that hepatoprotective effect of seBYTE against on CCl4-induced hepatic damages is partly due to antioxidative and anti-apoptotic process.

Reconstruction of Blood Vessel Model with Adventitia from CT and IVUS Images for FSI Analysis

In achieving 3D model of blood vessel from computed tomography (CT), it is not easy to separate intima and adventitia since the portion of the blood vessel in a CT volume data is relatively too small and does not have sufficient resolution nor distinctive voxel intensity. In case of using vascular contrast agent, detection of the intima is feasible but detection of adventitia is still difficult. This paper proposes a 3D reconstruction process of blood vessel from CT images with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) images. The shape of intima is achieved from CT data and then converted to polygonal data with iso-surface extraction. A representative shape of the polygonal data is approximated into a B-spline curve. If adventitial shape from IVUS image is appropriately positioned on the curve at the location of the IVUS data acquisition, the cross section shape of adventitia on the location is defined. The 3D surface model of intima and adventitia is constructed from the series of cross section contours.

죽엽 열수추출물의 염증억제 효과

Objectives : Phyllostachys Folium is leaves of Phyllostachys nigra var. henesis $S_{TAPF}$. In the East Asian traditional medicine, the herb has been used to treat nasal bleeding, dysuria, epilepsy and etc. The present study was conducted to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of the Phyllostachys Folium water extracts (PFE) in vitro and in vivo model. Methods : Cell viability was measured by MTT assay after the treatment of PFE and NO production was monitored by measuring the nitrite content in culture medium. iNOS, COX-2, $I{\kappa}B$, $p-I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ amd $NF{\kappa}B$ were detected by immunoblot analysis, and levels of cytokine were analyzed by sandwich ELISA kit. Anti-edema effect of PFE was determined in the carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats. Results : LPS increased NO and cytokines levels compared with control, these increases were attenuated by PFE. In addition, LPS-induced pro-inflammatory proteins such as iNOS, COX-2 were down regulated by PFE. These anti-inflammatory effect of PFE results from inhibition of phosphorylation of $I{\kappa}B$ and translocation of $NF-{\kappa}B$. Conclusion : These results show that PFE has some anti-inflammatory effects which might play a role in gram-negative bacterial infection inflammation and $NF{\kappa}B$ activated diseases.

일본 대중문화 개방 이전, TV 애니메이션 속 ‘일본색’ 검열의 의미: <달의 요정 세일러문>을 중심으로

본고에서는 <달의 요정 세일러문>의 ‘일본색’검열의 의미를 파악하기 위해 일본 대중문화 개방 직전 한국에서의 문화 상품에 대한 담론과 일본 TV 애니메이션에 대한 방송심의 규정, 그리고 작품에서 검열로 인한 에피소드 삭제와 화면편집을 분석하였 다. 본고는 한국판 ‘세일러문’을 둘러싼 담론을 살펴보면서, 역사적으로 금지해왔던 일본의 대중문화가 문화 상품으로써 한국으로 ‘침투’하는 것에 대한 경계와 선진국의 문화적 영향력에 대한 선망이 뒤엉켜있음을 확인하였다. 또한 당시 방송심의 기준에는 포함되지 않았지만 ‘일본색’검열로 인한 에피소드 삭제와 화면 편집이 이루어진 실상을 파악함으로써, 이 작품을 포함하여 일본 애니메이션의 특징이라 할 수 있는 ‘무국적’인 세계관 속에서 일본을 지우려고 했던 시도를 논구하였다. 결국 한국판 ‘세일러문’의 ‘일본색’검열이 기대했던 ‘일본 지우기’는 실패하였는데, 이미 다양한 경로로 일본 대중문화 텍스트를 경험한 시청자들의 존재로 인해 그 실패는 필연적이었다.

1980년대 문고본 로맨스의 독자 상정과 출판 전략 연구—‘하이틴’ 기호를 중심으로

본고는 1980년대 문고본 로맨스 소설의 독자 상정과 출판 전략을 ‘하이틴’이라는 기호로 살펴보려 한다. 저널리즘에서 사용되었던 ‘하이틴’이라는 기호에 어떤 함의가 포함되어 있는지, 1980년대 문고본 로맨스 시리즈의 출판 현상을 통해 확인하는 것이 이 글의 목적이다. 문고본 로맨스 중에서도 캐나다 출판사 ‘할리퀸(Harlequin)’의 로맨스 시리즈의 해적판/정식판본과, 같은 독자를 상정하고 출간되었던 잡지 매체의 광고 홍보 문구를 토대로 연구를 진행하였다. 1970년대부터 대중매체는 10대 청소년을 하이틴으로 바라보고 이들을 중요한 소비주체로 호명한 바 있다. 하이틴이 교복을 입은 10대 청소년, 그중에서도 주로 여학생을 일컫는 용어였다면 1980년대 ‘하이틴’ 역시 새로운 소비주체로 상정되었고, 출판 시장에서는 이들을 포섭하기 위한 여러 출판 전략을 내세웠다. 『하이틴 로맨스』를 비롯한 문고본 로맨스는, ‘하이틴’이라는 독자들을 10대 후반 여학생, 베스트셀러/밀리언셀러에 민감한 소비주체, 사랑과 연애 이야기를 독서하는 취향을 가지며, 미·서구 문화에 호의적인 독자로 상정하였다. 1980년대 이후 문고본 로맨스 시장은 침체되었지만, 독자들은 ‘할리퀸’ 시리즈를 수용-로컬화하여 ‘로맨스’라는 장르소설의 명맥을 계속해서 유지해왔다. 웹소설이라는 새로운 매체가 부상함에 따라 로맨스 장르에 대한 관심이 폭증하는 현재, 이 연구가 (여성)독자와 로맨스 독서/향유에 대한 다양한 논의를 이끌어내는 시작점이 될 것이라 기대한다.

Due to the development of science and technology, (re)discovery of the fantasy of science fiction is recently being done, with the perception of the sense that the future in imaginary has already arrived in the present. In terms 유토피아적 상상력의 수용과 변용 321 of accepting overseas science fiction, which has a major position in the history of Korean science fiction genre, “Translated Future and Utopian Rewriting - Translation and History of acceptance in the 1920s Science Fiction” by Kim Mi-yeon can confirm its achievements and significance. This book focuses on “Utopia,” a sub-topic of science fiction to find out the process of translation and acceptance of the pre-existed works on its genre, and examines Utopian literature that flowed into colonial Joseon in the 1920s in the context of seeking ‘Reconstruction’ criticizing Western modern civilization and capitalist society. In particular, by exploring translations from China and Japan and also double translations works from colonial Joseon, East Asia’s acceptance of the human view of Western modern civilization, that it can reach an ideal society, in other words utopianism was confirmed. This article compared Utopian literature, which this book by Kim Mi-yeon is paying attention to, to the relationship with science fiction, and reviewed the context of acceptance about Utopianism in colonial Joseon in the 1920s, and disclosed the results and significance of this book.
