        조생 복합내병성 최고품질 벼 ‘진광’

        ‘Jinkwang’, a japonica rice variety, was developed by a cross between ‘Hopum’ (IT23527) and the F1 hybrid of ‘Unkwang’ (IT217814) and ‘Koshihikari’ (IT157335) by the rice breeding team at NICS in 2016. ‘Unkwang’ shows an early maturity and high yield and ‘Koshihikari’ is a high-quality variety. The growth duration of ‘Jinkwang’ in the paddy field was 114 days in the middle plain region in Korea, which was six days later than that of ‘Jopyeong’. The culm length of ‘Jinkwang’ was 62 cm, which was 13 cm shorter than that of ‘Jopyeong’. The panicle of ‘Jinkwang’ was composed of 100 spikelets. The viviparous germination rate of ‘Jinkwang’ was 28.3%. ‘Jinkwang’ showed resistance to blast and bacterial blight (K1, K2, and K3 races); however, it was susceptible to stripe virus, dwarf and black-streaked dwarf viruses, and plant hoppers. The milled rice grains of ‘Jinkwang’ showed an excellent palatability index (0.42) and lower protein content (6.2%) than that of ‘Jopyeong’. The grain milling characteristics were better than those of ‘Jopyeong’, especially in terms of brown/rough rice ratio and milled/rough rice ratio (75.9%). ‘Jinkwang’ showed a milled rice productivity of 5.91 MT/ha at eight sites under ordinary cultivation conditions.         열대아시아 적응 다수성 자포니카 벼 ‘아세미1호’

        Asemi1' is a rice variety derived from a cross between ‘IR71667’, which has a Jinmibyeo background with a long basic vegetative phase, and ‘IR77863’, which has a Shinunbongbyeo background with a high yield and early maturity, by the rice breeding team at NICS, RDA, in 2014. The heading date of ‘Asemi1’ is July 29, 14 days earlier than that of the check variety ‘Hwaseong’. It has a culm length of 84 cm and 110 spikelets per panicle. ‘Asemi1’ is resistant to blast disease, but susceptible to other viruses and planthoppers. The milled rice of this variety exhibits translucent, clear non-glutinous endosperm and a short grain shape. The protein content (7.3%) was higher than that of ‘Hwaseong’, and the amylose content (19.6%) was similar to that of ‘Hwaseong’. The milled rice recovery rate of ‘Asemi1’ was similar to that of ‘Hwaseong’. However, the head rice rate of ‘Asemi1’ was lower than that of ‘Hwaseong’. The milled rice yield of ‘Asemi1’ was 5.92 MT/ha, which was higher than that of ‘Hwaseong’ in ordinary cultivation. ‘Asemi1’ was suitable for adaptation to a wide region of tropical Asia (Registration No. 6809).

      • 열대아시아지역 적응성 벼 신품종 ‘아세미1호’ 개발

        열대지역은 낮의 길이가 짧고(단일조건) 기온이 높아 온대벼를 재배하면 이앙 후 25일 경 이삭이 나오는 불시출수현상이 나타나 정상적인 생육을 기대할 수 없고, 수량은 약 1톤/ha 로 정상의 15% 정도 수준에 불과하다. ‘아세미1호’는 이러한 장벽을 타파하기 위해 육성한 품종으로 낮의 길이에 감응하지 않고 꽃이 피는 비감광성이고, 온대지역과 열대지역에서 잘 자라는 광지역적응성이다. ‘아세미1호’의 출수기는 중부평야지 보통기 재배에서 7월28일인 조생종으로 반직립성 초형이며, 이삭추출도 양호하고 탈립은 잘 된다. 저온발아성이 높고, 잎도열병에는 강하지만 다른 병해충에는 약하였다. 또한 쌀이 맑고 단백질함량은 7.4%로 다소 높으며, 도정특성은 ‘화성’보다 미흡하였다. 수량성은 중부평야지 4개소에서 582㎏/10a로 ‘화성’ 대비 108%, 중산간지에서 605㎏/10a로 ‘오대’ 대비 109%로 높았으며, 조기재배에서 549 ㎏/10a 로 ‘조평’대비 105%, 소득작물 후작에서도 521 ㎏/10a 로 ‘금오’대비 112%로 높았다. 필리핀 현지에서도 내도복, 다수성으로 평가되었다. 벼키는 89cm, 주당수수 13개, 현미천립중이 23g이었으며 도정률은 현지 품종 IR 72가 62%인데 ‘아세미1호’는 65%로 높았고 수확량도 5.2 t/ha으로 IR72보다 10%가까이 높았다. 특히, 열대아시아지역에서 우리 입맛에 맞는 쌀을 생산할 수 있는 기반을 마련하고, 기후온난화에 대응하여 고온 적응 품종 개발을 위한 중간모본으로 활용이 기대된다.

