마오리 와카파파(whakapapa)를 통한 세대 간 유대 강화: 인성 교육에 주는 시사점

This research explores the modern features of whakapapa, the Māori concept of genealogy, and the impact of technological advancements in contemporary Māori society. It delves into the current understanding of whakapapa and its influence on interconnectedness, social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and intergenerational bonding and respect for elders. Utilizing a qualitative research methodology grounded in an interpretivist paradigm, 25 key informants, comprising educators, community leaders, and experts in Māori culture, and professionals were interviewed. Thematic analysis was employed to discern central themes within the participants' experiences and viewpoints. The research findings demonstrate that whakapapa, firmly embedded in Māori whānau culture, is vital for fostering and maintaining relationships among individuals, their whānau, and their interconnectedness with nature. Drawing on a critical analysis of whakapapa from a Korean perspective the study advocates for the inclusion of whakapapa in character education to promote intergenerational cohesion and cultural continuity. Continuous dialogue and collaboration among educators, cultural experts, and communities are crucial for effectively integrating diverse cultural traditions into character education in Korea. This study enhances the understanding of the importance of whakapapa in character education and highlights the significance of intergenerational solidarity and cultural traditions in shaping values and behaviors within modern society. 본 연구는 뉴질랜드 원주민 마오리족(Maori)의 핵심 개념인 와카파파(whakapapa)의 현대적 의미 와 기술발전이 가져올 시사점을 조사하였다. 연구는 와카파파에 대한 현실적 이해와 이 개념이 인간관계의 연결성, 사회적 책임, 환경 문제, 그리고 세대 간 유대와 노인에 대한 존중에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 해석주의 패러다임에 기반한 질적 연구방법론을 활용하여 연구 또는 교육자, 지역사회 지도자, 마오리 문화 전문가, 그리고 기타 주요 인사들로 구성된 25명의 핵심 정보제공자(전문가)들과 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 수집된 자료는 테마 분석 기법을 통해 참가자들의 경험과 견해에서 핵심 주제를 도출하는 방법을 통해 이루어졌다. 연구 결과, 와카파파는 마오리족의 와나우(whanau, 가족) 문화에 바탕을 두고 있으며, 개인과 가족, 그리고 자연과의 상호 연결 관계를 형성하고 유지하는데 매우 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 또한, 한국의 시각에서 와카파파에 대한 비판적 분석을 바탕으로, 세대 간 응집력과 문화 보존을 촉진하기 위해 와카파파 및 관련 문화 전통을 인성 교육에 통합 하는 접근 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 한국 인성 교육에서 다양한 문화 전통의 효과적 통합을 위해 관련 교육자, 문화 전문가, 그리고 지역 사회 간의 지속적인 대화와 협력이 필요한 점을 강조하였다. 결론적으로, 본 연구는 인성 교육에서 와카파파의 중요성에 대한 이해를 향상시키고, 현대 사회에서 세대 간 연대와 문화 전통이 가치와 행동에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지에 대한 강조를 통해 한국의 인성교육에 주는 시사점을 제시하였다.

Sex-specific regulation of immune responses by PPARs

The prevalence of autoimmune, infectious and metabolic diseases is different for men and women owing to the respective ability of their immune systems to respond to self and foreign antigens. Although several factors, including hormones and the X-chromosome, have been suggested to contribute to such sex-specific immune responses, the underlying factors remain poorly defined. Recent studies using peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) ligands and knockout mice have identified sex-dimorphic expression of PPARs, and have shown that the inhibitory functions of PPAR in T cells are substantially affected by the sex hormones. In this review, we consider the sex-specific differences in PPARs and summarize the diverse PPAR-mediated, sex-specific properties of effector T-cell responses, such as T-cell activation, survival and differentiation, as well as their involvement in T-cell-related autoimmune diseases, including colitis, graft-versus-host disease and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. Understanding PPAR-mediated sex differences in immune responses will provide more precise insights into the roles of PPARs in effector T cells.
