성인 한국어 학습자의 한국어 학습 의의에 관한 일고찰 - PAC분석에 의한 사례 연구를 통하여 -

In this study, I consider the significance of learned knowledge of the Korean language for adult learners of Korean as a foreign language in Japan. For the study, I conducted interviews with adult learners of Korean and attempted to assess the attitudes of these learners through a qualitative research method known as PAC analysis. As a result of analyzing the content of these interviews, I determined that the subjects had a very positive attitude toward learning Korean; their aspirations resulting from studying Korean included a desire to learn not just about the Korean language but also details of the history of South Korea, its contemporary society, and the South Korean mindset. In other words, the fact that learning Korean served as a point of departure for attempting to pursue a wider range of matters related to Korea could be described as a key characteristic. Adult learners of Korean, unlike university students and other learners in their teens and early twenties, have diverse backgrounds in terms of social experience, and are therefore different in many ways from university students who are learning Korean. In other words, the significance of learning Korean for adult learners of Korean can be said to be the fact that it is a starting point for broader learning and will lead from language learning to other forms of learning, such as learning about the history of South Korea. In this study, I have shown that consideration of the significance of learning Korean for adult learners of Korean, as above, will be useful as basic material for the formulation of a Korean-language study curriculum for adult learners of the Korean language. 본 연구는 일본 성인 한국어 학습자가 가지는 한국어 학습에 대한 의의를 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 성인 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하여 질적 연구 방법인 PAC 분석을 통하여 학습자 내면성에 접근해 보았다. 이번에 실시한 인터뷰 내용을 분석한 결과 대상자는 한국어 학습에 매우 긍정적인 태도로 임하는 가운데 한국어 학습을 계기로 하여 한국어만이 아니라 한국의 역사나 현대 사회에 대한 내용, 한국인의 사고방식 등을 알고 싶어하는 경향이 보였다. 즉, 한국어 학습을 출발점으로 하여 한국과 관련된 폭 넓은 내용을 추구하려고 하는 것이 특징이라고 할 수 있다. 성인 한국어 학습자는 대학생 한국어 학습자와 달리 사회적 경험을 비롯한 다양한 배경을 가지고 있는 등 많은 차이점이 있다고 할 수 있다. 즉, 성인 한국어 학습자가 가지는 한국어 학습의 의의라는 것은 한국어 학습이 출발점이나 계기이며 한국의 역사를 비롯한 언어학습에서 다른 학습에 이어지는 것에 있다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 성인 한국어 학습자가 가지는 한국어 학습의 의의를 고찰함으로서 성인 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 한 한국어 교육과정 수립을 위한 기초 자료가 될 것이다.