        중부지역 적응 중생 복합내병성 고품질 벼 ‘청품’

        ‘Cheongpum’, a japonica rice variety, was developed from a cross between Yeongdeog45 and ‘Samkwang’ by the rice breeding team at NICS in 2015. The heading date of ‘Cheongpum’ was August 10 in the middle plain area, which was two days later than that of ‘Hwaseong’. ‘Cheongpum’ had a culm length of 79 cm, which was 5 cm shorter than that of ‘Hwaseong’, and 116 spikelets per panicle. The viviparous germination rate of ‘Cheongpum’ was 27.9%. It showed resistance to blast, bacterial blight (K1, K2, K3 race), and stripe virus, but susceptibility to the K3a race of bacterial blight, dwarf, and black streak dwarf viruses, and plant hoppers. The milled rice of this variety exhibited a translucent and medium short grain shape. The cooked rice grains of ‘Cheongpum’ had an excellent palatability index (0.41) and lower amylose content (18.8%) than that of ‘Hwaseong’. The grain milling characteristics were better than those of ‘Hwaseong’, especially the head rice milling recovery ratio and head rice ratio (94.1%). ‘Cheongpum’ showed 5.36 MT/ha of milled rice productivity at 11 sites under ordinary cultivation (Registration No. 6799).

        다수성 총체 사료용 벼 품종 ‘목양’

        ‘목양’은 국립식량과학원 벼 육종연구진이 총체 사료용 벼 품종을 육성할 목적으로 2001년 하계에 SR24592-HB2319 를 모본으로 하고 신초형 IR73165-B-6-1-1을 부본으로 교배 하여 계통육종법으로 육성한 품종으로 2010년 12월 농작물 직무육성신품종선정위원회에서 국가목록등재품종으로 선정 됨과 동시에 ‘목양’으로 명명하였다. ‘목양’의 출수기는 보통 기 재배에서 8월 23일로 ‘녹양’보다 8일 정도 늦은 만생종이 다. ‘목양’은 도열병, 줄무늬잎마름병, 오갈병에는 ‘녹양’보다 강하지만, 흰잎마름병, 벼멸구에는 약한 편이다. ‘목양’은 ‘녹 양’보다 탈립에 강하고, 후기녹체성이 우수하였다. ‘목양’은 가소화양분총량(TDN) 함량이 높고 중성세제불용섬유소(NDF) 와 산성세제불용섬유소(ADF)가 낮았다. ‘목양’의 총체수량은 지역적응시험에서 2008년부터 2010년까지 평균 17.7 MT/ha 로 ‘녹양’보다 25% 증수하는 경향을 보였다. ‘목양’은 가소화 양분총량(TDN)은 59.5%였으며 ADF와 NDF가 낮아 상대적 사료가치가 ‘녹양’에 비해 높은 품종이다. ‘목양’의 정조 수량은 보통기 재배에서 5.59 MT/ha로 ‘녹 양’보다 16% 증수되었다. 재배적지는 중부 및 남부평야지 1 모작 지대이다. ‘Mogyang’, a new high biomass yield and whole crop silage rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar, is developed by the rice breeding team of National Institute of Crop Science, R.D.A., Suwon, Korea, during the period from was to 2010 and released in 2011. It was derived from a cross between SR24592-HB2319/IR73165-B-6-1-1. This cultivar has about 118 days of growth duration from seeding to heading and has long and erect leaves (culm length 93 cm). It has tough thick culm with strong lodging tolerance. This cultivar has a few less tillers per hill and markedly more spikelet numbers per panicle. ‘Mogyang’ has wide and stay green leaf compared other whole crop silage varieties. This new variety has grain shattering resistance and disease resistance for blast and dwarf virus. This variety has good qualities for whole crop silage with high TDN (Total Digestive Nutrient) yield and low NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) and low ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber) compared to common high grain yield varieties. The biomass and TDN yield performance of ‘Mogyang’ was 59.5% (chemical properties), 17.7 MT/ha (biomass yield), individually in local adaptability test for three years. ‘Mogyang’ is adaptable to central plain area, southern plain area of Korea.

