This study was carried out to develop a new sweet sorghum for biomass by using mutagen, gamma-ray. Seeds treated were gained from National Genetic Resource Center, RDA, and these seeds were irradiated with gamma-ray (400Gy) at KAERI. CNUS-M113 and CNUS-M134 among 169 collected accessions were evaluated a promising line for biomass due to increasing of fresh and dry weight. In addition, this line was high in stem height, number of tiller and fresh weight per plant than check, Hwang-gum chal sorghum. Accodingly, this line demanded for leading variety the production test and cultivation adaptability in future years.

This study was carried out to find a botanical and antioxidant characteristics in CNU rice lines developed in the crop Genetics & Breeding Lab. At (CNU) the CNU lines including CNU-Hinhchal, were planted one plant per hill by hand by 30 ㎝×15 ㎝ density at CNU paddy rice farm on May 11, 2011. Clum length of Shinsunchalbyeo as check among used line was longest than others, while that of CNU-114 was shortest among lines. For the number of tillers per plant, CNU-Hinhchal was higher as 20 than other lines but CNU-112 and Shinsunchalbyeo were lowest as 12. The number of spikelets per plant was highest in CNU-Hinhchal as 1,800 but that of Milyang 225 was lowest among the used lines.
XVIII. 찰옥수수연구 - 시설하우스에서 2기작 찰옥수수 교잡종의 주요 생육특성 비교

The major characteristics of the developed corn hybrids were compared at each different planting time; 1st time(April 28) and 2nd time(August 20), respectively. Among traits surveyed, stem height showed highly at 1st time than 2nd, while ear height, stem diameter and ear length were similar at two times. Sugar content of the used hybrids showed highly at 2nd planting time than 1st. Pericarp thickness was also high at 2nd planting time. Especially, among hybrids CNU99 was the highest in stem height and ear length, CNU11 and CNU56 were high in sugar content, and CNU51 and CNU124 were thiner than other hybrids in pericarp thickness. Accordingly, these hybrids will be planted and recognized in 2nd yield trial for superior corn hybrid selection.
찰옥수수 연구 - VIII. 찰옥수수 대학찰 골드 1호에 대한 파종시기별 주요 작물학적 및 이삭 특성

본 실험은 신품종 대학찰 골드 1호에 대한 파종 시기별 생육 및 이삭 특성에 대한 연구 결과 주요 특성은 다음과 같다. 1. 공시종에 대한 간장은 모든 파종 시기에서 대학찰 골드1호가 찰옥 1호보다 컷으나 찰옥 1호의 개체간에는 생육 차이가 큰 변이를 보였다. 2. 공시종의 평균 개화기는 대조구인 찰옥 1호가 7일 정도 빨랐으나 개체간 차이가 큰 반면에 대학찰 골드 1호의 개화기는 균일하였다. 두 품종 모두 파종시기가 늦어질수록 개화 소요일수가 빨라지는 경향이었다. 3. 공시종에 대한 간장과 착수고의 비율은 파종시기가 빠를수록 두 품종 모두 낮게 나타나 도복 경감 효과가 클 것으로 나타났다. 4. 공시종에 대한 이삭길이 및 착립 상태를 비교한 결과 대학찰 골드 1호를 4월 말에서 5월 초에 파종한 것이 다른 시기에 파종한 것보다 생육 및 이삭 특성이 우수하였다. This study was carried out to gain the informations about seedling transplanting cultivation of Daehakchal Gold 1 which was developed at the Corn Breed. and Genetics Lab., Coll. of Life and Sci., Chungnam Nat'l Univ. in 2009. This hybrid and Check were sowed over four times at intervals of 10 days from 15th April(1st) to 30th May(last) and transplanted at CNU Corn Breed. Farm the 20th seedling cultivated after sowing, respectively. Results obtained from this experiment were as follows; stem height of this hybrid were variable regardless of sowing and transplanting times, while ear height was gradually increased according to delay of sowing times. Ear size and sharp of fresh corn as one of important traits was good at 2nd harvest times, while tip filling of ear harvested at 1st time was not good and also it's size decreased according to delay of transplanting stage. Stability of this hybrid expressed as ratio of stem height to ear height was very good as 50% below. Accordingly, the proper sowing and transplanting times of Daehackchal Gold 1 considered the late in April to early in May as harvesting proper period.
감마선(⁶⁰Co) 처리 효과에 의한 억새의 변이체 유기 및 유망 계통 육성

In order to develop the new Miscanthus varieties for biomass, characteristics of collected materials were surveyed. Also, they were treated with S-azide(Sodium-azide) and DES(dethyl sulfate) for promising lines and 0.2% Colchicine for polyploidy, respectively. CNU-J1 line induced with chemical, DES and S-azide treatment showed shorter than others in stem height and stem diameter. CNU-N1 line treated with 10 mM DES showed earlier than non-treated lines in flowering as 7days. Among selected lines, the CNU-J1 line was crossed with DB-1 selected as a superior line and their hybrid was expected to be high in biomass than others. Especially, CNU-W1 line treated with 2.5~5.0 mM DES showed heading in M1 generation.
찰성벼 CNU계통에 대한 질소 수준별 주요 수량 관련 형질

