        뇌친화적 교수학습 방안:영자신문을 활용한 EFL 영어 수업

        Human brain activities are closely related to both cognitive side and affective domain. Two juxtaposing partners engender human learning processes and learning a foreign language is not an exception. Brain related technologies are developing dramatically in modern times and the use of relevant knowledge can contribute to the successful design of EFL classes in Korea. This study aimed at investigating the effects of English newspapers for improving middle school students' reading ability in the cognitive and affective domains. To achieve this goal, two experimental and control groups were assigned for each gender group and textbook reading material was used for control groups. The effect of reading ability improvement was calculated and also five affective domains(interest, motivation, participation, self-confidence, and self-directed attitude) were examined under the consideration of neuro- educational perspectives.

        A Comparative Analysis of the English Textbook Wordlists with Reference to the Corpus Approach

        A survey on the English textbooks currently used in the Yeongnam area has been conducted to find out what text corpus the students are exposed to from third to tenth grade. As a result, 15 middle school textbooks out of 43 kinds and 7 tenth grade textbooks out of 15 kinds were selected along with 4 elementary textbooks to compose a textbook corpus. The recommended wordlists for elementary and secondary students by the Ministry of Education & Human Resource Development were analyzed against the textbook corpus. There were too many new words for elementary students, but the spiral structure of difficulty level was arranged properly according to the grade system. The 2,067 words recommended for the secondary students were well treated in the selected textbooks and 95.6% of the words on the list were found. The BNC wordlists were used to compare frequency information with textbook wordlists and several suggestions were made for better and effective wordlists for Korean students.

        Alphabetic Principle and Phonological Awareness for Korean Adult EFL Learners as Beginners

        This paper deals with the use of alphabetic principle and phonological awareness for Korean adult EFL learners at the beginning level. Alphabetic principle, phonological awareness, and oral reading skills are generally applied to the early language learners and some of the Korean adult learners who remain in the beginning level for an elongated period of time still lack those basic language skills. To verify the use of the knowledge in alphabetic principle, phonological awareness, and oral reading, 72 freshmen students were assigned in experimental and control groups. A phonological awareness test was performed to identify the beginning conditions of the participants and pre/post tests were implemented to find out the meaning of the progress made by the treatment. The knowledge on the alphabetic principle and phonological awareness functioned in the process of oral reading and the research treatment to the experimental group showed strong statistic significance superior to the control group. The absence of rudimentary language skills might interfere with appropriate and timely linguistic growth of the learners. For the EFL learners who have difficulty in accomplishing well-timed progression to higher levels beyond the beginning level, it might be effective for classroom teachers to consider replenishing the elementary linguistic skills to strengthen the basics of language learning.

        체계적 문헌고찰을 통한 한국적 영어학습 동기구인의 다학제간 연구

        Motivation is one of the key factors that lead to successful learning outcomes. To delve into the essence of Korean EFL students’ motivation, this study aims at identifying the constructs of English learning from a multi-disciplinary perspective using systematic reviews of the latest and relevant literatures. The reviews cover 6 fields including English learning, education, psychology, social science, arts and sports, and cultural relativism. Motivation is affected not only by mental strength but also by the task itself in terms of difficulties faced by the participants. Common theoretical background includes self-determination, self efficacy, and intrinsic-extrinsic motivation. Amotivation appeared mainly in the field of education. Manipulation of motivation needs careful treatment with moderate pace adjustment and emotion, and culture can influence the degree of learners’ motivation. .

        동절기 콘크리트벽체의 단열거푸집시스템 적용시 온도이력과 압축강도변화 특성에 관한 실험적 연구

        This is an experimental study on characteristics of temperature record and concrete strength according to the use of large panel form with application of insulation form system to cold climate wall concrete work. For the study, it installed a refrigerated container for test in which internal temperature could be controlled for similar temperature environment with outside. 3 test pieces were assembled in the lab. One test piece was a general form and the other were insulated forms combined with molding extrusion polystyrene with vinyl and adhesive spray bond. General form test piece and one insulated test piece were heated by flood light inside the form, and the other piece did not install flood light. The temperature of the lab is between 0¡É ~ -15¡Éwith daily fluctuation. It analyzed the expression characteristics of curing strength of concrete by age and temperature distribution per part. As a result, test piece II and III had an effect of preventing early aged freezing damage prevention compared with test piece I of tent curing and heat curing. It means the insulation form promotes blocks the influx of low outdoor temperature and utilizes heat of hydration for concrete curing temperature maintenance that promotes concrete strength expression.

