This study was conducted to develop allometric equations and to determine the stem density and biomass expansion factor (BEF) for the estimation of the aboveground and belowground biomass of Cryptomeria japonica in Jeju Island, Korea. A total of 18 trees were harvested from the 40-year-old C. japonica stands in Hannam experimental forest, Jeju Island. The mean biomass of the C. japonica was 50.4 Mg ha-1 in stem wood, 23.1 Mg ha-1 in root, 9.6 Mg ha-1 in branch, 4.6 Mg ha-1 in needle and 4.3 Mg ha-1 in stem bark. The diameter at breast height (DBH) was selected as independent variable for the development of allometric equations. To evaluate the performance of these equations, coefficient of determination (R2) and root mean square error (RMSE) were used and results of the evaluation showed that R2 ranged from 71% (root biomassequation) to 96% (aboveground biomass equation) and the RMSE ranged from 0.10 (aboveground biomass equation) to 0.33 (root biomass equation). The mean stem density of C. japonica was 0.37 g cm-3 and the mean aboveground BEF was 1.28 g g-1. Furthermore, the ratio of the root biomass to aboveground biomass was 0.32.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of new graduate nurses in personal life and in clinical setting during their first year. Methods: Eleven new graduate nurses were interviewed and the data were analyzed using the Giorgi's phenomenological method. Results: The main results of this research were negative experiences such as poor nursing skills, inability to enjoy personal life, physical exhaustion and health problems, and uncertainty of nursing values. On the other hand, there were some positive aspects on their minds: adjustmental/developmental needs, sense of responsibility, receptive capability, and proficiency with their work. They gradually found themselves being endured and changing to adapt. Conclusion: Transition from students to staff nurses is a very stressful experience for new graduate nurses. It may negatively affect their personal lives as well. However they tried to keep themselves positive to overcome their difficulties. It is necessary for them to be given time, a systematic program, and a supportive environment to adapt.

This study was to compare health-promoting behavior of man and women college students and to determine factors affecting health behavior. The subjects were 172 students of university in Chungcheong area. The instrument used for this study were health-promoting lifestyle profile II(49 items), Health perception(11 items), Stress(34 items) scale. The results of this study are as follows. 1) The average item score for the health behavior was low at 104.62. In the subcategories, the highest degree of performance was interpersonal support, and the lowest degree was health responsibility. The health behavior between man and woman students was a statiscally significant difference in nutrition, interpersonal support, stress management. 2) The average item score for the stree level between male and female students was moderate level. The stress level between man and women students was a significant difference in school life peoblem, environmental problem, interpersonal relationship problem. Male students showed a significant higher score in three factors than female students. 3) The average item score for health perception level between male and female students was higher, but was not a significant difference between male and female students. 4) Health behavior revealed lower correlation with stress(r=-.172,p<.05), and showed higher correlation with health perception(r=.414,P<.001).

The objective of this study was to determine the stem density, biomass expansion and carbon stocks of Cryptomeria japonica species in the three stand age classes in southern part of South Korea. A total of 15 sample trees were harvested for data analysis. The results showed that the dry weight (kg/tree) of Cryptomeria japonica were 2.93 in stand 1, 168.72 in stand 2 and 402.27 in stand 3. The total aboveground biomass (ton/ha) for stand 1, 2 and 3 were 6.35, 184.74 and 251.35 while belowground biomass (ton/ha) in the three stands were 7.62, 227.77 and 308.14, respectively. It was also observed that as the stand age class increases, stem density values tended to slightly decrease and density observed ranged from 0.38 (g/cm3) to 0.34 (g/cm3). In addition, the above ground biomass expansion factors ranged from 3.65 to 1.28 and total biomass expansion factors ranged from 4.07 to 1.45 for the three stand age classes. This results showed that the above ground biomass expansion factor and total biomass expansion factor tend to decrease as the stand age increase. The influence of stand age on biomass expansion factor showed that it was statistically significant, while it was not significant on stem density 초록본 연구는 우리나라 남부지방의 대표적 조림 수종인 삼나무(Cryptomeria japonica) 임분을 대상으로 총 15본의 표본목 자료를 이용하여 영급별 줄기밀도 및 바이오매스 확장계수와 바이오매스 추정식을 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과, 영급별(20년 단위) Stand 1, 2, 3의 임목 전체 건중량은 2.93, 168.72, 402.27 kg/tree로 나타났고, 지상부 건중량은 6.35, 184.74, 251.35 ton/ha 등으로 나타났으며, 지하부를 포함한 임목 전체 건중량은 7.62, 227.77, 308.14 ton/ha로 나타났다. 줄기밀도는 5% 유의수준에서 영급 단위에 따라 0.38, 0.34, 0.34 g/cm3로 영급이 증가함에 따라 감소하였으며, 바이오매스 확장계수는 각각 3.65∼1.28, 4.07∼1.45로 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 줄기밀도는 통계적 유의성이 나타나지 않은 반면에, 바이오매스 확장계수는 통계적인 유의성이 나타났다.