CNU육성 찰벼 계통에 대해 질소 시비 수준을 달리하여 주요 작물학적 및 수량관련 형질을 살펴본 결과 다음과 같다. 공시된 벼품종의 간장은 유색찰벼인 경우 10a당 질소 7㎏ 수준이 9㎏보다 다소 크게 나타났고, 무색찰벼는 Aranghyangchal, Dongjinchal이 큰 반면에 기타 공시종은 9㎏수준에서 크게 나타났다. 주당 분얼수는 유색미인 경우 10a당 질소 9㎏ 처리가 7㎏보다 CNU 08-01, CNU 08-02에서 높게 나타났고, 대조품종은 두 처리 모두 같은 경향을 보였으며, 무색미는 9㎏처리에서 Dongjinchal이 높게 나타났다. 질소 수준별 등숙율은 유색미인 경우는 대체적으로 질소 7㎏ 수준에서 높게 나타난 반면, 무색미는 Dongjinchal, CNU 08-105계통을 제외한 CNU 08-101, Nunborachal, Aranghyangchal이 9㎏ 수준에서 다소 높게 나타났다. 천립중은 공시종 모두 질소 9㎏수준이 7㎏보다 대체적으로 높게 나타났고, 20주당 조곡 수량은 CNU계통의 경우 모두 7㎏보다 9㎏에서 수량 증가를 보였으나 대조 품종인 경우에는 Aranghyangchal을 제외하고는 대부분이 7㎏수준에서 높은 경향을 보였다. Objectives of this study was to find the effect on two different nitrogen levels about agricultural characteristics of CNU rice lines developed at Crop Genetics and Breeding Laboratory, Chungnam Nat'l Univ.. Materials used were two black and one white glutinous rice lines, which were transplanted by hand with 30 × 15 ㎝ at CNU paddy field on May 23, 2009. These lines was designed with two replication by two nitrogen levels as 7㎏ and 9㎏ per 10a. As the result; Culm length of all lines used were higher at 7㎏ than 9㎏ per 10a while panicle length was longer at 9㎏ nitrogen level. Tillers per plant of CNU 08-01 and CNU 08-02 lines except CNU 08-101 showed highly at 9㎏ level, but that of other leading varieties were not constant trends in spite of increasing nitrogen. Ripening ratio of CNU 08-01 and 08-02 lines were higher at 7㎏ but CNU 08-101 line was higher at 9㎏. 1,000 grain weight and unhulled rice yield per 20 plants in all CNU lines were highly appeared at 9㎏ levels per 10a.

Protein content of waxy corn hybrids ranged from 9.3 to 17.1%, and amylopectin content ranged from 83.9 to 94.5%. Three waxy corn hybrids including CNU043 showed less than 10 percent in protein content, and seven waxy corn hybrids including CNU052 were higher than 94% at the amylopectin content. At the amylogram test the ranges of the pasting temperature, peak viscosity, hot viscosity, cool viscosity, breakdown, setback, and consistency were 71.6~77.5℃, 58~210 RVU, 36.1~114.2 RVU, 47~145 RVU, 21.4~97.8 RVU, -66.4~-9.6 RVU, and 11.1~36.3 RVU, respectively.
찰옥수수 연구 - XV. 국내 유전자원을 이용한 찰옥수수 교잡종의 주요 작물학적 특성

This study was carried out to identify the characteristics of 37 corn hybrids, which composed with 18 yellow colored kernel, 9 purple colored kernel, 8 white colored kernel. Days to silking of three colored waxy corn hybrids ranged from 61 to 73 days after sowing as midium-late ecotype. Ear length of hybrids ranged from 10.3 to 22.7 cm, and among them a total 22 waxy corn hybrids including CNU038 showed over 20 cm in ear length. The fresh weight per ear ranged from 58 to 289 g as the 32.9% of large coefficient of variance. In there results, we found yellow colored waxy corn hybrids showed relatively longer in ear length and heavier in fresh weight per ear compare to other colored waxy corn hybrids. In correlation relationships, plant height, ear height, stem diameter, ear length and ear weight showed positive correlation between themselves, while tip filling ratio did negative correlation with silking stage, plant height, ear length, ear weight and kernel thickness. Also, 100 kernel weight did positive correlation between traits related to ear and kernel.

Daeduckchal 1 waxy corn hybrid including check was planted and compared with domestic leading vatiety on agronomic characteristics, traits related to table gualities and crude income. Stem and ear height of Daeduckchal 1 among used hybrids were intermediate and stem diameter was also similar to other hybrids. Days to tasseling of this hybrid needed 56 days which was slightly shorter than check hybrid, Yeonnong. Ear length of CNU-H2 was longer than Yeonnongchal as 21.7 ㎝, while Chalok 2 was 14.1 ㎝. Number of tillers per plant of this hybrid were higher than Chalok 2 but lower than Yeonnong. Pericarp thickness of CNU-H2 and CNU-H3 were similar to Yeonnon. In sugar content, Daeduckchal 1 was intermediate level as 11.7 brix(%). Marketability of Daeduckchal 1 was the highest among used hybrids and crude incomes was also high.