        설계 및 엔지니어링분야의 품질경영시스템 심사결과에 대한 유형분석

        설계 및 엔지니어링 용역사업 분야에 도입되어 운영되고 있는 품질경영시스템은 설계 및 엔지니어링 용역사업의 국제화와 선진화된 조직경영활동의 실현을 통한 해당분야 사업활동의 역량을 강화하기 위함이다. 그러나 기업 경영자들의 품질경영시스템에 대한 올바른 이해와 인식의 부족으로 품질경영체제의 안정적인 운영과 정착에 많은 문제점이 발생되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 설계 및 엔지니어링용역사업 분야의 품질경영체제의 도입과 운영과정에서 지적되고 있는 부적합의 유형을 분석하였다. 특히 1997년부터 2003년 말까지 연속하여 인증기관에 의해 심사가 이루어진 설계 및 엔지니어링용역 사업 분야의 15개의 각 개별 기업에서 발행된 총 646건의 지적보고서를 대상으로 부적합의 유형을 조사한 결과, 품질경영 시스템 규격모델의 요건상 제품실현부문 중 $\ulcorner$설계 및 개발$\lrcorner$부문과 $\ulcorner$생산 및 서비스제공$\lrcorner$부문, 그리고 품질경영시스템부문 중 $\ulcorner$일반요구사항$\lrcorner$부문 등 세 분야에서 가장 많은 지적사항이 발생되었다. 그 다음으로는 측정, 분석 및 개선관리부문 중 $\ulcorner$모니터 콩 및 측정$\lrcorner$부문과 제품실현부문 중 $\ulcorner$구매관리$\lrcorner$부문의 순으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 현상은 설계 및 엔지니어링용역 업무가 품질경영시스템 규격모델에 해당되는 요건상의 주요 활동이 되는 업무의 특성에 기인하며, $\ulcorner$일반요구사항$\lrcorner$과 $\ulcorner$모니터 링 및 측정$\lrcorner$부문의 지적사항도 중요한 경영관리요소가 되므로, 품질경영체제의 정착과 활성화를 위해서는 설계 및 엔지니어링 용역분야의 주요업무활동 중 이 러한 지적사항에 대하여 보다 세부적 인 업무프로세스의 제문제점들이 개선되어야 한다. ISO 9001, the quality management system issued by the International Organization for Standardization, is being used by architectural design and engineering firms in order to strengthen the capability of business activities through the implementation of the international and advanced quality management systems. However, there have been significant problems in stable implementation and settlement of ISO 9001 in construction industry, which seem to be caused by key employees' lack of proper recognition and comprehension. The purpose of this research, accordingly, is to find and analyze nonconformity results which were found when the third party registrars audited the conformity of companies' quality management systems for ISO 9001 certification especially in architectural design and engineering firms. For this purpose this research was conducted by a cluster analysis of 647 audit reports out of representative 15 architectural design and engineering firms that have been audited periodically from 1997 to 2003 by the third party registrars. The analysis showed that the most frequent problems were generated in the areas of $\ulcorner$Design and Development$\lrcorner$ , $\ulcorner$production and Service Provision$\lrcorner$ , and $\ulcorner$General requirements$\lrcorner$ of the quality management system. The following, the areas of $\ulcorner$Monitoring and Measurement$\lrcorner$ and $\ulcorner$purchasing$\lrcorner$ were also analyzed as main factors which caused frequent nonconformity results. This research also shows that the corrective actions for nonconformity results are closely connected with the whole management activities in architectural design and engineering firms. Consequently, corrective actions for disposition of nonconformities should be implemented more specifically in order to settle and activate the quality management systems in architectural design and engineering firms.

        다중지능과 학업성취도의 상관관계 연구: 대학생 영어학습자를 중심으로

        The current study explores possible correlation between learners' multiple intelligences and academic accomplishment for the university students who struggle for obtaining higher level of English skills. According to Gardner (1983), people need to recognize that there are many different facets of human cognition. Teachers who take multiple intelligences into account expand their repertory of teaching tools, techniques, and strategies beyond the typical linguistic and logical ones predominant in the ordinary classrooms. Multiple intelligences might supplement students' strengths and expand their possibilities. The researcher of this study tried to find out the answers to the following questions: what is the general profile of the Korean adult English learners'multiple intelligences?; what kind of correlational relationship might be identified between learners' multiple intelligences and academic accomplishment? Meaningful correlation was found in the increased accomplishment in terms of linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligences. Musical intelligence was not as closely related with linguistic intelligences as Gardner suggested. As a pedagogical implication, multiple intelligences theory might enable teachers to develop diverse student-centered teaching methods and enhance positive teacher-student classroom interactions.
