자동차 디자인에서의 파라메트릭 모델링 효용성에 관한 연구 -자동차 패턴 디자인 프로세스 개선을 중심으로-

디지털 환경에서의 디자인 프로세스는 지속적으로 발전을 거듭하고 있다. 3D 모델링 인터페이스와 3D프린터 기술은 사람의 손으로만 하던 디자인 작업을 더욱 효율적으로 만들었다. 이것에서 나아가 수학적 알고리즘을 이용한 파라메트릭 디자인의 등장은 새로운 차원의 조형 방법론을 보여준다. 파라메트릭 디자인 프로세스의 결과물들은 비정형적이고 매우 복잡한 조형 이미지를 보여준다. 이 경향은 점점 다른 분야에 영향을 주었으며 자동차 패턴 디자인의 분야에서도 이러한 조형들이 보이기 시작했다. 본 연구에서는 파라메트릭 디자인의 사례를 살펴보고 그 것이 가지는 속성을 명확화 하였다. 또 한편으로 자동차에서의 패턴디자인의 중요성과 기존 프로세스의 문제점을 분석하였다. 그 결과 파라메트릭 디자인 프로세스가 자동차패턴 디자인에서 조형의 다양성, 시간적 효율성, 의사결정의 용이 그리고 논리적 조형 전개의 효용성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 이에 따라 개선된 자동차 패턴 디자인 프로세스를 제안함으로써 향 후 자동차 디자인의 방법론 새로운 방향을 찾고자 하였다. Design process is evolving continually in the digital environment. 3D modeling interface and 3D printer technology make it efficient to design works then before it has been controled by human hands. Further more appearance of the parametric design using a mathematical algorithm makes a new level of modeling methodology. The results of the parametric design process shows atypical and very complex modeling images. This is influencing to other design field. This kind of modeling images have began to be founded in the automotive pattern design too. In this study, The attribution of the parametric design is found out via cases. In the meantime, it is analyzed that automotive pattern design process has many problems. As the result, it is proved that parametric design process can make variety of modeling result, time efficiency, simplicity of decision-making and logical modeling development. Lastly this research propose improved pattern design process in the automotive design and could find new methodology direction of the automotive design.
