This study was carried out to select optimal sites of waste water treatment plant in a small watershed area as Boryeong-Hongseong located at south Chungcheong province. For the extraction of watershed from the study area, ArcView GIS 3.2 was used with HEC-GeoHMS 1.1 extension. Futhermore, Image Analyst, GeoMedia, and MicroStation were used for the data conversion. In order to compute selection factors, simple addictive weighting method and factor combination technique were used, Four possible sites were selected after considering geologic, hydrological, and pollutant loading etc, ChongsoMyeon was the most appropriate site among four possible sites. It had low elevation, low population density, and good accessibility. We confirm that GIS would be a good tool to analyze spatial data and to select optimal conditions for decision-making sites such as wastewater treatment plant in a small watershed area.

This study was carried out to provide environmental information using geographic information system for the environmental manager engaged in governmental office. Point and nonpoint sources were classified by each small watershed and an administrative district. ArcView and ERDAS software were used to develop environmental information system. Small watershed was extracted into the DTEM using HEC-geoHMS which is ArcView extension. Study area was divided into 7 small watershed. Point sources were constituted as cattle, milk cattle, swine, and poultry. Land use was divided into forests, rice paddies, residential sites et al. User interface was designed to search information easily for the nonprofessional GIS users.