        중만생 복합내병 다수성 발아현미용 거대배아미 ‘큰품’

        ‘Keunpum’ is a mid-late maturing, high yielding, giant embryo rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar which is adapted to central plainsand was developed to be used as (germinated) brown rice. It is resistant to multiple diseases with a good grain quality. This cultivar wasderived by crossing a giant embryo rice variety ‘Keunnun’ and a mid-late maturing, multi-disease resistant rice cultivar ‘Samkwang’-it hasgood palatability of cooked rice. The growth period of this cultivar is approximately 117 d from seeding to heading, with a culm lengthof 88 ㎝, panicle length of 20 ㎝, 13 panicles per hill, 136 spikelets per panicle, and 1,000-grain weight of 19.1 g brown rice. This varietyhas low tolerance to cold stress and premature germination similar to ‘Keunnun’ but exhibits high resistance to lodging. In addition, ‘Keunpum’is resistant to bacterial blight (race K1, K2, K3), rice stripe virus, and is moderately resistant to leaf and neck blast. Its average milled riceyield for three years reached 5.34 MT/ha, which is 10% higher than that of ‘Keunnun’. In the brown and germinated brown rice of thiscultivar, the total dietary fiber content are 6.45% and 6.71%, and the GABA (γ-amino butyric acid) content are 6.61 and 39.47 mg/100g, respectively. In addition, the total contents of polyphenol, flavonoid, and tannin were higher in ‘Keunpum’ brown rice than in ‘Keunnun’. The DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities were 75.23, 116.08 mg TE/100g, respectively. These functional components and antioxidantactivities play an important role in inhibiting diseases and the aging process of the human body. Therefore, it is expected to be used asa basic data in the manufacture of secondary processed products using germinated brown rice (Grant No. 7684).

        Alchanmi’, a japonica rice variety, was developed from a cross between ‘Junam’ and ‘Chilbo’ by a rice breeding team at the NationalInstitute of Crop Science and Icheon, Agricultural Technology Center in 2018. The heading date of ‘Alchanmi’ was August 10 in the middleplain area-two days later than that of ‘Hwaseong’. ‘Alchanmi’ had a culm length of 69 cm, 16 cm shorter than that of ‘Hwaseong’, and 103spikelets per panicle. The viviparous germination rate of ‘Alchanmi’ was 24.4%. It showed resistance to blast, bacterial blight (K1, K2, K3race), and stripe virus, but was susceptible to the K3a race of bacterial blight, dwarf and black streak dwarf viruses, and plant hoppers. Themilled rice of this variety exhibited a translucent and medium short grain shape. The cooked rice grains of ‘Alchanmi’ had an excellent palatabilityindex (0.7) and showed lower amylose content (18.6%) than that of ‘Hwaseong’. The grain milling characteristics of ‘Alchanmi’ were betterthan those of ‘Hwaseong’, especially the head rice milling recovery ratio and head rice ratio (96.2%). ‘Alchanmi’ showed 5.83 MT/ha of milledrice productivity at 6 sites under ordinary cultivation (Registration No. 8132).
