양측 상지 소력감으로 수핵성형술 받은 환자의 한방치료: 증례보고

This study was to investigate the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment on a patient who had nucleoplasty for both upper extremity weakness. The patient was treated with acupuncture, pharmacupuncture, cupping and moxa. We evaluated patient's progress using visual analog scale (VAS), neck disability index (NDI), EuroQol 5-dimension 5-level (EQ-5D-5L), active range of motion AROM) and Both grip strength. VAS and AROM are same after treatment. NDI decreased from 7 to 5. EQ-5D-5L increased from 0.596 to 0.763. Right grip strength decreased 27.6 kg to 25.8 kg and left grip strength increased 9.6 kg to 21.3 kg. As a result, clinical improvements were found in a patient. In conclusion, this study shows that Korean medicine treatment can be considered as effective treatment for both upper extremity weakness.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is analysis patients who get fractured vertebral at occupational injuries in a Korea Medical hospital. Methods : We analyzed the medical charts of 20 patients in a local Korean Medical hospital. The patients had been treated from January 1, 2016 to April 30, 2022. Results : By gender, males accounted for 70.0%, while females 30.0%. By age, over 60 accounted for 50%. Most causes of accident was fall down 50.0%. Patients visited secondary medical institution before treated in Korean Medical Hospital 100%. All of patients get acupuncture, electric acupuncture, moxa. By herbal medicine, Ojeog-san is the most Conclusions : In order to overcome the limitations of the scope of accurate examination and compensation for industrial accidents, research on various diseases of industrial accidents will be conducted in the future, and institutional improvement is needed.

N/A Objective: A large body of evidence suggests that cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is important in tumorigenesis of gastrointestinal and other cancers. This was the study to determine whether COX-2 was also expressed in benign and malignant ovarian tumors. Methods: We studied the expression of COX-2 in various ovarian tumors [ Benign epithelial tumors (n=10), borderline epithelial tumors (n=12), malignant epithelial tumor (n=12), nonepithelial tumors(n=10) ] by immunohistochemistry. Results of immunoreactivity was classified semiquantitatively based on the proportion and intensity of tumor cell immunostaining. Results: In the epithelial ovarian tumors, the intensity of immunostaining was stronger in the malignant tumors than the benign and borderline tumors (p<0.001). Especially all serous and mucinous malignant tumors (n=9) showed weak and strong immunoreactivity, with 66.7% strong reactivity. None of the nonepithelial ovarian tumors expressed COX-2 immunoreactivity. Conclusion: These preliminary data indicate that COX-2 may have a role in carcinogenesis of epithelial ovarian tums, especially in the serous and mucinous types. COX-2 maybe a target for future research in the tumorigenesis of the epithelial ovarian malignancies.

A non-communicating rudimentary uterine horn is a rare Mllerian duct anomaly. We experienced a case of unruptured rudimentary uterine horn pregnancy. The patient was diagnosed by laparoscopy and removed by laparoscopic resection of the pregnant rudimentary uterine horn was performed. We report our case with brief review of literatures.

Total mercury (TM) is a hazardous element that is of particular concern to human health. Due to the diversity of dietary habits among fishes, tissue-specific analysis of hazardous elements is necessary. In this study, the tissue-specific TM in cultured fish was analyzed to conduct risk assessment. The highest concentrations of TM were found in the farmed marine fish Pagrus major (0.111 mg/kg) and in the farmed freshwater fish Channa argus (0.162 mg/kg). TM concentration was significantly correlated with total fish length (P<0.01). Significant differences in TM were found between three types of fish tissue, with the concentration in fish muscle being significantly higher than those of gill or liver (P<0.01). Moreover, the tissue-specific TM concentrations of farmed freshwater fish were significantly higher than those of farmed marine fish (P<0.01). According to the risk assessment, the TM body exposure rate of muscle and liver in cultured fishes ranged from 0.001 to 0.389% of the Provisional Tolerable Weekly Intake. Therefore, these results showing the tissue-specific TM contents of cultured fish could be useful to assess the health risks of Koreandietary habits.

To investigate heavy metals (Hg, Pb and Cd) and their potential health risks in commercial dried layer (Porphyra sm), we collected 45 samples from the major production areas on the western and southern coasts of Korea (Hwaseong, Seo-cheon, Gunsan, Muan, Shinan, undo, I-laenam, Wando, Jangheung, Goheung and Busan). The Hg, Pb and Cd concentrations were measured using inductively coupled plasma spectrometry (ICP-MS) or a mercury analyzer, The average Hg, Pb and Cd concentrations in the dried layer were 0.006±0, 0.017, 0.196+0.0614 and 0.894+0.4882 mg/kg, respectively, Based on the 2007 Korean Public Nutrition Report, these levels are 0.02, 0.11 and 2.47% of the provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI) for Hg, Pb and Cd, respectively, established by the FAO/WHO. The hazard quotient (HQ) determined from the ratio of exposure and safe levels were less than 1.0. Therefore, the levels of overall exposure to Hg, Pb and Cd for dried layer were below the recommended JECFA (Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives) levels, which indicate safe levels for public health.
