This is a study on the risk assessment of drinking water using mutagenicity testing. The tests have been carried with the raw water, treated water, and drinking water (tap water) in Kwangju and Mokpo areas. The Ames preincubation test was carried concentrating samples using by Sep-Pak PLUS cartriges in Salmonella typhimurium TA100 and TA98. The samples were tested with several chemical water quality analysis. The THMs have not been measured in raw water, but measured treated water and tap water at a value of 7.135-12.473 $\mu$g/l. It was observed that the number of revertants colonies increased in treated water and tap water on TA100 without S9 and showed weak mutagenicity on TA98 without S9. Indirect mutation was not seen in TA100 and TA98 with S9. The results indicated that formed substances of treatment process s of water that increased mutagenicity.

This study investigated the optimal conditions of enzymatic reaction for production of isomaltooligosaccharides (IMO) using rice flour. To manufacture IMO, commercial enzymes (Termamyl 2X, Maltogenase L, Promozyme D2, Fungamyl 800L and Transglucosidase L) were used. The sugar composition and amount of IMO were examined by HPLC with charged aerosol detector (HPLC-CAD) in each manufacturing process. Liquefaction reaction was performed according to different Termamyl 2X concentrations (0.025%, 0.05%, 0.075%, 0.1%) and reaction times (1 h, 2 h). As a result, the reducing sugar content was the highest at 138.26 g/L when 0.075% Termamyl 2X was added for 2 hours. In order to optimize simultaneous saccharification and transglucosylation, experiments on enzyme selection, enzyme concentration and enzyme reaction time were conducted. Reaction with 0.0015% Maltogenase L, 0.05-0.1% Promozyme D2 and 0.1% Tansglucosidase L was effective in decreasing glucose content and increasing content of IMO with a high degree of polymerization. A change in sugar content was observed every 6 hours to determine the optimal reaction time, and the highest IMO was produced after 36 hours of reaction (75.36 g/L). The IMO prepared under optimal conditions showed isomaltose, 35.11 g/L; panose, 11.97 g/L; isomaltotriose, 19.95 g/L; isomaltotetraose, 7.46 g/L; isomaltopentaose, 1.05 g/L at 18 brix and the ratio of IMO in the total sugar was 56.37%.

Background : There are no clear guidelines for setting anticancer drug doses in obese hematological cancer patients. Based on the reports that toxicity will not increase significantly, the weight application criteria for chemotherapy dose in acute leukemia was changed from the adjusted body weight (AdjBW) to the actual body weight (ABW) in August 2020. In this study, we compared the efficacy and safety between the AdjBW and ABW groups and evaluated the appropriateness of the criteria change. Methods : From January 2019 to June 2021, the study was conducted on obese acute leukemia patients at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital. The efficacy between the AdjBW and ABW groups was compared; whether each group reached complete remission (CR) and mortality within 30 days and recurrence within 6 months. The safety was evaluated by analyzing the recovery period of absolute neutrophils and platelets, bacteremia occurrence, and hospitalization period. Results : There were no significant differences in the CR rate (84.6% vs 76.5%, p=0.502), mortality within 30 days (0% vs 4.8%, p=0.206), and recurrence within 6 months (6.7% vs 21.1%, p=0.24) between the groups after induction of chemotherapy. Recovery period of absolute neutrophils (21.51±4.2 days vs 20.69±6.48 days, p=0.412) and platelets (27.02±10 days vs 30.11±27 days, p=0.409), bacteremia occurrence (70.8% vs 56.9%, p=0.109), and hospitalization period (28.46±6.84 days vs 26.41±7.4 days, p=0.117) were not significantly different between the two groups, but the number of neutropenic fever was higher in the ABW group (1.60±1.08 times vs 1.12±0.89 times, p=0.01). Conclusion : Preemptive anticancer dose reductions for obesity did not influence the composite endpoint of efficacy and safety. Therefore, changing the weight application criteria is considered appropriate from the point of view that it may help to obtain the maximum effect within the tolerable toxicity by patients.

This paper describes a robust model-based roll state estimator for application to the detection of impending vehicle rollover. The roll state estimator is based on a 2-D bicycle model and a roll model to estimate the maneuver-induced vehicle roll motion. The measurement signals are lateral acceleration, yaw rate, steering angle, and vehicle speed. Vehicle mass is adapted to obtain robust performance of the estimator. Computer simulation is conducted to evaluate the proposed roll state estimator by using a validated vehicle simulator. It is shown that the roll state estimator shows robust performance without exact vehicle mass information.
