This study is about steering characteristics simulation of a SUV(sports utility vehicle) with semiactive suspension systems utilizing MR(magneto-rheological) dampers. ADAMS/Car program was used to simulate the basic steering characteristics, using 63 d.o.f. vehicle model. Sky-Hook and ground hook control algorithms were used as a suspension system controller. The steering characteristics simulation results of the semi-active & passive suspension system was compared.

This study is about a full-car vibration simulation with semi-active suspension systems using MR(magneto-rheological) dampers. The dynamic characteristics of the MR damper was modeled as a 1St order system with a look-up table based on test data of the damper specimen. Then, a multi-body full-car model containing the MR damper model was simulated to show the superiority of the vibration characteristics of the semi-active suspension system.

This paper introduces an artificial neuron which is a nano composite continuous sensor. The continuous nano sensor is fabricated as a thin and narrow polymer film sensor that is made of carbon nanotubes composites with a PMMA or a silicone matrix. The sensor can be embedded onto a structure like a neuron in a human body and it can detect deteriorations of the structure. The electrochemical impedance and dynamic strain response of the neuron change due to deterioration of the structure where the sensor is located. A network of the long nano sensor can form a structural neural system to provide large area coverage and an assurance of the operational health of a structure without the need for actuators and complex wave propagation analyses that are used with other methods. The artificial neuron is expected to effectively detect damage in large complex structures including composite helicopter blades and composite aircraft and vehicles.

This study deals with a MR fluid flow analysis coupled with a magnetic field analysis for the MR valve design. A coupled numerical analysis, which can simulatneously consider the fluid behavior and the magnetic behavior of the MR valve was performed by COMSOL Multiphysics software. The analysis was used to estabilsh the relationship between the pressure and fluid flow through the annular orifice in the MR valve subjected to the magnetic field changes.

This paper presents a physical model of a MR(magnetorheological) damper to predict its dynamic damping force. To predict dynamic damping force of a MR damper, it is necessary to describe the differential equation of pressure for chambers due to MR fluids compressibility. A empirical data is used to determine the valve characteristics of an annular orifice undergoing MR effect. This model can be effectively applied to the MR damper design.

Commercial vehicles arc mostly subjected to relatively rougher ground environment than passenger vehicles. Many driver's seats of commercial vehicles have suspension system with air spring and dampers. This Study is about optimization for connecting points of MR damper and Air spring. MR Damper Optimization Algorithm is used to SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming) in ADAMS.

Vehicle suspension systems affect the vehicle performance such as ride quality, the handling characteristics, the straight performance and the steering effort etc. In this paper, MPV vehicle with torsionbeam suspension systems is modeled by using ADAMS which is a commercial multi-body dynamics software. A method to find out the optimal hard point to minimize the reaction forces acting on the damper is presented by using multi-body dynamic simulation. A bump simulation is employed to optimize the design variables: Sequential Quadratic Programming is employed in the optimization process.
