In this study, finite element analysis by means of commercial software was performed to evaluate the structural integrity and operability on horizontal centrifugal pump since it is necessary for the horizontal centrifugal pump on nuclear power plants to be verified among FEM analysis, experimental method, combination of analysis and test. The normal mode analysis is carried out to determine dynamic behavior whether rigid or flexible equipment by comparing fundamental frequency with 33hz. the dynamic characteristic such as model shapes and natural frequency is reviewed in terms of possibility of structural resonance. The static stress analysis was carried out during normal, abnormal load conditions such as a seismic event. The stress results are herein demonstrated and evaluated according to material allowable stress which is complying with ASME code.

The present study covers a direct patterning process on a plastic film using ultrasonic vibration energy. A tool horn containing micro-patterns is attached to an ultrasonic power supply, and is used to press a plastic film with ultrasonic vibration in order to replicate micro-patterns on the surface of the plastic film. To improve the replication characteristics of the micro-patterns, the effect of the die shape of the ultrasonic patterning process is investigated. Finite element analyses are performed to predict the flow characteristics of the polymer according to the die design parameters. Experiments are then followed using the optimally-designed die, from which we can obtain much improved results in terms of the pattern replication.

This study introduces the seismic qualification of safety related equipments for nuclear power plants to verify the possibility of resonance and the structural integrity due to external piping nozzle loads as well as seismic dynamic loads using El-Centro earthquake, which was occurred in the 1940's previously. As a first step, it is necessary to investigate the natural frequency of the mixed flow pump in order to determine whether static or dynamic equipment comparing with seismic cut-off frequency, 33hz. Also the normal mode analysis was carried out with the introduction of seismic restraint at the middle of vertical pump to increase natural frequency. In terms of design structural integrity, the application of static analysis with normal, upset and faulted nozzle loads event was presented for the comparison of material allowable stress. Also the dynamic analysis was performed to show the investigation of design adequacy when the effects of application on east-west, north-south, vertical El-Centro earthquake.
